Effective partitioning method for computing weighted Moore-Penrose inverse
We introduce a method and an algorithm for computing the weighted
Moore-Penrose inverse of multiple-variable polynomial matrix and the related
algorithm which is appropriated for sparse polynomial matrices. These methods
and algorithms are generalizations of algorithms developed in [M.B. Tasic, P.S.
Stanimirovic, M.D. Petkovic, Symbolic computation of weighted Moore-Penrose
inverse using partitioning method, Appl. Math. Comput. 189 (2007) 615-640] to
multiple-variable rational and polynomial matrices and improvements of these
algorithms on sparse matrices. Also, these methods are generalizations of the
partitioning method for computing the Moore-Penrose inverse of rational and
polynomial matrices introduced in [P.S. Stanimirovic, M.B. Tasic, Partitioning
method for rational and polynomial matrices, Appl. Math. Comput. 155 (2004)
137-163; M.D. Petkovic, P.S. Stanimirovic, Symbolic computation of the
Moore-Penrose inverse using partitioning method, Internat. J. Comput. Math. 82
(2005) 355-367] to the case of weighted Moore-Penrose inverse. Algorithms are
implemented in the symbolic computational package MATHEMATICA
The Effect of Randomness on the Mott State
We reinvestigate the competition between the Mott and the Anderson insulator
state in a one-dimensional disordered fermionic system by a combination of
instanton and renormalization group methods. Tracing back both the
compressibility and the ac-conductivity to a vanishing kink energy of the
electronic displacement field we do not find any indication for the existence
of an intermediate (Mott glass) phase.Comment: 4 page
Measurement of Bone Mineral Density in Children with Cerebral Palsy from an Ethical Issue to a Diagnostic Necessity
© 2020 Jasmin S. Nurković et al. Introduction. Due to concerns about cumulative radiation exposure in the pediatric population, it is not standard practice to perform dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) analysis in the diagnostic process of musculoskeletal disorders, such as cerebral palsy (CP). This study aimed to evaluate the bone mineral density (BMD) in children with CP and the ethical justification of applying DXA analysis in these children. Material and Methods. In this monocentric retrospective analysis, data were collected from children and adolescents with CP who were treated for a primary illness for three years. A clinical examination, which included a DXA analysis, recommended by the multidisciplinary team, was performed. After applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, 60 scans remained for statistical analysis. BMD and Z-scores for the lumbar spine (LS), and hip right and left femoral neck (RFN and LFN, respectively), and total hip (TH) were recorded. Results. The average age of children with CP when DXA analysis was first performed was about 7 years. The BMD (mean±SD) at LS (LS-BMD) of all patients was 0.612±0.12, at RFN 0.555±0.11, at LFN 0.572±0.1, and at TH (TH-BMD) 0.581±0.13. The values of the Z-score (mean±SD) at LS of all patients were-2.5±0.22, at RFN-2.2±0.21, at LFN-2.25 (SD=0.2), and at TH-2.3 (SD=0.23). There was no statistical significance between age and gender; however, BMI, walking ability, fracture history, and pattern of CP had a significant impact on BMD and Z-score values of these children. Conclusion. The results of our study clearly indicate that children with CP have a higher risk of low BMD, osteoporosis, and bone fractures, which makes it ethically justifiable to perform the DXA analysis in these children
Optimization of Collateral Value Distribution
Loan Loss Provisioning (LLP) is an amount of reserve that banks "put aside" to cover loss in case that loan goes in default, meaning that clients do not repay it. It is a safety buffer for preserving banks liquidity and capital adequacy. On the other hand, the Loan Loss Provisioning is a cost. In the Profit and Lost statement of banks, LLP decreases profit. It is a good tool/mechanism for risk management, but also expensive one, and that is why it is important for banks to optimize it in every possible way.
The aim of optimization is to distribute collateral value to the connected loans, in a way to minimize amount of LLP. It can be done easily on a one loan level, but creating a universal algorithm that is applicable to all loans and all collaterals on the Bank portfolio level, is the goal to be achieved
Synthesis, characterization and biological study of new dinuclear zinc(ii) and nickel(ii) octaaza macrocyclic complexes
Two new nitrato complexes of zinc and nickel with 1,4,8,11-tetrakis(2-pyridylmethyl)-1,4,8,11-tetraazacyclotetradecane (tpmc), have been synthesized and characterized. The IR spectral peaks showed that the coordinated and ionic nitrate ions are in agreement with the formula proposed by elemental analysis. Conductometric titrations predicted methanol to be a convenient solvent for synthesis and revealed the stoichiometry of the complexes, while molar electrical conductivities indicated a 1 : 3 complex electrolyte type for the zinc complex, and a 1 : 2 complex electrolyte type for the nickel complex. The optimized complex structure was obtained by molecular modeling and density functional theory calculations. The biological activity of the novel complexes was examined by screening eight different bacterial strains and two cancer cell lines. The zinc complex showed better antimicrobial activity against the bacterial strains, while the complexes did not show significance antiproliferative activity toward cancer cells MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231
Carrier drift velocity and edge magnetoplasmons in graphene
We investigate electron dynamics at the graphene edge by studying the
propagation of collective edge magnetoplasmon (EMP) excitations. By timing the
travel of narrow wave-packets on picosecond time scales around exfoliated
samples, we find chiral propagation with low attenuation at a velocity which is
quantized on Hall plateaus. We extract the carrier drift contribution from the
EMP propagation and find it to be slightly less than the Fermi velocity, as
expected for an abrupt edge. We also extract the characteristic length for
Coulomb interaction at the edge and find it to be smaller than for soft,
depletion edge systems.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures of main text and 6 pages, 6 figures of

Efficiency of different methods and forms of microelements application in function of n fertilizer in apple trees
In order to achieve a high yield and quality of apple fruit, more effective ways of fertilization are required in the modern, high density apple orchards. The objective of this research was to determine the efficiency (partial nutrient balance, PNB) of different methods (foliar and fertrigation) and forms (chelates and salts) of microelements application in relation to the levels of N fertilization in apple orchard cultivar (‘Golden Delicious’). The combined effects of these fertilizers on the number of apple fruits per tree and on the yield per tree were also studied. Foliar application of Mn, Zn and Fe had significantly higher partial nutrient balance values compared to the soil application in both years of the experiment. However, most of the PNB values were below 10% indicating relatively low efficiency of the applied fertilizers with microelements
