This chapter presents a general overview of the phonetics and phonology of Catalan, taking into consideration both segmental and suprasegmental phenomena. The chapter provides an updated state-of-the-art report of the most recent investigations in this area. Though the report concentrates on the standard variety, Central Catalan, we also highlight the rich dialectal variation that affects both segmental and prosodic properties. After a brief introduction to the dialectal distribution of the language, the first part of the chapter is devoted to segmental phonology. In this part, we first present the basic segmen-tal inventories of the language, as well as syllable structure types; we then describe the phonological processes that affect both vocalic and consonantal systems. The prosodic part of the chapter covers the main prosodic characteristics of the language, followed by a description of the intonational variation found for a variety of sentence types

L'atles interactiu de l'entonació del català i el traçat de les isoglosses entonatives del català

En la primera part d’aquest article presentem el projecte de l’"Atles interactiu de l’entonació del català", que té com a objectiu la presentació d’una sèrie de materials en àudio i en vídeo per a l’estudi de la prosòdia i l’entonació dels dialectes catalans. En la segona part expliquem els primers resultats geoprosòdics que s’han obtingut a partir de l’anàlisi de diferents tipus de patrons entonatius de l’"Atles", tot iniciant el traçat de les isoglosses prosòdiques en el domini lingüístic català. Per una banda, veurem que hi ha contorns entonatius que són molt generals a tot el domini, com ara els contorns de les frases declaratives neutres i els de les declaratives que expressen un sentit d’obvietat; per altra banda, hi ha uns altres contorns, com els de les preguntes informatives i els de les preguntes confirmatòries, que presenten força diversitat dialectal. En la part final de l’article analitzem aquesta variació geoprosòdica i presentem una hipòtesi diacrònica de l’evolució d’aquests contorns

L'expressió de la incredulitat en català: un estudi prosòdic

Aquest article pretén aprofundir en l’anàlisi entonativa de les oracions interrogatives absolutes informatives i les que denoten incredulitat en català. En la primera part expliquem els primers resultats geoprosòdics, els quals s’han obtingut a partir de l’anàlisi de les oracions interrogatives absolutes neutres i les interrogatives absolutes que denoten incredulitat de l’"Atles interactiu de l’entonació del català", tot iniciant el traçat de les isoglosses prosòdiques en el domini lingüístic català. En la segona part de l’article presentem els resultats d’un experiment de percepció en català central que pretén investigar quins trets prosòdics són els que calen als parlants per a distingir els dos tipus d’oracions interrogatives que analitzem

Entonació i pressuposició en les interrogatives absolutes del mallorquí

Aquest treball investiga de quina manera l’entonació reflecteix el diferents graus de coneixement del parlant en les interrogatives absolutes del mallorquí. Mitjançant tres experiments de percepció (un test d’adequació, un test d’avaluació i un test d’identificació basat en el paradigma clàssic de la percepció categorial) s’ha pogut demostrar que els oients catalans distingeixen quan el parlant no té ni idea de quina serà la resposta de la pregunta que està produint de quan el parlant té certes hipòtesis sobre quina hi serà la resposta i cerca confirmació d’aquestes hipòtesis. També s’ha pogut comprovar que les interrogatives manifesten una gradació de coneixement del parlant a l’hora de produir les interrogatives (així com de coneixement pressuposat a l’interlocutor), com havia proposat Escandell (1993, 1998) des del punt de vista pragmàtic, i que els oients indentifiquen basant-se, sobretot, en indicis entonatius, però també en indicis morfosintàctics

EURL ECVAM Recommendation on the 3T3 Neutral Red Uptake Cytotoxicity Assay for Acute Oral Toxicity Testing

