    Get PDF
In recent years learning in the area of mathematics is based on the development of different knowledge without seeking the development of competence in problem solving, at school students need an environment where they formulate and validate conjectures, ask questions , use their own procedures, manipulating concrete objects and acquire the necessary tools. For this reason, the objective was to apply the "LUDIPROBLEMS" Strategy to raise the competence of solving mathematical problems in students, thus training people capable of solving problems in daily life. The type of research is applied, which aims to obtain knowledge and solve problems that are developed through a process. With a quantitative approach. A population sample of 24 students was handled. The result of the research indicates that 67% of the students in the application group are at the expected level of achievement, thus achieving raising the problem-solving competence with the application of the activities of the LUDIPROBLEMS strategy. Objetive. Hospital resources are insufficient given the demand for seriously ill patients with COVID-19. Proper resource management is essential to provide the best possible care. Criteria to help make appropriate and timely decisions were reviewed, following ethical principles. The prioritization of invasive ventilatory support must be done in a transparent and objective manner, comprehensively evaluating the patient and based on objective criteria such as prognostic scales, life cycle or clinical commitment. Symptomatic treatment (including palliative care) is essential in this pandemic and communication with the patient or family makes it possible to humanize the care of health personnel.

HB 804 - Virginia Residential Landlord Tenant Act, Nonrefundable Application Fee

    Get PDF
House Bill 804 limits when a landlord may charge a nonrefundable application fee in addition to a refundable application deposit. The bill prohibits a landlord with more than four rental dwelling units or more than a 10 percent interest in more than four rental dwelling units from charging prospective tenants any nonrefundable application fee above the amount necessary to reimburse the landlord for any actual out-of-pocket expenses paid by the landlord to a third party performing a number of pre-occupancies checks on the applicant. The originally proposed bill would have allowed an applicant to choose to provide relevant personal information to the landlord in the form of a portable tenant screening report in lieu of paying an application fee. When an applicant chooses not to provide such report, a landlord that owns four or fewer rental dwelling units may charge such applicant actual out-of-pocket expenses paid by the landlord to a third party performing certain pre-occupancy checks on the applicant or, in the case of an application for a public housing unit, an application fee of no more than $32, including any actual out-of-pocket expenses paid to a third party by the landlord performing background, credit, or other pre-occupancy checks on the applicant

AI is a viable alternative to high throughput screening: a 318-target study

: High throughput screening (HTS) is routinely used to identify bioactive small molecules. This requires physical compounds, which limits coverage of accessible chemical space. Computational approaches combined with vast on-demand chemical libraries can access far greater chemical space, provided that the predictive accuracy is sufficient to identify useful molecules. Through the largest and most diverse virtual HTS campaign reported to date, comprising 318 individual projects, we demonstrate that our AtomNet® convolutional neural network successfully finds novel hits across every major therapeutic area and protein class. We address historical limitations of computational screening by demonstrating success for target proteins without known binders, high-quality X-ray crystal structures, or manual cherry-picking of compounds. We show that the molecules selected by the AtomNet® model are novel drug-like scaffolds rather than minor modifications to known bioactive compounds. Our empirical results suggest that computational methods can substantially replace HTS as the first step of small-molecule drug discovery

Finishing the euchromatic sequence of the human genome

    Get PDF
The sequence of the human genome encodes the genetic instructions for human physiology, as well as rich information about human evolution. In 2001, the International Human Genome Sequencing Consortium reported a draft sequence of the euchromatic portion of the human genome. Since then, the international collaboration has worked to convert this draft into a genome sequence with high accuracy and nearly complete coverage. Here, we report the result of this finishing process. The current genome sequence (Build 35) contains 2.85 billion nucleotides interrupted by only 341 gaps. It covers ∼99% of the euchromatic genome and is accurate to an error rate of ∼1 event per 100,000 bases. Many of the remaining euchromatic gaps are associated with segmental duplications and will require focused work with new methods. The near-complete sequence, the first for a vertebrate, greatly improves the precision of biological analyses of the human genome including studies of gene number, birth and death. Notably, the human enome seems to encode only 20,000-25,000 protein-coding genes. The genome sequence reported here should serve as a firm foundation for biomedical research in the decades ahead
