China is the world’s leading country for potato production but potato is not native to China. To gain insights into the genetic diversity of potato germplasm various studies have been performed but no study has been reported for potato landraces in China. To improve the available genepool for future potato breeding programs, a diverse population containing 292 genotypes (including foreign elite lines, local landraces and cultivars) was developed and genotyped using 30 SSR markers covering the entire potato genome. A total of 174 alleles were detected with an average of 5.5 alleles per locus. The model-based structure analysis discriminated the population into two main sub-groups, which can be further subdivided into seven groups based on collection sites. One sub-group (P1) revealed less genetic diversity than other (P2) and contained a higher number of commercial cultivars possibly indicating a slight reduction in diversity due to selection in breeding programs. The P2 sub-group showed a wider range of genetic diversity with more new and unique alleles attained from wild relatives. The potato landraces, clustered in sub-population P1 may be derived from historical population imported from ancient European and International Potato Center genotypes while sub-population P2 may be derived from modern populations from International Potato Center and European genotypes. It is proposed that in the first step, the potato genotypes were introduced from Europe to China, domesticated as landraces, and then hybridized for modern cultivars

PSR J1926-0652: A Pulsar with Interesting Emission Properties Discovered at FAST

We describe PSR J1926-0652, a pulsar recently discovered with the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST). Using sensitive single-pulse detections from FAST and long-term timing observations from the Parkes 64-m radio telescope, we probed phenomena on both long and short time scales. The FAST observations covered a wide frequency range from 270 to 800 MHz, enabling individual pulses to be studied in detail. The pulsar exhibits at least four profile components, short-term nulling lasting from 4 to 450 pulses, complex subpulse drifting behaviours and intermittency on scales of tens of minutes. While the average band spacing P3 is relatively constant across different bursts and components, significant variations in the separation of adjacent bands are seen, especially near the beginning and end of a burst. Band shapes and slopes are quite variable, especially for the trailing components and for the shorter bursts. We show that for each burst the last detectable pulse prior to emission ceasing has different properties compared to other pulses. These complexities pose challenges for the classic carousel-type models.Comment: 13pages with 12 figure

Homozygous p.Ser267Phe in SLC10A1 is associated with a new type of hypercholanemia and implications for personalized medicine.

SLC10A1 codes for the sodium-taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide (NTCP), which is a hepatocellular transporter for bile acids (BAs) and the receptor for hepatitis B and D viruses. NTCP is also a target of multiple drugs. We aimed to evaluate the medical consequences of the loss of function mutation p.Ser267Phe in SLC10A1. We identified eight individuals with homozygous p.Ser267Phe mutation in SLC10A1 and followed up for 8-90 months. We compared their total serum BAs and 6 species of BAs with 170 wild-type and 107 heterozygous healthy individuals. We performed in-depth medical examinations and exome sequencing in the homozygous individuals. All homozygous individuals had persistent hypercholanemia (P = 5.8 × 10-29). Exome sequencing excluded the involvement of other BA metabolism-associated genes in the hypercholanemia. Although asymptomatic, all individuals had low vitamin D levels. Of six adults that were subjected to bone mineral density analysis, three presented with osteoporosis/osteopenia. Sex hormones and blood lipids were deviated in all subjects. Homozygosity of p.Ser267Phe in SLC10A1 is associated with asymptomatic hypercholanemia. Individuals with homozygous p.Ser267Phe in SLC10A1 are prone to vitamin D deficiency, deviated sex hormones and blood lipids. Surveillance of these parameters may also be needed in patients treated with drugs targeting NTCP.This project is supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (31471193, 81570539, 81370535, 91331204 and 31525014). A Novel DBL-Domain of the P. falciparum 332 Molecule Possibly Involved in Erythrocyte Adhesion

Plasmodium falciparum malaria is brought about by the asexual stages of the parasite residing in human red blood cells (RBC). Contact between the erythrocyte surface and the merozoite is the first step for successful invasion and proliferation of the parasite. A number of different pathways utilised by the parasite to adhere and invade the host RBC have been characterized, but the complete biology of this process remains elusive. We here report the identification of an open reading frame (ORF) representing a hitherto unknown second exon of the Pf332 gene that encodes a cysteine-rich polypeptide with a high degree of similarity to the Duffy-binding-like (DBL) domain of the erythrocyte-binding-ligand (EBL) family. The sequence of this DBL-domain is conserved and expressed in all parasite clones/strains investigated. In addition, the expression level of Pf332 correlates with proliferation efficiency of the parasites in vitro. Antibodies raised against the DBL-domain are able to reduce the invasion efficiency of different parasite clones/strains. Analysis of the DBL-domain revealed its ability to bind to uninfected human RBC, and moreover demonstrated association with the iRBC surface. Thus, Pf332 is a molecule with a potential role to support merozoite invasion. Due to the high level of conservation in sequence, the novel DBL-domain of Pf332 is of possible importance for development of novel anti-malaria drugs and vaccines

Analysis and Optimization of Impact Condition of Power Conditioning Inverter Based on ANSYS

    No full text
This paper uses the professional finite element analysis software ANSYS to process a certain type of power regulating inverter. The overall finite element model of the inverter is established then the three-way impact condition is analysed according to the requirements of GJB 1060.1-91. Through the modal analysis in ANSYS software, the natural frequency and natural vibration mode of the inverter are calculated. Based on modal analysis of the inverter, the DDAM shock spectrum analysis function is used to analyse the impact condition of the inverter. Through the calculation of the impact condition, the deformation and stress state of the inverter structure under various working conditions are obtained. By analysing the calculation results, the weak position of the inverter structure is found and the corresponding optimization scheme is proposed to improve the dynamic performance and improve the electron. The overall dynamic performance of the inverter cabinet also provides an important reference for the design of subsequent electronic cabinets

Low Altitude 3-D Coverage Performance Analysis in Cell-Free Distributed Collaborative Massive MIMO Systems

To improve the poor performance of distributed operation and non-scalability of centralized operation in traditional cell-free massive MIMO, we propose a cell-free distributed collaborative (CFDC) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system based on a novel two-layer model to take advantages of the distributed cloud-edge-end collaborative architecture in beyond 5G (B5G) internet of things (IoT) environment to provide strong flexibility and scalability. We further ultilize the proposed CFDC massive MIMO system to support the low altitude three-dimensional (3-D) coverage scenario with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), while accounting for 3-D Rician channel estimation, user-centric association and different scalable receiving schemes. Since coexisted UAVs and ground users (GUEs) cause greater interference, we ultilize user-centric association strategy and minimum-mean-square error (MMSE) channel state information (CSI) estimation to obtain the estimated CSI of UAVs and GUEs. Under the CFDC scenarios, scalable receiving schemes as maximum ratio combing (MRC), partial zero-forcing (P-ZF) and partial minimum-mean-square error (P-MMSE) can be performed at edge servers and the closed-form expressions for uplink spectral efficiency (SE) are derived. Based on the derived expressions, we propose an efficient power control algorithm by solving a multi-objective optimization problem (MOOP) between maximizing the average SE of UAVs and GUEs simultaneously with Deep Q-Network (DQN). Numerical results verify the accuracy of the derived closed-form expressions and the effectiveness of the coexisted UAVs and GUEs transmission scheme in CFDC massive MIMO systems. The SE analysis under various system parameters offers numerous flexibilities for system optimization.Comment: The work is further studied and the content of the paper is updated.
