Development of a Solar Panel Control Strategy for Tracking Maximum Power Generation / Desenvolvimento de uma estratégia de controlo de painéis solares para rastrear a produção máxima de energia
The solar panel is an essential energy conversion component of photovoltaic (PV) systems, an indispensable key for converting clean and sustainable solar energy into electricity. Over the last few years, there has been a growing demand for renewable sources due to sustainable development and global warming. Therefore, this work describes the prototype of an electronic supervision and control system for the orientation of a bench solar panel. The developed tracker prototype has as its core an electronic circuit based on a commercial microcontroller model Tennsy 3.0, within which the control algorithm is embedded. In addition to the controller, a supervisory software was developed to monitor solar cells’ status in real-time. The supervisory showed the angle of the solar plate and values of luminosity and acquired power. Simulations results were presented to show that the amount of energy generated can reach 37 %.
ARCog: an aerial robotics cognitive architecture
E cient algorithm integration is a key issue in aerial robotics. However, only a few integration
solutions rely on a cognitive approach. Cognitive approaches break down complex problems
into independent units that may deal with progressively lower level data interfaces, e.g., sensors
and actuators, up to higher level data, such as reasoning and decision. A cognitive architecture
defines information flow among units to produce emergent intelligent behavior. Despite the
improvements in autonomous decision making, several key issues remain open. A problem is
a selection, coordination, and decision making related to the several specialized tasks required
for fulfilling mission objectives. This research work addresses decision making for a cognitive
architecture used to Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) missions, called ARCog, an acronym
for Aerial Robotics Cognitive Architecture. The proposed architecture lays the groundwork
for the development of a software platform aligned with the requirements of state-of-the-art
technology in the field. The system is designed to provide high-level decision making. Besides,
the architecture enables real-time decision-making with intelligent social behavior among the
agents. The main algorithms used to test the architecture in an outdoor environment are detailed
as well as their results. The experiments confirmed the success of the proposed cognitive
architecture. The partial results have shown technical feasibility and e ectiveness of the ARCog
in di erent scenarios, such as Search and Rescue, Inspection and Surveillance missions. No entanto,
Além disso, a arquitetura
cognitiva proposta.
The present paper proposes a system to manage, control and monitor a group of LED luminaires of a street lighting system, being able to control the light intensity of the luminaire and monitoring the power consumption, detection of pedestrians, fault conditions, environmental parameters such as temperature and humidity. Additionally, the system contains a voltage sensor coupled to the grid in order to monitor and manage the power quality parameters. Basically, the system can be divided in three essential parts. The first one regards the smart module, called in this work as SM, which has the responsibility to sensing the parameters stemming from power grid as well as luminaire. The second part is the control module (CM), which has the aim to coordinate the data received from each smart module, storing and subsequently sending the data to the supervisory system. Besides, the control module also has temperature and humidity sensors in order to check and register environmental conditions, providing, in this way, reliability of the measured data. The supervisory system (SS) consists of the final part of the proposed system and it is responsible to save the data in a local memory, to analyze and to monitor problems or even possible faults and sending commands to each CM and/or a respective SM. With the aim to evaluate the proposed system, it was performed experiments to demonstrate the system operation as well as the quality analysis capability. Due to the energy savings potential provided by the technology, it was also studied the economic feasibility of the prototype, aiming a future commercial product. The results have shown that the proposed system is scalable, flexible and efficient.O presente trabalho propõe um sistema eletrônico que permite gerenciar, monitorar parâmetros e controlar de forma descentralizada um conjunto de luminárias à LED pertencentes a um sistema de iluminação pública.
Is there association between acyl-ghrelin and inflammation in hemodialysis patients?

Wind Generation Impact in Transmission Expansion Planning
This research proposes a post-stage investment analysis in the transmission expansion network planning problem considering the intermittence of renewable energy sources, especially wind power sources. The main goal of this study is to analyze the voltage profiles in all the system buses and the level of electrical losses in the lines using AC flow for impact evaluation of renewable energy insertion. This research also performs an additional analysis considering wind energy insertion during the planning stage. This analysis is to demonstrate the effect in the stage of investment in transmission lines. The variability of these sources is represented through scenarios obtained by the K-means classification algorithm that allows the preservation of the correlation among generating stations. The methodology performance is tested using the IEEE 24-bus system, which is modified to include a significant share of wind energy

Comprehensive Direct Georeferencing of Aerial Images for Unmanned Aerial Systems Applications
Optical image sensors are the most common remote sensing data acquisition devices present in Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS). In this context, assigning a location in a geographic frame of reference to the acquired image is a necessary task in the majority of the applications. This process is denominated direct georeferencing when ground control points are not used. Despite it applies simple mathematical fundamentals, the complete direct georeferencing process involves much information, such as camera sensor characteristics, mounting measurements, attitude and position of the UAS, among others. In addition, there are many rotations and translations between the different reference frames, among many other details, which makes the whole process a considerable complex operation. Another problem is that manufacturers and software tools may use different reference frames posing additional difficulty when implementing the direct georeferencing. As this information is spread among many sources, researchers may face difficulties on having a complete vision of the method. In fact, there is absolutely no paper in the literature that explain this process in a comprehensive way. In order to supply this implicit demand, this paper presents a comprehensive method for direct georeferencing of aerial images acquired by cameras mounted on UAS, where all required information, mathematical operations and implementation steps are explained in detail. Finally, in order to show the practical use of the method and to prove its accuracy, both simulated and real flights were performed, where objects of the acquired images were georeferenced
