The 2011-2012 Russian protests and the precedents of protest in post-Soviet Eurasia
This study places the 2011-2012 Russian protests within the framework of Eurasian mass-civil mobilisation. Researchers have examined the shared and divergent properties of these events, commonly labelled „colour revolutions.‟ However, research has not employed the experience of the colour revolutions to understand the current civil unrest in Russia. Drawing on existing research, this study generates a „colour revolution‟ framework and applies it to the case study of the 2011-2012 Russian protests. This approach allows the Russian protests to be analysed in relation to „colour revolutions‟ in societies that are geographically, politically and historically proximate. This study finds that the current protests are the immediate result of perceptions of extensive electoral fraud. However, the underlying drivers are gradual socio-economic shifts toward the growth of the middle class, and the increasing predisposition of the Russian government towards a „managed democracy.‟ This thesis concludes that based on the idiosyncrasies and political diversity of the Russian pro-democracy protests, it must be considered a “Grey Revolution” – a mix of colours. Due to these factors it is unlikely that the movement will succeed in its goals in the short term. Perturbation of magnetostatic modes observed by ferromagnetic resonance force microscopy
Magnetostatic modes of yttrium iron garnet (YIG) films are investigated by ferromagnetic resonance force microscopy. A thin-film "probe" magnet at the tip of a compliant cantilever introduces a local inhomogeneity in the internal field of the YIG sample. This influences the shape of the sample's magnetostatic modes, thereby measurably perturbing the strength of the force coupled to the cantilever. We present a theoretical model that explains these observations; it shows that the tip-induced variation of the internal field creates either a local "potential barrier" or "potential well" for the magnetostatic waves. The data and model together indicate that local magnetic imaging of ferromagnets is possible, even in the presence of long-range spin coupling, through the introduction of localized magnetostatic modes predicted to arise from sufficiently strong tip fields
Sub-Poissonian light and photocurrent shot-noise suppression in closed opto-electronic loop
We examine experimentally photocurrent noise reduction in the opto-electronic closed loop. Photocurrent noise density 12.5 dB below the shot-noise was observed. So large suppression was not reached in previous experiments and cannot be explained in terms of an ordinary sub-Poissonian light in the loop. We propose the concept of anticorrelation state for the description of light in the loop

Уменьшение динамических потерь в инверторах квазисинусоидального напряжения с помощью регулирования кратности модуляции выходного напряжения
Проаналізовано джерела втрат в інверторах синусоїдальної напруги. Запропоновано методику зменшення динамічних втрат за допомогою зміни кратності модуляції напруги із забезпеченням необхідного значення коефіцієнту гармонік. Розраховано підвищення коефіцієнту корисної дії перетворювача за умови реалізації методики.Improving the energy efficiency of inverters possible to achieve by reducing dynamic losses, due to the reduction of modulation multiplicity relative to the current values of the total harmonic distortion coefficient. From obtained relations possible in analytical form express modulation multiplicity for specific values of the inverter parameters and total harmonic distortion coefficient.Повышение энергоэффективности инверторов возможно достичь путем уменьшения динамических потерь, за счет сокращения кратности модуляции относительно текущего значения коэффициента гармоник. С полученных соотношений возможно в аналитическом виде выразить кратность модуляции для определенного значения коэффициента гармоник и параметров инвертора
СТРАХОВОЕ РЕГУЛИРОВАНИЕ В РФ И СТРАНАХ ЕВРАЗЭС
The paper discusses the ways of rapprochement of insurance legislations of EurAsEC Member States. It evaluates the role of unification and harmonization in this process. When considering the unification, the author pays attention to legal mechanisms of its two stер implementation. Also, the author considers the role and importance of harmonization and unification of insurance sources in the EurAsEC member states in terms of their rapprochement. Based on the analysis of the unification and harmonization category, it is suggested to adopt the EurAsEC Treaty on the insurance and the Model Code with the aim to use their provisions in national legal systems of member states. The current law tries to meet the challenges of the day in the field of international insurance business; it looks for ways and means to optimize regulation of legal and economic activities and at the same time to respect national legislations. The whole process is proceeding towards unification of regulatory documents with further uniform regulation within the economic union.В статье рассматриваются пути сближения страхового законодательства стран ЕврАзЭС. Исследована роль категории унификации и гармонизации в данном процессе. При рассмотрении унификации обращено внимание на правовые механизмы ее реализации, в которые включены два этапа. Уделено внимание определению роли и значения категории гармонизации и унификации страховых источников в государствах ЕврАзЭС для их максимального сближения. На основании анализа категории унификации и гармонизации предложено принятие странами ЕврАзЭС Договора о страховании, а также Модельного страхового кодекса в целях использования их положений в национальных правовых системах указанных стран. Практическое использование предложенных нормативных актов может стать базой для единообразного регулирования страховых отношений национальных правовых систем государств ЕврАзЭС. Современное право, которое в части международной страховой деятельности субъектов старается соответствовать вызовам дня, ищет и находит пути и возможности для оптимального соответствия регулирования правовых экономических отношений с учетом соотношений различных норм права в разных государствах при объединении их и регулировании в едином экономическом союзе
Influence of simultaneous doping of Sb & Pb on phase formation, superconducting and microstructural characteristics of HgBa2Ca2Cu3O8+\delta
We report systematic studies of structural, microstructural and transport
properties of (Hg_0.80 Sb_0.2-x Pb_x)Ba_2 Ca_2 Cu_3O_8+\delta (where x = 0.0,
0.05, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2) compounds. Bulk polycrystalline samples have been
prepared by two-step solid-state reaction route at ambient pressure. It has
been observed that simultaneous substitution of Sb and Pb at Hg site in oxygen
deficient HgO_\delta layer of HgBa2Ca2Cu3O8+\delta cuprate high-Tc
superconductor leads to the formation of Hg-1223 as the dominant phase.
Microstructural investigations of the as grown samples employing scanning
electron microscopy reveal single crystal like large grains embodying spiral
like features. Superconducting properties particularly transport current
density (Jct) have been found to be sensitive to these microstructural
features. As for example (Hg0.80Sb0.05Pb0.15)Ba2Ca2Cu3O8+\delta compound which
exhibits single crystal like large grains (~ 50 micrometer) and appears to
result through spiral growth mechanism, shows highest Jct (~ 1.85 x 103 A/cm2)
at 77K. A possible mechanism for the generation of spiral like features and
correlation between microstructural features and superconducting properties

High pressure effects in fluorinated HgBa2Ca2Cu3O(8+d)
We have measured the pressure sensitivity of Tc in fluorinated
HgBa2Ca2Cu3O(8+d) (Hg-1223) ceramic samples with different F contents, applying
pressures up to 30 GPa. We obtained that Tc increases with increasing pressure,
reaching different maximum values, depending on the F doping level, and
decreases for a further increase of pressure. A new high Tc record (166 K +/- 1
K) was achieved by applying pressure (23 GPa) in a fluorinated Hg-1223 sample
near the optimum doping level. Our results show that all our samples are at the
optimal doping, and that fluorine incorporation decreases the crystallographic
-parameter concomitantly increasing the maximum attainable Tc. This effect
reveals that the compression of the axes is one of the keys that controls
