    Parthenon faсade fea simulation as system of freely piled solids joined by gravity and friction

    Paper concerns to contact task simulation by FEA for “freely piled solids” systems. It may be different dry masonries. The antique façade of the Parthenon temple is taken for simulation as an example. Marble drums and blocks are held together only by friction and gravity. Multiplicity and variability of contact pressure patterns inside columns are disclosed. Surface compression concentrators (SCC) between echinus and top drums are revealed. Such concentrators are proved to be safe for antique marble load-bearing structures. Contact sliding in the column joints is investigated. Slipping localization on the top and bottom of columns is pointed out as a predictor of the uncontrolled movement and falling in the case of the façade inclination. The usefulness of „piled solids” contact tasks for FEA-training of students is stated

    K. V. Petrides and A. Furnham’s TEIQue-ASF Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire for Teenagers: A Psychometric Analysis

    K. V. Petrides and A. Furnham’s emotional intelligence model is extremely popular nowadays. Foreign specialists often use this diagnostic method to measure emotional intelligence. Standardization of diagnostic methods for the Russian-speaking teenagers could expand the capabilities of teen psychology and help specialists who work with adolescents. The article presents a psychometric analysis of the Russian-language version of the short emotional intelligence questionnaire TEIQue-ASF for teenagers developed by K. V. Petrides and A. Furnham. The questionnaire measures emotional intelligence in adolescents in the context of a model of personality traits. The research involved teenagers aged 13–17 from Novosibirsk (N = 347): 199 boys (57.3%) and 148 girls (42.7%). Later, 171 of them were re-examined to study the retest reliability. The validation procedure involved the following questionnaires: D. V. Lyusin’s EmIn Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire; The BFI-5 Questionnaire adapted by S. A. Shchebetenko; The SWLS Life Satisfaction Scale Questionnaire by E. Diner adapted by E. N. Osin and D. A. Leontiev; An analogue of The PANAS – SHPANA Scale of Positive and Negative Affect in E. N. Osin’s development; The STAI Questionnaire of Personal and Situational Anxiety by Ch. Spielberg in Y. L. Khanin’s adaptation. The obtained data made it possible to standardize the Russian-language version of the TEIQue-ASF questionnaire. The test showed a high internal consistency (Cronbach's mark = 0.901) and a convergent validity that corresponded to the original, as well as a good predictability of indicators of subjective well-being. The TEIQue-ASF test correlated with its adult version in A. A. Pankratova’s adaptation. The assessment revealed no statistically significant features in relation to the gender and age. The TEIQue-ASF test proved suitable for measuring emotional intelligence in Russian-speaking adolescents aged 13–17

    Диагностическая ценность метода ИФА при коклюше у детей

    Because of low effectiveness of laboratory methods for diagnosing pertussis it is important to look for new ways of verification of this infection. The article presents the analysis of the diagnostic value of ELISA method, which involves the identification of antibodies of different isotypes (IgM, IgG, IgA) to pertussis toxoid (PT) and filamentous haemagglutinin (FHA). The study included 279 children: 114 were under 1 year of age, 165 — older than 1 year. The pertussis was confirmed in 74.3 ± 2.6% of patients by using ELISA method. A significant proportion of seronegative patients (46.1 ± 6.2 per cent) was revealed in the group of patients under 1 year. The pattern of production of antibodies in unvaccinated children was different. It depended on the age of the children and timing of illness. A low proportion of diagnostically significant indicators of IgM-antibodies at 2—3 weeks of illness was typical for patients under 1 year of age (e.g. 6.7 ± 6.5% as compared to 20.0 ± 7.9% and 50.0 ± 15.3 — 1—3 and 4—6 years of age). The diagnosis of pertussis in children under 1 year of age was confirmed mainly by the detection of IgG, starting from the 4th week of the disease. In the examination of vaccinated children diagnostically significant levels of IgA and IgG were identified (even in the late stages of the disease). Thus, the results of the analysis show special significance of using ELISA method for the diagnosis of pertussis in vaccinated children.Недостаточная эффективность используемых методов лабораторной диагностики коклюша в практическом здравоохранении диктует необходимость расширения спектра средств верификации этой инфекции. В статье представлен анализ диагностической ценности метода ИФА, который предусматривает выявление антител различных изотипов (IgM, IgG, IgA) к коклюшному токсину и филаментозному гемагглютинину. Всего обследовано 279 детей, среди которых 114 были в возрасте до 1 года, 165 — старше 1 года. Использование метода ИФА в целом позволило подтвердить диагноз коклюша у 74,3 ± 2,6% больных. При проведении сравнительного анализа его эффективности у детей различного возраста установлено, что в группе больных в возрасте до 1 года выявлен значительный удельный вес серонегативных пациентов, составивших 46,1 ± 6,2%. Анализ частоты выявления антител различных классов у непривитых детей разного возраста выявил отличия в характере динамики продукции антител, превышающих пороговый уровень, в зависимости от сроков болезни и возрастных групп. Для пациентов раннего возраста был характерен низкий удельный вес больных с диагностически значимыми показателями IgM-антител на 2—3-й неделях болезни (например, на 2-й неделе у 6,7 ± 6,5% против 20,0 ± 7,9% и 50,0 ± 15,3 — 1—3 и 4—6 лет соответственно). Диагноз коклюша у детей до 1 года был подтвержден преимущественно выявлением антител IgG класса, начиная с 4 недели болезни. Сравнительный анализ частоты обнаружения антител различных классов у привитых детей показал значительный удельный вес больных с диагностически значимыми уровнями IgA наряду с высоким уровнем продукции IgG, причем и на поздних сроках болезни, что позволяет принимать это во внимание как важный серологический критерий диагностики коклюша у привитых детей

