Épica y providencialismo en el Liber gestorum de Pere Marsili

Este trabajo desvela cómo Pere Marsili, al relatar en su versión latina del Llibre dels fets de Jaume I las dos grandes tormentas en el mar que recoge la obra catalana (la de la expedición a Mallorca en 1229 y la de la expedición a Tierra Santa en 1269), recrea ecos poéticos de autores épicos latinos como Virgilio, Ovidio o Lucano e introduce modificaciones estructurales encaminadas a subrayar el paralelismo entre ambas tormentas.This study shows that Pere Marsili, in his Latin translation of the Llibre dels fets by Jaume I, inserted epic reminiscences from Latin poets such as Vergil, Ovid or Lucan when he described the storms that, according to the Catalan work, took place during the expedition to Mallorca in 1229 and to the Holy Land in 1269. He also made some structural changes in order to emphasize the parallelism between both storms

Mary Madeleine’s life in Legenda Avrea by Iacobus de Voragine and Vides de Sants Roselloneses: a comparative analysis

En este artículo realizamos un estudio de la vida de Maria Magdalena en Vides de Sants Roselloneses, que es la traducción catalana más antigua que se conserva de la Legenda aurea de Jacobo de la Vorágine. El análisis comparativo desvela que la traducción mantiene sin apenas cambios el heterogéneo material narrativo de la uita y es, en general, fiel al texto latino, pero muestra una tendencia a la omisión de detalles narrativos que se hace muy marcada en ciertas secciones de la uita y que, en el caso del milagro de Marsella, comporta cambios y matices significativos para el relato.In this article we make a study about Mary Madeleine’s life as reflected in Vides de Sants Roselloneses, which is the oldest Catalan translation we have of Legenda aurea by Iacobus de Voragine. The comparative analysis points out that the translation keeps the heterogeneous narrative material without significative changes and it is, in general, faithful to the Latin text. However, it shows a tendence towards the omission of narrative details which becomes very remarkable in some sections of the Vita. This reduction involves subtle modifications and new nuances in relation to the “miracle of Marsella”

Latin Legenda aurea, apocryphal elements and their Catalan tradition

Estudio de las advertencias que introduce Jacobo de la Vorágine sobre la naturaleza apócrifa de algunas leyendas o ciertos elementos narrativos que incluye en su Legenda aurea. Partiendo de la teoría de G. P. Maggioni de que la mayor parte de estas advertencias fueron introducidas por el dominico en su segunda redacción de la obra (LA2), analizamos en qué medida y de qué manera son recogidas en la tradición catalana de la obra, y tomamos como base para nuestro trabajo la edición más reciente del texto latino (Maggioni 2007), y cuatro de los manuscritos más importantes de la tradición catalana. Con este estudio comparativo pretendemos aportar nuevos datos a la historia textual de la Legenda aurea catalana en relación con su posible modelo latino y comprobar en qué medida hay en ella preocupación por delimitar claramente lo ‘apócrifo’ de cara al público al que va dirigida.A study on Iacobus de Voragine’s warnings and observations about the apocryphal nature of some narrative elements within his Golden Legend. According to G. P. Maggioni's theory, most of these observations were inserted by Voragine in his second redaction of the work (LA2), and here we analyse to what extent and in what ways they are cited in the Legenda Aurea’s Catalan tradition, taking as the study’s basis the most recent edition of the Latin text (Maggion 2007) and four of the most important manuscripts of the Catalan tradition. The legend of Pilate within the «Legenda aurea» by Iacobus de Voragine: narrative structure and «exemplum a contrario»

This article presents a literary and narratological study of the legend of Pilate as it appears in Chapter LI (De passione Domini) of Voragine’s Legenda aurea, with the purpose of identifying and singling out his character traits. Our analysis focuses on three aspects: Pilate’s thoughts and feelings, the image that the other characters offer of him throughout the legend, and the narrative structure of the story itself. On one hand, our study reveals how the legend works within the legendary as an exemplum a contrario and, on the other hand, it shows how Pilate is depicted as a folk hero and proficient in evil who defies all human justice and whose terrible crimes can only be punished by divine laws.Trabajo realizado en el marco del proyecto de investigación FFI2017-83950-P
