Curvularia spot, caused by the fungus Curvularia spp. have emerged as a major disease in maize. The objective of this work was to evaluate the fungitoxic action of the extract of lobeira leaves (Solanum lycocarpum A. St.-Hil), in the control of the fungus Curvularia spp, the causal agent of Curvularia stain in corn. The efficiency in inhibiting mycelial growth was tested in culture medium with diluted and diffused extracts, in two concentrations (pure and diluted extract) in five doses (0, 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 µL) in a 2 x factorial scheme 5 x 2. The potential of controlling the disease severity in maize plants was also evaluated in a 2 x 5 factorial scheme, two concentrations (neat and diluted) and five doses. Both experiments were installed in a completely randomized design with three replications. The lobeira leaf extract is efficient in mycelial control and in the severity of the disease caused by the fungus Curvularia spp. in corn. In an in vitro test, the extract promoted a decrease in mycelial growth both when it was used diluted in the medium and when it was used diffusely. For the in vivo test, the extract at doses of 20 µL decreases the percentage of disease severity in corn leaves and does not cause significant mortality in corn plants.

Organic food is understood as the entire universe of production, commercialization and consumption of products free from pesticides synthetic chemical fertilizers and transgenics, and which, within the scope of their practices and meanings, aim to respect the environment and maintain the quality of the food. Although these foods are in accordance with a sustainable production system added to the agroecological perspective, the impact of both opportunities and challenges, this type of production echoes in the most different cultural, economic and technological levels of society, involving a series of factors that must be taken into account. Through a documentary analysis through articles, interviews, journalistic articles and other types of information, we list the main challenges and opportunities for vegetable producers in the state of  the Tocantins. As timely results, market retraction was glimpsed due to the low supply of these products and the need for environmental awareness linked to the search for a healthier lifestyle. In terms of challenges, the complex market scenario and the need to disseminate production techniques accompanied by specialized technical assistance stand out in particular. Finally, it is observed that in the state of Tocantins the relative production of organic products is still very small, but in the process of expansion. In the case of vegetable production, vegetable growers have a long path of opportunities and challenges to go through, for this it is necessary to support, encourage and integrate different spheres of society with governmental incentives, the performance of educational institutions and extension, commercial conjecture and change of society's attitude towards the preference for healthier products.

Myelolipomas are benign neoplasms of adipose cells that contain hematopoietic elements, considered infrequent and difficult to diagnose. The following paper reports a case of splenic myelolipoma diagnosed in a feline in the southern region of Rio Grande do Sul. The patient was referred for care at a veterinary clinic but died. Macroscopically, a nodule measuring 2.0 cm in diameter was observed in the spleen, with a cut surface that was lighter in color than the organ and soft in consistency. Histologically, there was proliferation of mature and well-differentiated adipose tissue, with cells of round to oval shapes, with small and peripheral nuclei, together with a large number of hematopoietic cells consisting of megakaryocytes, mature erythrocytes, in addition to macrophages, lymphocytes and plasma cells. These cellular components were also visualized in other organs, namely the pancreas, kidneys, liver and heart, characterizing the neoplasm. There are few descriptions of splenic myelolipoma in felines in the literature. In Brazil there is a description of this neoplasm in the spleen only in canines. Despite being a benign neoplasm, it should be considered in the differential diagnosis of pathologies that affect the lymphoid system.

Results: 83.1% of patients came from the public health system (SUS), 9.6% from the supplemental (private insurance) healthcare systemsand 7.3% from private (out-of-pocket) clinic. Male patients comprised 66%, 30% were diabetics, 46% had dyslipidemia, 28% previously sustained a myocardial infarction, and 9.4% underwent prior cardiovascular surgery. Patients underwent coronary artery bypass surgery were 54.1% and 31.5% to valve surgery, either isolated or combined. The overall postoperative mortality up to the 7th postoperative day was 4%for CABG was 2.6%, and for valve operations, 4.4%. Conclusion: This first report outlines the consecution of the Brazilian surgical cardiac database, intended to serve primarily as a tool for providing information for clinical improvement and patient safety and constitute a basis for production of research protocols.Univ Fed Sao Paulo UNIFESP EPM, Hosp Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilHosp Caridade Sao Vicente Paulo, Jundiai, SP, BrazilInst Med Integral Prof Fernando Figueira IMIP, Recife, PE, BrazilHosp Base FUNFARME & FAMERP, Sao Jose Do Rio Preto, SP, BrazilIMC, Sao Jose Do Rio Preto, SP, BrazilIrmandade Santa Casa Sao Paulo INCT HPV, Fac Ciencias Med Santa Casa Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilFundacao Univ Cardiol, Inst Cardiol Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre, RS, BrazilInst Coracao Natal, Natal, RN, BrazilInst Cardiol Dist Fed, Brasilia, DF, BrazilUniv Fed Maranhao HU UFMA, Univ Hosp, Sao Luis, MA, BrazilHosp Evangelico, Cachoeiro De Itapemirim, ES, BrazilHosp Coracao Sergipe, Aracaju, SE, BrazilHosp Nossa Senhora Salete, Inst Cirurgia Cardiovasc ICCV, Cascavel, PR, BrazilHosp Wilson Rosado, Mossoro, RN, BrazilHosp Bosque Saude, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilHosp Univ Santa Maria, Santa Maria, RS, BrazilHosp Coracao HCor, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilHosp Coracao IP HCor, Ins Pesquisa, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilInst Coracao InCor, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilUniv Fed Sao Paulo UNIFESP EPM, Hosp Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, SP, BrazilWeb of Scienc

Constraints on the χ_(c1) versus χ_(c2) polarizations in proton-proton collisions at √s = 8 TeV

The polarizations of promptly produced χ_(c1) and χ_(c2) mesons are studied using data collected by the CMS experiment at the LHC, in proton-proton collisions at √s=8  TeV. The χ_c states are reconstructed via their radiative decays χ_c → J/ψγ, with the photons being measured through conversions to e⁺e⁻, which allows the two states to be well resolved. The polarizations are measured in the helicity frame, through the analysis of the χ_(c2) to χ_(c1) yield ratio as a function of the polar or azimuthal angle of the positive muon emitted in the J/ψ → μ⁺μ⁻ decay, in three bins of J/ψ transverse momentum. While no differences are seen between the two states in terms of azimuthal decay angle distributions, they are observed to have significantly different polar anisotropies. The measurement favors a scenario where at least one of the two states is strongly polarized along the helicity quantization axis, in agreement with nonrelativistic quantum chromodynamics predictions. This is the first measurement of significantly polarized quarkonia produced at high transverse momentum
