Text as scene: discourse deixis and bridging relations
En este artículo se presenta un nuevo marco, “el texto como escena”, que establece
las bases para la anotación de dos relaciones de correferencia: la deixis discursiva y las
relaciones de bridging. La incorporación de lo que llamamos escenas textuales y contextuales
proporciona unas directrices de anotación más flexibles, que diferencian claramente entre tipos
de categorías generales. Un marco como éste, capaz de tratar la deixis discursiva y las
relaciones de bridging desde una perspectiva común, tiene como objetivo mejorar el bajo grado
de acuerdo entre anotadores obtenido por esquemas de anotación anteriores, que son incapaces
de captar las referencias vagas inherentes a estos dos tipos de relaciones. Las directrices aquí
presentadas completan el esquema de anotación diseñado para enriquecer el corpus español
CESS-ECE con información correferencial y así construir el corpus CESS-Ancora.This paper presents a new framework, “text as scene”, which lays the foundations for
the annotation of two coreferential links: discourse deixis and bridging relations. The
incorporation of what we call textual and contextual scenes provides more flexible annotation
guidelines, broad type categories being clearly differentiated. Such a framework that is capable
of dealing with discourse deixis and bridging relations from a common perspective aims at
improving the poor reliability scores obtained by previous annotation schemes, which fail to
capture the vague references inherent in both these links. The guidelines presented here
complete the annotation scheme designed to enrich the Spanish CESS-ECE corpus with

Estudi de viabilitat del projecte de construcció d'una indústria d'elaboració de pernil cuit
Aquesta indústria, amb seu a Vic i dedicada actualment a l’elaboració de productes
curats, donada la gran acceptació de tots els seus productes dintre del mercat, es planteja
ampliar el seu ventall de productes elaborats i comercialitzats, fent necessari la construcció
d’una nova nau.
L’objecte d’aquest projecte es l’estudi de viabilitat, en base a la construcció d’una
nau, al costat de l'existent, que es dedicarà únicament a la fabricació i a la expedició de
pernils cuits qualitat extra, espatlles cuites de primera categoria i embotits d’espatlla. Per
això serà necessària una descripció detallada de les obres e instal·lacions, així com
descriure el procés productiu
Quantitative anatomical analysis of the carpal tunnel in women and men
Purpose: The main objective of this study was to identify anatomical differences between men and women in the absolute and relative size of the carpal tunnel (CT), its inner structures, and related external anatomical structures in order to shed light on the higher prevalence of CT syndrome (CTS) in women. Basic procedures: We have dissected the forearms and hands of ten men and ten women and compared the cross-sectional area (CSA) of the CT between the two sexes. The size of the CT relative to the tendons passing through it, the median nerve (MN), and to hand and wrist size was also compared between men and women. Main findings: The absolute CSAs of the CT and other parameters were larger in men than in women. The CSA of the CT relative to the length of the capitate bone was also larger in men. However, no significant differences were observed between men and women in the size of the CT relative to its inner structures. Principal conclusions: The size of the inner structures of the CT are in proportion to that of the CT itself in both sexes. These findings suggest that the etiology of CTS seems to be primarily related to workload and personal traits
AnCoraPipe: A tool for multilevel annotation
AnCoraPipe is a corpus annotation tool which allows different linguistic levels to be annotated simultaneously and efficiently, since it uses a single format for all stages. In this way, the required annotation time is reduced and the integration of the work of all annotators is made easier
mRNA expression of myosin heavy chain isoforms in the sphenomandibularis portion of the temporalis muscle
The main objective of this study was to analyze by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR) the expression patterns of the myosin heavy chain (MHC) isoforms (MHC-I, MHC-IIa, MHC-IIx) in the sphenomandibularis portion of the temporalis muscle. We expected to find differences between the sphenomandibularis and the other portions of the temporalis that could be related to the functional characteristics of the sphenomandibularis identified by electromyography. We dissected the right temporalis muscle of ten adult human individuals (five men and five women). Samples of the anterior and posterior temporalis and of the sphenomandibularis portion were obtained from each dissected muscle. These samples were analyzed by RT-qPCR to determine the percentages of expression of the MHC-I, MHC-IIa and MHC-IIx isoforms. No significant differences were identified between the anterior and the posterior temporalis in the expression patterns of the MHC-I, MHC-IIa and MHC-IIx isoforms. However, there were significant differences between the sphenomandibularis and the anterior temporalis. Specifically, the sphenomandibularis portion had a higher percentage of expression of the MHC-I isoform (P=0.04) and a lower percentage of expression of the MHC-IIx isoform (P=0.003). The pattern of expression that we observed in the sphenomandibularis reflects a greater resistance to fatigue, a lower contraction speed, and a lower capacity of force generation in the sphenomandibularis compared to the anterior temporalis. These characteristics are consistent with electromyographic findings on the functional differences between these two portions
