Vicars of horror: the children of the former sex slaves of the Japanese Army in Kim Dong Won and Byun Young Joo films

Nacidos a la sombra del holocausto asiático, los hijos de las ex esclavas de los militares japoneses tienen la palabra en el Cine Documental Independiente surcoreano. Hijos de sangre, hijos adoptivos, hijos del espanto, hijos de la esperanza. Ellos son, como sostiene Young (2000), vicarios del pasado, los herederos directos del trauma y el dolor de sus madres. El murmullo (1995) y Mi propia respiración (1999) de Byun Young Joo, y Hace 63 años (2008) de Kim Dong Won incorporan breves relatos de los hijos de algunas de las ex mujeres de confort. No ocupan un lugar central ni dominante en las respectivas narrativas, aunque logran desplazar la discusión hacia los dilemas de la transmisión filial del pasado. ¿Qué posición toman respecto de la barbarie sufrida por ellas? ¿Qué características adquiere el lazo madre-hijo/a? El presente artículo retoma el concepto de posmemoria de Hirsch (1997) y los debates regionales sobre el tema, posmemoria Han de Chu (2008), a fin de responder a los interrogantes sugeridos. La tesis central del trabajo sugiere que los relatos de los hijos de las ex mujeres de confort representados en las películas seleccionadas trascienden la cuestión nacional (han) y posicionan la discusión en la revalorización del mundo materno.Born in the shadow of the Asian Holocaust, the children of the former sexual slaves of the Japanese Army testify in the South Korean Independent Documentary Films. Children blood, adopted children, children of horror, children of hope. They are, as Young (2000) pointed out, vicar of the past. They are the direct heirs of the trauma and pain of their mother says. The murmuring (1995) and My Own Breathing (1999) directed by Byun Young Joo, and Kim Dong Won"s 63 years on (2008) have included short stories of the children of some of the former comfort women. They do not have a central and dominant place in their respective narratives, but they open a new discussion: the transition of historical traumas. What are the children positions regarding to their mother"s suffering? What are the main features of the mother-child relationship? From the theoretical perspective of posmemoria suggested by Hirsch (1997) and Chu (2008)"s posmemoria Han, this articles attempts to answer the research questions. The central thesis of this work proposes that the testimonies of the former comfort women"s children represented in the selected films goes beyond the national question of han. The Murmuring (1995) et My Own Breathing (1999) de Byun Young Joo, et 63 Years On (2008) de Kim Dong Won brefs contiennent des récits des fils de quelques ex femmes de réconfort. Ceux-ci n occupent ni un rôle central ni dominant dans les dites narratives filmiques, mais parviennent à déplacer le débat vers les éventualités de la communication filial du passé. Quelle position ceux-ci ont pris au sujet de la barbarie soufferte par ces femmes ? Quelle position a acquis le lien mère-fils/fille ? Cet article reprend le concept de post-mémoire de Hirsch (1997) et les débats régionaux sur le sujet, post-mémoire Han de Chu (2008), afin de répondre aux questions suggérées. Desafíos del Nuevo Cine Documental Independiente surcoreano: entre realidad y ficción en Mezcla Cheonggyecheon: una historia de hierro de Kelvin Par

El cine documental independiente surcoreano data de fines de los años 90. La historia de un país signado por la violencia política, las dictaduras y una censura extrema (reforzada por el conflicto con Corea del Norte) provocaron que los movimientos de cine documental surgieran recién en el marco de la lucha por la democratización del país y florecieran con la llegada de la democracia y la disminución de las leyes de control ideológico a los medios de comunicación en general. El Nuevo Cine Documental Independiente coreano ha dado a conocer al mundo las traumáticas huellas del pasado reciente en la sociedad actual. La Guerra de Corea, la división del país, la separación de las familias, la constante violación a los derechos humanos, los años de colonización japonesa, el costo social de la modernidad y el desarrollo, entre otros avatares del siglo XX. Con un fuerte tono típico del cine político militante, el documental ensayo o experimental no ocupó un lugar importante para la diversidad de cineastas que constituyen esta corriente. Sin embargo, en febrero de 2011 se estrenó una obra que revolucionó los modos de ver y representar la historia en cine. Mezcla Cheonggyecheon: un sueño de hierro (Cheonggyecheon Medley, Kelvin Park) constituye el primer intento por posicionar al documental en un espacio híbrido, original y sumamente creativo de lo real y lo ficcional. ¿Qué estrategias representacionales utiliza el director para problematizar la modernidad y el desarrollo? ¿Cómo se relaciona el autor con su obra y de qué manera trasgrede el conocimiento del mundo histórico? Responderé a estas preguntas a través de un análisis exhaustivo del film desde una perspectiva sociopolítica.In the late 90s appeared the South Korean independent documentary films. Due to the story of a country marked by political violence, dictatorships and extreme censorship (reinforced by the conflict with North Korea), the documentary film movements arise in the context of democratization social movements with the reduction of ideological control laws to mass media in general. The New Korean Independent Documentary Films have unveiled the world the most traumatic traces of the recent past in current society. The Korean War, the division of the country, the separation of families, the constant violation of human rights, the Japanese colonization, the dark social side of modernity and development, among other issues that shaped Korean XX century. Unlike political films, experimental documentary films have not been developed at all. However, in February 2011, a work that revolutionized the ways of seeing and representing history in film breaks the tendency. Cheonggyecheon Meddley: A Dream of Iron is the first attempt to position a documentary in a hybrid, original and highly creative space where reality and fiction are confused. What representational strategies used the director to problematize modernity and development? How is the author related to his work and in which ways transgress the knowledge of the historical world? Development trends of tafoni forms (incipient stages)

