The use of the APCM-2 protocol for a preventive assessment of the motor coordination disorder
The development of motor skills that occurs gradually in a child's body and culminates around 8-9 years, if it occurs correctly, is the element that allows him to explore and take measures to interact with the surrounding reality. (Le Boulche, 1988) Only at this age we can speak of the "ability of space-time coordination", which takes shape and materializes only through the experience of consecutive motor acts with which they represent themselves, programmed in a time scan. (Piaget, 1976) These motor experiences are fundamental, because if the child has difficulty to complete the temporal scan, it would mean that he is the bearer of a movement disorder, albeit minor, called dyspraxia which without the appropriate tools, allowed by the following test could not be diagnosed. (Gargano, 2013) It was conducted A field research through the APCM-2 protocol (Sabbadini, 2018) on a sample of 281 children. Through it, we isolated 34 subjects with specific areas that were found to be deficient, therefore more compromised by suspected dyspraxia. The most important data that emerged was that the dyspractic disorder can be overcome only if identified with a timely evaluation that allows a rehabilitation program applied as quickly as possible. (Risoli, 2016) This is important because this disorder, even if defined as "minor", in the most severe cases is influential on school performance and can sometimes lead to the boy who is affected some difficulties in simple daily motor actions
Partial Evaluations and the Compositional Structure of the Bar Construction
An algebraic expression like can be evaluated to , but it can
also be \emph{partially evaluated} to . In categorical algebra, such
partial evaluations can be defined in terms of the -skeleton of the bar
construction for algebras of a monad. We show that this partial evaluation
relation can be seen as the relation internal to the category of algebras
generated by relating a formal expression to its result. The relation is
transitive for many monads which describe commonly encountered algebraic
structures, and more generally for BC monads on \Set, defined by the
underlying functor and multiplication being weakly cartesian. We find that this
is not true for all monads: we describe a finitary monad on \Set for which
the partial evaluation relation on the terminal algebra is not transitive.
With the perspective of higher algebraic rewriting in mind, we then
investigate the compositional structure of the bar construction in all
dimensions. We show that for algebras of BC monads, the bar construction has
fillers for all \emph{directed acyclic configurations} in , but
generally not all inner horns. We introduce several additional
\emph{completeness} and \emph{exactness} conditions on simplicial sets which
correspond via the bar construction to composition and invertibility properties
of partial evaluations, including those arising from \emph{weakly cartesian}
monads. We characterize and produce factorizations of pushouts and certain
commutative squares in the simplex category in order to provide simplified
presentations of these conditions and relate them to more familiar properties
of simplicial sets.Comment: 90 Pages. This work arose out of the 2019 Applied Category Theory

Weak cartesian properties of simplicial sets
Many special classes of simplicial sets, such as the nerves of categories or
groupoids, the 2-Segal sets of Dyckerhoff and Kapranov, and the (discrete)
decomposition spaces of G\'{a}lvez, Kock, and Tonks, are characterized by the
property of sending certain commuting squares in the simplex category
to pullback squares of sets. We introduce weaker analogues of these properties
called completeness conditions, which require squares in to be sent to
weak pullbacks of sets, defined similarly to pullback squares but without the
uniqueness property of induced maps. We show that some of these completeness
conditions provide a simplicial set with lifts against certain subsets of
simplices first introduced in the theory of database design. We also provide
reduced criteria for checking these properties using factorization results for
pushouts squares in , which we characterize completely, along with
several other classes of squares in . Examples of simplicial sets with
completeness conditions include quasicategories, many of the compositories and
gleaves of Flori and Fritz, and bar constructions for algebras of certain
classes of monads. The latter is our motivating example.Comment: 48 pages. This work arose out of the 2019 Applied Category Theory

Collagen and Stretch Modulate Autocrine Secretion of Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 and Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Proteins from Differentiated Skeletal Muscle Cells
Stretch-induced skeletal muscle growth may involve increased autocrine secretion of insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) since IGF-1 is a potent growth factor for skeletal muscle hypertrophy, and stretch elevates IGF-1 mRNA levels in vivo. In tissue cultures of differentiated avian pectoralis skeletal muscle cells, nanomolar concentrations of exogenous IGF-1 stimulated growth in mechanically stretched but not static cultures. These cultures released up to 100 pg of endogenously produced IGF-1/micro-g of protein/day, as well as three major IGF binding proteins of 31, 36, and 43 kilodaltons (kDa). IGF-1 was secreted from both myofibers and fibroblasts coexisting in the muscle cultures. Repetitive stretch/relaxation of the differentiated skeletal muscle cells stimulated the acute release of IGF-1 during the first 4 h after initiating mechanical activity, but caused no increase in the long-term secretion over 24-72 h of IGF-1, or its binding proteins. Varying the intensity and frequency of stretch had no effect on the long-term efflux of IGF-1. In contrast to stretch, embedding the differentiated muscle cells in a three-dimensional collagen (Type I) matrix resulted in a 2-5-fold increase in long-term IGF-1 efflux over 24-72 h. Collagen also caused a 2-5-fold increase in the release of the IGF binding proteins. Thus, both the extracellular matrix protein type I collagen and stretch stimulate the autocrine secretion of IGF-1, but with different time kinetics. This endogenously produced growth factor may be important for the growth response of skeletal myofibers to both types of external stimuli
