Erratum to: On the DJL conjecture for order 6

In this note an erratum is provided to the article “On the DJL conjecture for order 6” by Naomi Shaked-Monderer, published in Operators and Matrices 11(1), 2017, 71–88. We will demonstrate and correct two errors in this article. The first error is in the statement of a proposition, which omits a certain category of extreme matrices. The second error is in the proof of a lemma. Fortunately the lemma itself is correct, and in this note we will in fact show that a stronger result holds

Considering copositivity locally

Let $A$ be an element of the copositive cone $coposn$. A zero $vu$ of $A$ is a nonnegative vector whose elements sum up to one and such that $vu^TAvu = 0$. The support of $vu$ is the index set $Suppvu subset 1,dots,n$ corresponding to the nonzero entries of $vu$. A zero $vu$ of $A$ is called minimal if there does not exist another zero $vv$ of $A$ such that its support $Suppvv$ is a strict subset of $Suppvu$. Our main result is a characterization of the cone of feasible directions at $A$, i.e., the convex cone $VarKA$ of real symmetric $n times n$ matrices $B$ such that there exists $delta > 0$ satisfying $A + delta B in coposn$. This cone is described by a set of linear inequalities on the elements of $B$ constructed from the set of zeros of $A$ and their supports. This characterization furnishes descriptions of the minimal face of $A$ in $coposn$, and of the minimal exposed face of $A$ in $coposn$, by sets of linear equalities and inequalities constructed from the set of minimal zeros of $A$ and their supports. In particular, we can check whether $A$ lies on an extreme ray of $coposn$ by examining the solution set of a system of linear equations. In addition, we deduce a simple necessary and sufficient condition on the irreducibility of $A$ with respect to a copositive matrix $C$. Here $A$ is called irreducible with respect to $C$ if for all $delta > 0$ we have $A - delta C notin coposn$

Real Options Models without Single-Investment Threshold Behavior

This paper investigates real options models that violate the assumption of positive persistence of uncertainty. Without this fundamental assumption, existing methodologies are inadequate to address the firm's investment problem. To tackle this issue, we introduce a discrete-time version of a real options model and employ reinforcement learning, specifically Q-learning, to derive the optimal solution. Our findings reveal that in scenarios where the assumption of positive persistence of uncertainty is violated, the firm's investment behavior can exhibit disconnected investment regions

The authors examine the effect of relational constructs (e.g., satisfaction, trust, and affective and calculative commitment) on customer referrals and the number of services purchased, as well as the moderating effect of age of the relationship on these relationships. The research reported, based on data obtained from a large sample of customers of an insurance company, combines archival and survey data. The results provide evidence that supports the moderating effect of relationship age on the relationship between satisfaction, affective and calculative commitment, and the number of services purchased

The Effect of Relational Constructs on Relationship Performance

We examine the effect of relational constructs, such as satisfaction, trust and commitment on relationship performance (that is, positive word-of-mouth communication and the margin provided by each customer) of customers of an insurance company. A central issue concerns the effect of duration on the associations between relational constructs and relationship performance. Our empirical results provide strong evidence of duration dependent effects of satisfaction and trust, but we find only weak evidence of such effects on performance

Functional Properties of Sausage Rolls Made from Cocoyam and Wheat Flour Enriched with Soybean Flour

Functional properties of sausage rolls made from cocoyam and wheat flour enriched with soybean flour was studied. Cocoyam cormels and soybean were processed into flour, which were later used to formulate composite flour blends, with wheat flour in the ratio of: 90:10:0 (control 1), 80:10:10, 70:10:20, 60:10:40, 50:10:30, respectively, while 0:10:90 served as control 2. The result of the functional properties showed variation in behavior. There were no significant difference (p?0.05) in pH, bulk density, swelling index, foam capacity and emulsion capacity of the flour samples while significant difference (p?0.05) existed in water absorption capacity, oil absorption capacity and wettability

On the properties of the transition matrix in bouncing cosmologies

We elaborate further on the evolution properties of cosmological fluctuations through a bounce. We show this evolution to be describable either by ``transmission'' and ``reflection'' coefficients or by an effective unitary S-matrix. We also show that they behave in a time reversal invariant way. Therefore, earlier results are now interpreted in a different perspective and put on a firmer basis.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figure, to appear in PR
