Preliminary psychometric characteristics of the polish version of the religious commitment inventory-10 (rci-10-pl) by everett worthington and colleagues
The article presents the theoretical background and the psychometric properties of the Polish version
of the Religious Commitment Inventory-10 (RCI-10-PL). Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA)
was conducted on two samples: 273 participants (Sample A) and 308 participants (Sample B). The
results of the CFA showed an acceptable fit of empirical data to the one-factor and two-factor
theoretical models, the latter model having a slightly better fit. Moreover, we obtained satisfactory
values of the reliability coefficient. Cronbach alpha coefficients for the Polish version of the RCI
scales ranged from .82 to .95. Test-retest reliability correlations ranged from .90 to .91 for a five-
-week interval between ratings. We also found positive correlations between specific dimensions of
RCI-10-PL and religious attitudes, ethical sensibility, and focus on the achievement of harmony in
life, which confirms the external validity of the instrument. The results of the analysis conducted
on Polish samples are similar to the results obtained from American samples
Jak nas widzą studenci? Umiejętności interpersonalne nauczycieli akademickich w opinii studentów
The article provides the results from the research done at faculties of mathematics
and natural sciences at the University of Silesia on students’ opinions concerning academic
teachers’ social skills. The research concerned three areas regarded as most important
due to their contribution to effective education, or the ability to motivate, communicate
knowledge and assess students. These skills, which in fact are prerequisites for effective
teaching, are particularly significant from psychological perspective, for they facilitate
good student-tutor relationship, which is as important as disseminating and shaping of
factual knowledge. The results presented in the paper, as well as reflection on forming
interpersonal relationships in the process of academic education may well aid teachers
and serve as suggestions how to improve their skills
Religijność a innowacyjność : Psychologiczne perspektywy badawcze
The aim of the present paper is to describe psychological research perspectives of
religiosity and its connections with attitudes towards innovativeness. Primarily, innovativeness
will be treated as a social variable. With references to Peter Drucker works it will be defined
as innovation processes which are determined by individual and organizational acting
factors as e.g. consciousness of purpose, obstinacy and persistence, operating from a sense of
a larger purpose. These processes can be the target of individual and organizational learning
and development.
The first part of the article justifies that religion being a significant reference point in
a modern society demands more research. Moreover, a broad discussion on this subject can
be characterized as an unsystematic, simplified and ideologically engaged. In the second part
of the article author presents his own model of an innovativeness process within organization
which consists of four sub-processes: invention, motivation, cognition and communication.
The model includes psychological factors which regulate innovativeness processes and can
be treated as a proposition for testing and further empirical research. The author indicates
the correlation of this factors with religiosity. Third part of the article is a review of psychological
research results and theoretical models which can be consulted during research on
religiosity and its relation with innovativeness.
The paper shows also lack of consensus on how religiosity as a psychological phenomenon
determines human organizational and particularly innovative behavior. The author’s hope is
that model and ideas presented in the paper will prompt psychological research of religious
impact into innovation practices in modern organizations and organized social life
Wstępna charakterystyka psychometryczna polskiej wersji kwestionariusza Religious Commitment Inventory-10 (Rci-10-Pl) Everetta Worthingtona i współpracowników
Artykuł przedstawia podstawy teoretyczne oraz właściwości psychometryczne polskiej wersji
Religious Commitment Inventory-10 (RCI-10-PL) autorstwa E. Worthingtona i współpracowników
(2003). Konfirmacyjna analiza czynnikowa wyników badań przeprowadzonych na dwóch próbach
liczących razem 581 osób, pokazała zadowalające dopasowanie do danych zarówno modelu jednoczynnikowego,
Psychologiczne i etyczne aspekty zarządzania organizacją biurokratyczną
Poruszanie zagadnień etycznych w odniesieniu do pracy w organizacjach
Organizacje wprawdzie deklarują gotowość do przestrzegania
The dynamic development of road infrastructure negatively influences the natural environment and animals using habitats near roads. The main negative effects of this process are primarily: loss and fragmentation of habitats. Another problem is an increase in pollutants and noise intensity in the vicinity of roads. An important problem is negative influence of traffic noise on animals and especially birds. Road noise generate by vehicles disturb vocal communication between birds, mainly in the time of pair formation and early incubation period. Difficulties in communication evoked by noise seem to be one of the main problems in functioning in noisy surroundings. The main functions of birds’ singing are related with territorial defence and mating a partner. Another important effect on birds’ functioning near roads results in the masking of important biological signals due to noise. Masking important signals for territorial defence or partner selection can have as a consequence a negative influence on reproductive success. Species of birds which emit low frequency sounds are particularly exposed to this negative impact. As a results of traffic noise the changes in the volume and frequency of emitted sounds during singing are observed. Some authors pay attention to such factors as local climate or habitat and vegetation structure, because they have an important influence on the propagation of traffic noise. Most of the studies carried out previously concerns the breeding season, and only a few works to describe the impact of noise on birds during migration or wintering. The most frequently reported problem for researchers is to assess the densities of breeding birds near the roadside. The majority of species react with a drop in numbers at roadsides. There are species which are also known to appear with higher density at roadsides. Usually this is related with a richer plant vegetation structure at roadsides and the appearance of the so-called “edge effect”. Some results indicate that bird density at forest peripheries can reach values 40% higher than in the deep forest. An explanation of causes for such a state of matters are the higher numbers of invertebrates found at forest edges. The important factor influencing bird populations breeding at roadsides is also nest predation. Noise and visual disturbance can modifying predator pressure near roads.
