Sociología del campo filosófico español entre el Franquismo y la Transición democrática: una validación cuantitativa

La más reciente investigación dedicada al análisis del campo filosófico español entre el tardofranquismo y la Transición, señaló la existencia de dos redes intelectuales: una, denominada «oficial», que aglutinaba a los filósofos de perfil más estrictamente académico (v. g. Sergio Rábade), y otra, designada como «alternativa», que integraba a los pensadores más vanguardistas (v. g. López Aranguren). Los materiales utilizados en La filosofía española. Herederos y pretendientes. Una lectura sociológica (1963-1990) (Vázquez García 2009), fueron objeto en esta obra de una aproximación cualitativa. Nuestro objetivo en este artículo, privilegiando la fiabilidad sobre la validez, es la realización de un análisis de correspondencias múltiples, en el que se han cuantificado más de 15 variables sobre cincuenta filósofos españoles. Big Data And The Well-Being Nexus: Tracking Google Search Activity By State IQ

In the era of “big data,” internet search activity can provide interesting insight into human behavior. Here we used the Google Correlate algorithm (a database tracking billions of user searches) to identify search terms that co-varied most strongly with U.S. state-level IQ and wellbeing (see Pesta, McDaniel, & Bertsch, 2010). First, we identified the 100 strongest positive (e.g., crock pot applesauce, custom woodworking) and negative (e.g., ASVAB for Dummies, Hello Kitty) search term covariates for state IQ. We then rationally clustered search terms into composites (e.g., “food,” “job seeking activity”) based on similarity of concept. Thereafter, we correlated the composite scores with other well-being variables (e.g., crime, health). Search-term composite scores correlated stronglywith allwell-being variables.We offer post-hoc explanations for the various composite-score correlations, showing how state differences in internet search activity fit within the “well-being nexus” for the U.S.Moreover, we explore how the use of Google Correlate can inform additional research inquires in this domain

Analysis of Lead, Copper and Zinc Concentrations in Flesh and Shell of Snail Litoraria Melanostoma in the West Coast of Karimun Besar Island of Riau Islands

The research was conducted in February 2015 to determine the concentration of heavy metals (Pb, Cu and Zn) in the flesh and shell of snail L. melanostoma collected from the west coast of Karimun Besar Island of Riau Islands Province. The differences in metal concentrations between shell and flesh as well as between stations were discussed. Higher concentrations of Pb and Cu were found in the flesh, whilst zinc concentration was found to be higher in the shell of the snail. The highest Pb concentration was found in Station I (8.105 μg/g) and the lowest was in Station III (6.476 μg/g). The highest Cu concentration was found in Station II (5.193 μg/g) and the lowest was in Station III (4.333 μg/g). Meanwhile the highest Zn concentration was found in Station III (7.675 μg/g) and the lowest was in Station II (7.408 μg/g). The MPI value of the metals in the west coast of Karimun Besar Island still quite low when compared with other reported regional studies

Differential Epidemiology: IQ, Neuroticism, And Chronic Disease By The 50 U.S. States

Current research shows that geo-political units (e.g., the 50 U.S. states) vary meaningfully on psychological dimensions like intelligence (IQ) and neuroticism (N). A new scientific discipline has also emerged, differential epidemiology, focused on how psychological variables affect health. We integrate these areas by reporting large correlations between aggregate-level IQ and N (measured for the 50 U.S. states) and state differences in rates of chronic disease (e.g., stroke, heart disease). Controlling for health-related behaviors (e.g., smoking, exercise) reduced but did not eliminate these effects. Strong relationships also existed between IQ, N, disease, and a host of other state-level variables (e.g., income, crime, education). The nexus of inter-correlated state variables could reflect a general fitness factor hypothesized by cognitive epidemiologists, although valid inferences about causality will require more research.

Penanganan Anestesi pada Pasien Pediatri dengan Cedera Otak Traumatik Sedang, Fraktur Impresi dan Edem Serebri

Cedera otak traumatik merupakan penyebab terbanyak kecacatan dan kematian pada anak dan orang dewasa. Di Amerika Serikat, terjadi lebih dari 510.000 kasus cedera otak traumatik per tahun pada anak-anak usia 0-14 tahun;1 dengan 2.000–3.000 di antaranya meninggal setiap tahunnya. Tujuan dari penanganan cedera otak traumatik selain menangani cedera primernya, juga untuk mencegah terjadinya cedera sekunder. Seorang anak laki-laki usia 12 tahun mengalami kecelakaan lalu lintas dan didiagnosis dengan cedera otak traumatik sedang, fraktur impresi regio temporo parietal kanan dan edema serebri dengan komorbiditas anemia, rencana akan dilakukan pembedahan darurat untuk debridement, eksplorasi duramater dan rekonstruksi tulang. Pembedahan dilakukan dengan anestesi umum intubasi endotrakeal dan berjalan selama tujuh jam. Kondisi pasien selama pembedahan relatif stabil dan setelahnya dirawat di Ruang Observasi Intensif dengan bantuan ventilator. Setelah memastikan kondisi ekstrakranial normal, pasien kemudian disapih dari ventilator dan diekstubasi keesokan harinya. Pasien dipulangkan pada hari kedelapan setelah kejadian
