    Error Analysis in Short Dialogue Using Future Tense

    Error analysis plays an important role in investigating errors in the acquisition of a second or foreign language. This error analysis is part of the investigation into the process of learning English. The research aimed of this study is to analyze the types of errors made by the students of SMAN 2 Semarang on writing future tense sentences in a short dialogue. In this research, the researchers will discuss the types of interlingual errors. Qualitative descriptive methods used to find the types of errors that made by the students. The data was gathered through written task in the form of students’ writing short dialogue in  English using future tense. The Findings showed that the researchers found a non-contrastive analysis which was divided into 4 such as, over-generalization, ignorance of rules restrictions, incomplete application of rules, and hypothesized false concepts. As a result of student work, based on the frequency of each aspect of error the highest level error found is hypothesized false concepts. So that students still do not fully understand the topic and context discussed in the future tense sentence. Therefore, students must continue to learn to understand the rules of sentence structure and the teacher also develops more teaching methods so that students can easily understand the material. 

    EXPLORING ELT TEACHER’S PERSPECTIVE OF PROJECT-BASED ASSESSMENT

    There are two aims of this research; (1) to describe the perceptions of the teachers about project-based assessment, (2) to describe teachers’ barriers to implementing the project-based assessment. In this study, the researcher used descriptive qualitative research. The participants are 3 English teachers who have been taught more than 5 years. The Data was gathered through an open-ended questionnaire.  After that, the researcher analyzed the data by transcribing, coding, and interpreting the data finally the writer reported the data qualitatively. The result showed that the English teachers had a positive perception of implementing the project-based assessment also they create lesson plans first before teaching and applying project-based as their assessment, the barriers are time allotment which needs more time, and the unreadiness of the students in applying project-based as the assessment. The teachers hope another teacher can apply PBA maximally so that they can achieve the objective of the learning

    Undergraduate Students’ Perspective On The Use Of Padlet As Learning Tool For English Writing

    The impact of post-covid-19 made lecturers think hard to keep using digital learning and developing the use of ICT in conducting learning activities. One of the digital learning tools used is Padlet. This study aims to explain students' perceptions of using Padlet, particularly in English writing class. A total of twenty-five students in the fourth-grade semester of the English department at the University of Muhammadiyah Semarang. The research design was a qualitative case study. The data was gathered through an open-ended questionnaire. The findings showed that the students perceived the use of Padlet as a learning English writing tool positively, they think Padlet help them to learn English writing and provides simple activities that encourage them to enjoy the learning process, and they perceived that Padlet enhances their motivation and create collaborative learning and student relationship. Theoretically, the use of Padlet in English writing could be implemented as a media tool to provide writing. Practically, the result of the research benefits EFL learners and practitioners. Pedagogically, the implementation of Padlet needed student-lecturer collaboration to achieve the objective of the learning. The researchers suggested that adding advanced English programs and activities to Padlet, will help them to improve the learning process of English writing.Keywords: Padlet, Students’ Perception, English Writing

    A Sociolinguistic Study Of The Variety Of Ngkalongan Dialect Javanese Spoken By Pekalongan People

    Dialect is a kind of language style that happened in some nations of the country especially in Indonesia. One of the varieties of dialect is Ngkalongan dialect which is characterized by variations in pronunciation, grammatical, and discourse features. The objective of this study is to explain the dialect found in the video that will be analyzed by qualitative research design. The data is taken from the video youtube channel. The data collection method by video observation. The researcher used an instrument observation checklist and taking notes to analyze the data. The result showed that there are 20 dialect that used by the speakers in speaking ngkalongan dialect.     This study aimed to explain ESP (English for Specific Purposes) students’ perception toward the potential of AI to promote their self-efficacy in their English writing skill by examining its impact on students’ learning experiences and perceptions. The present investigation employed a qualitative case study. The data collected by open-ended questionnaire in online form distributed to forty students in accounting major. The findings showed that the students positively perceived toward the potential of AI to promote students’ self-efficacy in their English writing skill, they believed that AI play important role and impact their self-efficacy, enhance their motivation, reduce their anxiety, give easy access to the students to get feedback quickly with better recommendation of writing and provide interactive learning in achieving consistency in student’ English writing skill

    Flouting Maxim Analysis in Bill Gate's Utterances on Ellen Talk Show (Pragmatic Approach)

    Abstract In communication, people usually apply the cooperative principle that consists of four maxims of conversational maxims for several reasons in several contexts. Speakers obey these maxims to have effective communication without any miscommunication. Flouting the maxims is a situation wherein the speakers cause misunderstanding on their participants’ part or to achieve some other purposes in conversation. The objective of this study intends to analyze the types of maxims that flout by Bill gates’ utterances. The data were collected by using video observation. The video is taken from the youtube channel The Ellen Show. The data analysis was done by (1) eliciting the video from youtube channel, (2)  observing the data by watching and listening to the talk show, (3) transcribing the script, (4) analyzing the types of maxims that flout by Bill gates, (5) categorizing the data,  (6) Finding the data (7) concluding the study. The finding shows a maxim of quantity is the most floating by Bill gates.Abstrak Dalam komunikasi, masyarakat biasanya menerapkan prinsip kooperatif yang terdiri dari empat maksim maksim percakapan karena beberapa alasan dalam beberapa konteks. Pembicara mematuhi prinsip-prinsip ini untuk memiliki komunikasi yang efektif tanpa miskomunikasi. Melanggar maksim adalah situasi di mana pembicara menyebabkan kesalahpahaman di pihak partisipan mereka atau untuk mencapai beberapa tujuan lain dalam percakapan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis jenis-jenis maksim yang dilontarkan oleh ucapan Bill Gates. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan observasi video. Video tersebut diambil dari saluran youtube The Ellen Show. Analisis data dilakukan dengan (1) menggali video dari saluran youtube, (2) mengamati data dengan menonton dan mendengarkan talk show, (3) menyalin naskah, (4) menganalisis jenis-jenis maksim yang dilanggar Bill. gerbang, (5) mengkategorikan data, (6) Menemukan data (7) menyimpulkan penelitian. Temuan menunjukkan maksim kuantitas adalah yang paling sering di langgar oleh Bill Gates
