Prospects for Measuring Vtb via s-channel Single Top at ATLAS
The production of single top quarks via the electroweak interaction promises to provide new opportunities to both test the Standard Model and search for new physics. In particular, electroweak top production provides the only means to directly measure the CKM matrix element Vtb at ATLAS. The s-channel has the lowest rate, but is the best theoretically understood mechanism of electroweak top production. An evaluation of the potential for background suppression and Vtb measurement in this channel is presented. It is found that significant background suppression can be achieved and Vtb can be measured in the s-channel to a statistical precision of 2.8% after 30 inverse femtobarns of integrated luminosity at the LHC

Photochemistry and photophysics of thienocarbazoles
Two methylated thienocarbazoles and two of their synthetic nitro-precursors have been examined by absorption, luminescence, laser flash photolysis and photoacoustic techniques. Their spectroscopic and photophysical characterization involves fluorescence spectra, fluorescence quantum yields and lifetimes, and phosphorescence spectra and phosphorescence lifetimes for all the compounds. Triplet-singlet difference absorption spectra, triplet molar absorption coefficients, triplet lifetimes, intersystem crossing S-1 similar tosimilar to--> T-1 and singlet molecular oxygen yields were obtained for the thienocarbazoles. In the case of the thienocarbazoles it was found that the lowest-lying singlet and triplet excited states, S, and T-1, are of pi,pi* origin, whereas for their precursors S-1 is n,pi*, and T-1 is pi,pi*. In both thienocarbazoles it appears that the thianaphthene ring dictates the S, T, yield, albeit there is less predominance of that ring in the triplet state of the linear thienocarbazole, which leads to a decrease in the observed Phi(T) value.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Evaluation of Hungarian Wines for Resveratrol by Overpressured Layer Chromatography
A method, including solid phase extraction sample preparation, overpressured layer chromatographic separation and subsequent densitometric evaluation, was developed for measurement of total resveratrol (cis- and trans-isomers) content of wine. The amount of resveratrol was determined in wine samples from different winemaking regions of Hungary. The total resveratrol was high in Hungarian red wines (3.6–11 mg/L), and much lower in white ones (0.04–1.5 mg/L)
Study of physiological maturity of melon seeds by enzymatic changes.
Thus, this study aimed to determine physiological and enzymatic changes during the maturation process of melon seeds of the cultivar BRS Anton, obtained from fruits at different maturation stages and subjected to post-harvest storage, by the action of total proteins and the enzymes catalase, peroxidase, and superoxide dismutase. Melon fruits were grown in a greenhouse at Embrapa Vegetables and harvested at five different times: 30, 45, 60, 75, and 90 days after anthesis (DAA)