    A comparative analysis of clinical, functional and morphological results of femtosecond, trans-epithelial and standard corneal collagen cross-linking

    Purpose: to compare clinical, functional and morphological results of treatment of progressing keratoconus by femtosecond, trans-epithelial and standard corneal collagen crosslinking. Material and methods. 114 patients aged 18-35 (148 eyes) with progressing keratoconus of stages I-III and iatrogenic keratectasia were divided into three groups. Group 1 (39 patients, 47 eyes) received femtosecond corneal collagen crosslinking; group 2 (33 patients, 45 eyes) underwent transepithelial crosslinking and group3 underwent crosslinking performed with standard technique. Results. The analysis of data of confocal microscopy performed 1 year after femtosecond and standard corneal collagen crosslinking revealed the effect of cross linkage in the anterior and middle corneal stroma, an increased density of the extracellular matrix, regeneration of subepithelial and stromal nervous fibers, and keratocyte repopulation. 1 year after trans epithelial crosslinking, keratocyte population was restored. Slight folding in the anterior stroma was observed due to the cross linkage effect. Conclusion. The preserved epithelial layer of the cornea reduces the risk of infectious complications on the eroded surface of the cornea, diminishes visual discomfort and sensation of pain in patients in the early postoperative period, and shortens the rehabilitation period. After trans-epithelial corneal collagen crosslinking, no pronounced effect of cross linkage in the stroma was observed. The available weak positive result justifies the recommendation to use this technique in children, patients with thin cornea, those likely to develop complications during reepithelization, and as a preventive measure in cases of slow progression rate // Russian ophthalmological journal. 2017; 10 (2): 47-53.     Toric intraocular correction following cataract extraction in a patient with keratoconus after implantation of intrastromal corneal ring segments: a clinical case

    Purpose: to study the results of toric intraocular correction following a surgical treatment of cataract in a 69-year-old patient with the 2nd stage of keratoconus by Amsler-Krumeich classification with intrastromal corneal segments implanted. Methods. During the first visit, the patient had 0.1 best corrected visual acuity (BCVA). The choice of an intraocular lens Tecnis Toric IOL (Abbott, USA) and the optimization of the planned operation was performed on the website of the IOL manufacturer according to the data obtained by partial coherence optical biometry IOL-Master (Carl Zeiss, Germany), dual Scheimpflug Placido keratotopography on the Analyzer of anterior eye segment Galilei G6 (Ziemer, Switzerland), and keratotopography on Magellan Mapper (Nidek, Japan).Results. 6 months after the implantation of intrastromal corneal ring segments, BCVA was 0.2. On the next day after cataract phacoemulsification with implantation of a toric IOL, BCVA was 0.4. 2 years after the implantation of intrastromal corneal segments and phacoemulsification with implantation of a toric IOL, the patient's BCVA was 0.7. Conclusions. We obtained high refractive outcome of a combined staged use of intrastromal corneal segments and correction of aphakiaby a toric IOL in a patient with stable stage 2 keratoconus.     The study of powdered extracts from grain raw materials by using the X-ray crystallography

    Currently, there is another stage for increased interest in improving the quality and expanding the range of soft drinks and beer with the release of new titles due to the attraction of alternative types of plant materials, including technology-based ingredients and formulations – powdered malt extracts of various cereal crops – barley, buckwheat, peas, corn. X-ray diffraction experiment is one of the most accurate methods for studying the structure of matter at the atomic and molecular levels. X-ray diffractometry allows, the first, to determine the characteristic interatomic distances in matter from the position of the peaks in the diffractogram and to identify them-to estimate the given distance between atoms of different elements. Secondly, the width of the diffraction peaks can be used to estimate the degree of ordering of the structure and determine the characteristic dimensions of polymer formations. Thirdly, X-ray diffractometry makes it possible to evaluate the composition of a mixture of substances based on the comparison of diffractograms from the substances to be mixed. For the first time the comparative investigation of structural mechanical properties of powdered malt extracts with the assessment of solubility by X-ray diffraction analysis is studied. The main interatomic distances in the extracts are identified; the comparative X-ray diffraction study of the extract from peas, barley, buckwheat malt, prepared without introduction of molasses during drying were carried out. Calculation gives the following sizes of areas of coherent scattering for the extract L = 56.07?10-10 m; for the extract with molasses L = 7.470?10-10 m, in consideration with the calculated indicator of substance solubility with a characteristic size of the particles. It was found that the addition of molasses during drying allows to increase the solubility in 1.7 times. This statement is based on the comparison of the X-ray diffraction peaks of patterns and accounting of the size effect of solubility, and it was corresponded with the data on the solubility obtained by the standard method
