Low-distortion receiver for bilevel, baseband PCM waveforms

Digital receiver improves discrimination between information signals and noise and provides order to magnitude reduction in systematic distortion. Receiver combines advantages of band-limiting prefilter and high-amplitude thresholds to provide asynchronous discrimination between information signals and spurious signals

Error protection capability of space shuttle data bus designs

    Get PDF
Error protection assurance in the reliability of digital data communications is discussed. The need for error protection on the space shuttle data bus system has been recognized and specified as a hardware requirement. The error protection techniques of particular concern are those designed into the Shuttle Main Engine Interface (MEI) and the Orbiter Multiplex Interface Adapter (MIA). The techniques and circuit design details proposed for these hardware are analyzed in this report to determine their error protection capability. The capability is calculated in terms of the probability of an undetected word error. Calculated results are reported for a noise environment that ranges from the nominal noise level stated in the hardware specifications to burst levels which may occur in extreme or anomalous conditions

RECEPCJA ŚREDNIOWIECZNYCH MOTYWÓW W ŚWIECIE GWIEZDNYCH WOJEN

The paper makes up an attempt to systematize and occasionally verify the views on the medieval motifs which were to be used while creating the world of Star Wars. The synchronic method applied in various publications lies behind opinions according to which the inspiration here included: Arthurian legends, the medieval concept of minne, visions of hell, the history and tradition of the Knights Templar, as well as the samurai in feudal Japan. These opinions cannot be regarded as entirely grounded. The remarks on the reception of some motifs related to the samurai or the Knights Templar seem justified as well as the plot of courtly love and the medieval image of hell. However, insistent juxtaposing, among others, of the individual stages of the lives of the saga’s main characters with the fortunes of king Arthur is controversial. The paper makes up an attempt to systematize and occasionally verify the views on the medieval motifs which were to be used while creating the world of Star Wars. Highly-Resolved Numerical Simulation of the Turbulent Combustion Process in Experimental Burners

    Get PDF
This paper presents investigations of experimentally well-characterised turbulent flames with highly-resolved Large Eddy Simulations (LES) and Direct Numerical Simulations (DNS). The combustion process is modelled with a flamelet-based approach, which assumes that the local turbulent flame structure can be described by an ensemble of wrinkled laminar flames. Good agreements between the simulation results and experimental measurement data is achieved. The governing equations are discretised with the Finite Volume Method (FVM). The numerical implementation is tailored for massively parallel simulations on a large number of grid cells. The computational efficiency benefits from the applied simple grid structure and the use of non-blocking Message Passing Interface (MPI) parallelisation
