A sufficient condition for starlikeness of order α

    Get PDF
We obtain a sufficient condition for starlikeness of order α, |f′(z)−λ(f(z)/z)+λ−1|<M=Mn(λ,α), where λ∈[0,1], α∈[0,1] and the function f(z)=z+an+1zn+1+⋯ is analytic in the unit disc U

Briot–Bouquet differential superordinations and sandwich theorems

AbstractBriot–Bouquet differential subordinations play a prominent role in the theory of differential subordinations. In this article we consider the dual problem of Briot–Bouquet differential superordinations. Let β and γ be complex numbers, and let Ω be any set in the complex plane C. The function p analytic in the unit disk U is said to be a solution of the Briot–Bouquet differential superordination ifΩ⊂{p(z)+zp′(z)βp(z)+γ|z∈U}. The authors determine properties of functions p satisfying this differential superordination and also some generalized versions of it.In addition, for sets Ω1 and Ω2 in the complex plane the authors determine properties of functions p satisfying a Briot–Bouquet sandwich of the formΩ1⊂{p(z)+zp′(z)βp(z)+γ|z∈U}⊂Ω2. Generalizations of this result are also considered

Aide-mémoire: Improving a Project’s Collective Memory via Pull Request–Issue Links

    Get PDF
Links between pull request and the issues they address document and accelerate the development of a software project but are often omitted. We present a new tool, Aide-mémoire, to suggest such links when a developer submits a pull request or closes an issue, smoothly integrating into existing workflows. In contrast to previous state-of-the-art approaches that repair related commit histories, Aide-mémoire is designed for continuous, real-time, and long-term use, employing Mondrian forest to adapt over a project’s lifetime and continuously improve traceability. Aide-mémoire is tailored for two specific instances of the general traceability problem—namely, commit to issue and pull request to issue links, with a focus on the latter—and exploits data inherent to these two problems to outperform tools for general purpose link recovery. Our approach is online, language-agnostic, and scalable. We evaluate over a corpus of 213 projects and six programming languages, achieving a mean average precision of 0.95. Adopting Aide-mémoire is both efficient and effective: A programmer need only evaluate a single suggested link 94% of the time, and 16% of all discovered links were originally missed by developers

Convex subordination chains and injective mappings in Cn

AbstractIn this paper we continue the work related to convex subordination chains in C and Cn, and prove that if f(z)=z+∑k=2∞Ak(zk) is a holomorphic mapping on the Euclidean unit ball Bn in Cn such that ∑k=2∞k2‖Ak‖⩽1, a:[0,1]→[0,∞) is a function of class C2 on (0,1) and continuous on [0,1], such that a(1)=0, a(t)>0, ta′(t)>−1/2 for t∈(0,1), and if a(⋅) satisfies a differential equation on (0,1), then f(z,t)=a(t2)Df(tz)(tz)+f(tz) is a convex subordination chain over (0,1] and the mapping F(z)=a(‖z‖2)Df(z)(z)+f(z) is injective on Bn. We also present certain coefficient bounds which provide sufficient conditions for univalence, quasiregularity and starlikeness for the chain f(z,t). Finally we give some examples of convex subordination chains over (0,1]

Monthly average daily global and diffuse solar radiation based on sunshine duration and clearness index for Brasov, Romania

    Get PDF
The main objective of this study is to develop single location appropriate models for the estimation of the monthly average daily global and diffuse horizontal solar radiation for Brasov, Romania. The study focuses particularly on models based on the sunshine duration and clearness index. The data used for the calibration of the models were collected during a period of 4 yr, between November 2008 and October 2012, at the Transilvania University of Brasov. The testing and validation of the models was carried out using data from the online SoDa database for Brasov for the year 2005. Different statistical error tests were applied to evaluate the accuracy of the models. The predicted values are also compared with values from three other known models concerning the global and diffuse solar radiation. A new mixed model was developed for the estimation of monthly average daily global horizontal solar radiation. The data processing was performed by means of a real-time interface developed with LabVIEW graphical programming language. The parameters taken into account were the relative sunshine, the clearness index, the extraterrestrial radiation, the latitude and the longitude. The methodology is simple and effective and may be applied for any region. Its effectiveness was proven through comparison with global models

Advancements in photovoltaic cell and system technologies

Renewable energy undergoes a continuous development and improvement being driven by the growth in energy demand, the need to reduce pollution, and the increase in investment and policies at national and international levels. The photovoltaic solar energy lately became an important pillar for renewable energy to reach global and European targets in the share of renewable electricity. The first target for the energy generated by photovoltaic systems is 10% from the total European electricity production until 2020 [1], and until 2050, 60% from electricity generation has to be from photovoltaic solar energy and wind [2]..

    The magnetoelectrochemical switch

    Get PDF
In the field of spintronics, the archetype solid-state two-terminal device is the spin valve, where the resistance is controlled by the magnetization configuration. We show here how this concept of spin-dependent switch can be extended to magnetic electrodes in solution, by magnetic control of their chemical environment. Appropriate nanoscale design allows a huge enhancement of the magnetic force field experienced by paramagnetic molecular species in solutions, which changes between repulsive and attractive on changing the electrodes' magnetic orientations. Specifically, the field gradient force created within a sub-100-nm-sized nanogap separating two magnetic electrodes can be reversed by changing the orientation of the electrodes' magnetization relative to the current flowing between the electrodes. This can result in a breaking or making of an electric nanocontact, with a change of resistance by a factor of up to 103. The results reveal how an external field can impact chemical equilibrium in the vicinity of nanoscale magnetic circuits

In this paper we will determinate the first absolute moments for Bernstein, Szász-Mirakjan, Bleimann-Butzer-Hahn, Meyer-König and Zeller operators. For the Szász-Mirakjan operators we give some properties with the absolute moment of high order

A general class of linear and positive operators of Kantorovich-type is constructed. The operators of this type which preserve exactly two test functions from the set {e0,e1,e2}\{e_0, e_1, e_2\} are determined and their approximation properties and convergence theorems are studied
