A methodology for the measurement of carbon monoxide concentration during in-situ combustion with tunable diode laser

A TDL system is reported to monitor carbon monoxide (CO) concentration under conditions similar to those of laboratory-scale tests used to characterize the behaviour of a heavy crude oil during in situ combustion (ISC). The TDL-CO sensor uses a DFB diode laser operating over the spectral range of the rotational transition R(11) of the CO-2v-vibrational band, where simulations of spectral absorption bands for CO, CO2 and H2O show minimal spectral interference. The absorption spectra were calculated using HiTran 2008 Database, under typical conditions of temperature of 150oC to 800oC, pressures from 1 atm to 5 atm and major species compositions observed in ISC characterization experiments. CO-concentration measurements were conducted in a static-glass cell, of Duran R borosilicate glass 3.3 with a pathlength of 3.81cm, to validate the CO sensor architecture under controlled laboratory environments. A calibration curve of CO was obtained by quantifying the optical density at the line center of R(11) for a concentration range between 0:7%mole to 3:4%mole which reached a R-squared of 0.9986. High-pressure and temperature experiments were carried out in a custom-designed combustion chamber with optical access, which has two optical wedged sapphire Windows (2o) to avid etalon effects. CO-absorption spectra were validated by a comparative study with HiTran Database while a free-calibration methodology using scanned-wavelength direct absorption TDL was investigated for future characterizing experiments of ISC. Typical Signal to Noise Ratios (SNRs) were above 40, although for the static glass cell a value of SNR = 14 was observed. The linestrengths for R(11) of _0= 2 _00 = 0 were also measured and validated with HiTran. The calibration experiments showed the potential of 2.3 _m TLD-CO sensor for non-invasive, in-situ combustion monitoring of CO generated at conditions to those of ISC experiments.Maestrí

Análisis de valor económico agregado (EVA) Y valor agregado de mercado (MVA) para las empresas del sector petrolero que cotizan en la bolsa de valores de Colombia entre 2008 Y 2011

En este trabajo se realiza un análisis del Valor Económico Agregado EVA y Valor Agregado de Mercado MVA para las empresas del sector petrolero que cotizan en la Bolsa de Valores de Colombia entre los años 2008 y 2011; describiendo los usos y aplicaciones de los indicadores financieros EVA y MVA. Este análisis se realizo a través de la información financiera obtenida del Balance General y Estados de Resultados publicados por las empresas en los periodos de tiempo establecidos para el análisis. El costo de capital se determinó mediante la metodología WACC (Weighted Average Cost of Capital), determinando el costo del patrimonio mediante el método CAPM (Capital Asset Pricing Model), para el cálculo del EVA y la diferencia de la capitalización bursátil y el valor actual en libros para el cálculo del MVA. Estos indicadores fueron empleados y comparados para mostrar la relación y diferencia entre ambos, lo cual permite evaluar el comportamiento del mercado con respecto al de la empresa y de esta forma contribuir en la toma de decisiones de los directivos y/o accionistas.In this work there carries out an analysis of the Economic Value Added EVA and Value Added of Market MVA for the companies of the petroleum sector that quote in the Bolsa de Valores of Colombia between the year 2008 and 2011; describing the uses and applications of the financial indicators EVA and MVA. This analysis I realize across the financial information obtained of the General Balance sheet and States of Results published by the companies in the periods of time established for the analysis. The capital cost decided by means of the methodology WACC (Weighted Average Cost of Capital), determining the cost of the heritage by means of the method CAPM (Capital Asset Pricing Model), for the calculation of EVA and the difference of the stock exchange capitalization and the current value in books for the calculation of the MVA. These indicators were used and compared to show the relation and difference between both, which allows to evaluate the behavior of the market with regard to that of the company and of this form to contribute in the capture of decisions of the executives and / or shareholders

Se estudian los diques fusibles, como estructuras que ofrecen mayor seguridad para el drenaje de los caudales altos de inundación de la región La Mojana, la cual es una zona que periódicamente está sujeta a inundaciones causadas por los desbordamientos del río Cauca, con intensidades y duraciones prácticamente impredecibles. Dado que el vertimiento por los diques fusibles es gradual y controlado, se genera mayor confiabilidad para el sector agrícola por la disminución del riesgo de inundación y la reducción de las perdidas económicas debidas a las mismas