Acute oral toxicity is currently being assessed by a suite of refinement test methods based on the traditional LD50 lethality test and is, besides skin sensitisation, the only remaining animal test required under REACH Annex VII. In view of assessing the use of alternatives for this health endpoint, EURL ECVAM conducted a study on the 3T3 Neutral Red Uptake cytotoxicity test method addressing the method's capacity to support specifically the identification substances not requiring classification as acute toxicants. Following independent scientific peer review of this study by EURL ECVAM's scientific advisory committee (ESAC) and having considered input from regulators, stakeholders, international partners and the general public, EURL ECVAM concludes that the 3T3 NRU test method may prove a valuable component of a WoE or ITS approach for supporting hazard identification and safety assessment in agreement with the EU CLP Regulation and international regulatory schemes implementing the upper threshold of UN GHS Category 4 as the cut-off for non-classification of substances. In particular, data from the 3T3 NRU assay may constitute an information source within a WoE approach under the provisions of the REACH regulation (Annex XI, 1.2) potentially supporting conclusions on absence of acute oral toxicity of industrial chemicals.JRC.I.5-Systems Toxicolog

Procesos administrativos y calidad del servicio de la sub gerencia de tránsito, transporte y vialidad de la Municipalidad de Ate 2022

La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo determinar la relación entre el proceso administrativo y la calidad del servicio en la Sub Gerencia de Tránsito, Transporte y Vialidad de la Municipalidad Distrital de Ate, 2022. Esta investigación fue de un enfoque cuantitativo, de tipo aplicada, de diseño no experimental, de corte transversal, descriptivo - correlacional. Teniendo una población por un total de 160 servidores públicos y la muestra un total de 60 servidores públicos que laboran en la oficina de la Sub Gerencia de Tránsito, Transporte y Viabilidad de la Municipalidad de Ate. Se empleó el cuestionario aplicado en forma indirecta a través de internet, las cuales fueron validadas por tres especialistas de la Escuela Profesional de Administración de la Universidad César Vallejo. La fiabilidad del instrumento se ejecutó con el test de Alfa de Cronbach, obteniendo un resultado de 0,972 > 0,90 para el cuestionario de la variable proceso administrativo y 0,981 > 0,90 para el cuestionario de la variable calidad de servicio. Por otro lado, se empleó la técnica de Rho. de Spearman para la prueba de la hipótesis, donde se obtuvo un grado de incertidumbre o nivel de significancia o error es 0.000, siendo este menor a 0.05, es por eso que se rechaza la hipótesis nula y se acepta la hipótesis alterna, significando esto que, se acepta la hipótesis “Existe relación significativa las variables de estudio

Study of the influence on the stress and the environmental impact of the type of knots in Warren trusses

The benefits of using steel structures for large span facilities, its lightness compared to other structural materials, their machining and ease of assembly and the possibility of recycling. Despite the above advantages, has the disadvantages, being a nonrenewable natural resource, require high energy consumption for production, generate significant CO2 emissions as well as large quantities of waste, both gaseous and solid. Considering that in 2010 crude steel production in the European Union in electric arc furnaces and oxygen steel furnaces totaled 172.9 million tons, the slag generated in the European Union amount to 9,34Mt of slag produced only in electric arc furnaces and 8.37 Mt year in ladle furnaces, which are deposited in landfills that generate serious environmental damage, which is essential to the study of proposals to make more sustainable and less environmentally damaging buildings and design to execution. Considering these aspects, the study aims to study the influence of tensions and energy consumption in Warren type trusses, when they are subjected to different load values and with differente types of knots, in order to optimize the amount of material and energy consumption

Influence of the factors involved in the evaluation of technical subjects

The new Higher Education Area has changed the way of understanding teaching. The study of factors influencing the teaching-learning process is necessary to improve student learning. Another important aspect is the assessment process. Study of the influence on the deformation and the economic impact of the type of knots in Warren trusses

The indisputable advantages of steel structures for large spans, makes the use of trusses is commonly used as structural good results using less material than other structural materials and less weight. The study aims to study the influence on the deformation produced in Warren type trusses, when they are subjected to different load values and with different types of knots, in order to optimize the amount of material used in structures