Forms called tafoni, diversified in different stages, are complex natural systems. The systematic register of their measurements is performed in order to infer relative ages and to use the results to reconstruct landscape evolution. The analysis if depth measures of the cavities developed into several tafoni demonstrates, for incipiemt cases in Galicia (NW of Iberian Peninsula), trends with different evolutionary trajectories. Depth measures were processed with robust statistical techniques. The development of tafoni combines linear and non-linear phases. This behaviour is related to the incerase of complexity through self-organisation

Description and nomenclature of the tafoni features (cavernous rock formis): research approaches in granite terrains

Scientific terms have a descriptive, conceptual and categorical meaning. In the geomorphic research the applied terms can describe the landform features on the Earth’s surface; also, they can reflect the different development conditions and stage of the studied landform; moreover, they are always related to the key concepts about the landform explanation. So, whole terminology has a very important role in the geomorphic research because supports the landform nomenclature. However, a suitable nomenclature according this finality must be unequivocal. But in the study of the cavernous features on granite rocks there is often a co-existence of many terms applied to the same form-types. Also, there is a literal or modified translation of local terms from regional studies. And the terms acceptance and their spreading by the researchers are very diverse along time. The situation can generate a conceptual and a categorical uncertainty in the knowledge of the cavernous granite forms. This work deals with several questions about this terms meaning on the light to the research approaches in the granite terrains. The earliest scenery where the landforms were recognised and termed dates from the last years of the XIX century. Starting from this time, two general terms are usually applied to report the basal or lateral cavities developed in granite rocks. The goal of the present research is to analyze trade relations between South Korea and Argentina by comparing Korean medium-sized firms and multinationals which decide to invest in our country. Mixing in convective thermal fluxes in unsteady nonhomogeneous flows generating complex three dimensional vorticity patterns

Diffusion and scaling of the velocity and vorticity in a thermoelectric driven heating and cooling experimental device is presented in order to map the different patterns and transitions between two and three dimensional convection in an enclosure with complex driven flows. The size of the water tank is of 0.2 x 0.2 x 0.1 m and the heat sources or sinks can be regulated both in power and sign [1-3]. The thermal convective driven flows are generated by means of Peltier effects in 4 wall extended positions of 0.05 x 0.05 cm each. The parameter range of convective cell array varies strongly with the Topology of the boundary conditions. Side heat and momentum fluxes are a function of Rayleigh, Peclet and Nusselt numbers, [4-6] Visualizations are performed by PIV, Particle tracking and shadowgraph. The structure of the flow is shown by setting up a convective flow generated by buoyant heat fluxes. The experiments described here investigate high Prandtl number mixing using brine and fresh water in order to form a density interface and low Prandtl number mixing with temperature gradients. The evolution of the mixing fronts are compared and the topological characteristics of the merging of the convective structures are examined for different configurations. Based on two dimensional Vorticity spectral analysis, new techniques can be very useful to determine the evolution of scales considering the multi-fractal structure of the convective flows.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version

El enfoque de la investigación considera la percepción y experiencia de los actores locales sobre esta cuestión, en el territorio de la Denominación de Origen Ribeira Sacra (Noroeste de España). La metodología está basada en la realización de entrevistas en profundidad. La cultura del vino, junto con su paisaje y patrimonio, favorece la consolidación de las estrategias turísticas. Las sinergias entre cultura del vino, identidad y turismo generan valores esenciales para el desarrollo rural.The role played by synergies between wine culture, territorial identity and tourism may be crucial for rural development. This research focuses on the perception and experiences about this topic by the local actors in the territory of the Denomination of Origin Ribeira Sacra (NW Spain). The research relied on twelve in-depth interviews. The wine culture, along with its landscape and heritage, favors the consolidation of tourism strategies.
