    Localization in Wireless PAN

    Get PDF
This bachelor thesis deals with the problem of localization in wireless sensor network. First, ZigBit 900 Modules equipped with chip for wireless communication (AT86RF212) are used to measure the signal strength in the area of Brno University of Technology. The recorded values are then processed using trilateration localization techniques and Euclidean propagation methods. After detecting negative effects on the calculation of the position sought, a filtering method for the calculated values is proposed. In addition, an algorithm determining a sufficient number of reference values for loss rate is also designed to locate all the positions sought. By virtue of these algorithms the trilateration localization method is optimized.

Evaluation of conduction eigenchannels of an adatom probed by an STM tip

Ballistic conductance through a single atom adsorbed on a metallic surface and probed by a scanning tunneling microscope (STM) tip can be decomposed into eigenchannel contributions, which can be potentially obtained from shot noise measurements. Our density functional theory calculations provide evidence that transmission probabilities of these eigenchannels encode information on the modifications of the adatom's local density of states caused by its interaction with the STM tip. In the case of open shell atoms, this can be revealed in nonmonotonic behavior of the eigenchannel's transmissions as a function of the tip-adatom separation.Comment: 4.5 pages, 5 figures, REVTe

Activities in the space that formalizes social responsibility from the perspective of completed research

Lately, the subject of responsibility has gained importance in the context of the economic crisis. In economy, it took the form of social responsibility. It concerns activities additionally undertaken by organizations in order to establish correct relations with their employees and society, as well as with regard to the natural environment. Therefore, a very important role is played by the ethos of the undertaken socially responsible actions. To a large extent, it is reflected in the ethical dimension. Thus, in enterprises, codes of ethics have become a base of axiology in the building of the organizational cultures. Unfortunately, Polish companies—as shown in the paper—still attach a lesser role to the ethical dimension of business.Publication of English-language versions of the volumes of the "Annales. The article explores the topic of students’ motivation and course books, that is how the content of the course books influence students’ motivation, but also how the teachers use the course books and teachers books in the classroom. The two-way research, aimed at finding answers to the main research questions, was based on the specially prepared survey conducted among teachers, but also on the (indicated by the investigated teachers as the most usable) course-book analysis.  Article visualizations

Conscience as a Phenomenon to Counter Decoupling

    Get PDF
Decoupling has been diagnosed since the second half of the last century. It is conceived as a kind of separation, appearing in a variety of organisations, in situations in which established principles or rules, aimed at normalising interpersonal relationships or governing the rules of conduct, despite being officially established, are  not implemented. Another situation may also occur. It arises when individuals know and accept the guidelines, but for multiple – often subjective – reasons, they do not materialize as they are blocked by individual decisions. This results in serious consequences of a social, economic, legal or managerial nature. How they be prevented? Solutions based upon ethics seem to be a sound base to counteract the destructive consequences of decoupling. Human conscience is one of the fundamental ethical categories. Deep rooted in every person, it shapes behaviour, even though its impact can also be minimised. It turns out that a properly formed conscience gives better results in personal activity on both the individual and human levels. Also, conscience enables the correct interpretation of what is prohibited and what is expected, and thus becomes the perfect tool for countering decoupling. Finally, it can be assumed that as long as man has a well-constituted conscience and follows its guidance, the negative effects of a split between the recognized rules and their actual observance can be minimised. The “Annales. PCR identification of rpgip1 transgene in Pisum sativum L.

Recent efforts to increase Ascochyta blight resistance of pea have focused on the introduction of foreign genes by genetic engineering. The rpgip1 gene from Rubus idaeus was introduced by Agrobacterium-mediated transformation into Pisum sativum, cv. Baroness with the aim to increase pea resistance to fungal diseases. Notwithstanding this success, practical applications have to be preceded by the development of analytical methods for screening. Singleplex and multiplex PCR assays were employed to test primer efficiency in identifying the rpgip1 transgene in 11 pea genotypes. Five from ten primer combinations were effective in identifying transgene or insert sequences. PCR amplification using five other primer pairs revealed unspecific amplicons. According to in silico analyses, they arose from retrotransposons and pea genes including homologues of rpgip1. Two sets of primers were prepared with the aim of simultaneous amplification of different rpgip1 fragments. Fingerprints were sums of bands observed from individual pairs so the utility of multiplex assays was demonstrated. An additional advantage of multiplex PCR was clear differentiation between the transgene and endogenous pgip genes present in the donor species, R. idaeus. Sequencing of two PCR products confirms that no substantial rearrangements at the rpgip1 transgene arose during development of transgenic plants. However, a deletion occurred at 59 bp in the PGIP+VST line and a substitution at 392 bp in the PGIP line. The frequency of point mutations was not high (1.1 × 10-3) and comparable with the frequency expected for host genes based on the neutral theory of molecular evolution.European Unio

Raising student bilingualism through foreign language (English) teacher professional involvement

    Get PDF
The bilingual process is widely observed among many people and many cultures. Out of the many different forms of bilingualism, the form of bilingualism that most often appears is the subsequent one, being the result of learning a second language in school settings. When developing this type of bilingualism, both the language competences of language teachers and the quality of their teaching talent are very important. In order to assess this type of interdependence, a study that focuses on the teachers’ skills and competences, on the one hand, and the impact L2 teachers have on students, on the other hand, was designed. The study involved 50 teachers and 100 students taught by them, all of them attending vocational secondary schools in southern Poland. All participants of the study (i.e. both the teachers and the students) were to answer six verification questions included in the Matura exam 2018. The results obtained during the research indicate the existence of an interdependence between the actual level of proficiency of foreign language (FL) teachers and the final evel of L2 proficiency presented by their students. Generally, the students led by language teachers with a higher overall level of communicative competence showed an overall better command of English in the survey. The bilingual process is widely observed among many people and many cultures. Impact of PWM Control Frequency onto Efficiency of a 1 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

    Get PDF
The paper explains how to select the best PWM control frequency for specific Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) to achieve its maximum efficiency. Examinations were carried out for a PMSM unit with the power of 1 kW, rated speed of 1000 rpm and rated torque of 6 Nm. The PWM frequency ranged from 4 kHz to 20 kHz with the increment of 1 kHz. Measurements were taken for each of the foregoing frequencies, for the load torques of 2 Nm, 4 Nm and 6 Nm and for the rotation speeds of 300 rpm, 500 rpm, 750 rpm, 1000 rpm and 1200 rpm to find out efficiency of the PMSM motor. The achieved results make it possible to properly adjust the PWM control frequency for each PMSM motor to operate the motor in the most efficient way and, in consequence, save energy consumed by that motor
