Programa de P?s-gradua??o em Ci?ncias da Nutri??o, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2021.Brazil occupies 5th place with the highest prevalence of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM2) in adults globally. It is a multifactorial disease that involves, among other variables, an unhealthy lifestyle as one of the determinants for its emergence. Within this context, this dissertation has three objectives, namely: to carry out a systematic review to verify what recent publications have identified about the relationship between food consumption and DM2 risk, to evaluate the effect of sugary beverage (BA) consumption on the incidence of DM2 in participants of a cohort of adults from Minas Gerais (CUME), and to verify whether selenium consumption is related to the prevalence of DM2 among CUME participants. Thus, this dissertation was organized into three articles, and each one of them responds, respectively, to these objectives. The first identified that high consumption of foods such as red meat, sugary drinks, and ultra-processed foods are associated with an increased risk of DM2. In contrast, a diet rich in wholegrain, organic foods, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and teas is associated with a reduction in this risk. The second identified that BA consumption was associated with an increased incidence of DM2 (RR= 1.73; p-value=0.03). BA consumers had more than a 70% chance of acquiring DM2 over the follow-up period of the cohort. About 9.0% of the effect of BA on T2DM index is mediated by excess weight (p-value=0.041). About 45% of the effect of BA on the incidence of T2DM is mediated by the interaction between overweight and BA consumption (p-value=<0.001). In relation to selenium consumption and DM2 prevalence, it was identified that dietary Se intake was not associated with DM2 prevalence, despite the high intake of this micronutrient by CUME participants. These findings indicate the need for more research to confirm the relationship between DM2 and extreme selenium intake and confirm the importance of healthy eating for the prevention of DM2.Brasil ocupa el quinto lugar con mayor prevalencia de Diabetes Mellitus tipo 2 (DM2) en adultos en el mundo.

Disserta??o (Mestrado) ? Programa de P?s-gradua??o em Ensino em Sa?de, Universidade Federal dos Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri, 2022.This study is part of the Teaching, Health and Culture research line of the Graduate Program in Health Education at the Federal University of Vales do Jequitinhonha e Mucuri. Its main objective is to characterize the main factors that influence the choice of professional path to be followed by medical students after graduation. In view of this scenario, the secondary objectives are to understand the relationship between sociodemographic factors and choices, to identify which moment of graduation the academic defines this trajectory and the main opportunities offered by the labor market in the region where the study was carried out. This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, exploratory study with a qualitative approach. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with academics from the 9th to the 11th period of the higher education institution UNIFIPMoc who are interning at the Hospital Santa Casa de Montes Claros, addressing the entire process involved in choosing their professional paths. These approaches favored a broader understanding of intrinsic and extrinsic influencing factors that were organized in the field of professional practice, in the field of training, in the field of interpersonal relationships and in the social field, based on knowledge of the entire structural process of medical training and the context regional sociocultural. It is concluded that there are several internal and external aspects that are updated as processes perceived in the choice of trajectories that, analytically, were worked as categories. These categories always operate in an associated manner and were organized into fields for better analysis. Although in the context of the study the social field gained greater prominence, in each concrete context these processes will gain specific characteristics. Thus, if the same study is carried out with other students, differences will be found

Football (soccer) is a high-intensity intermittent sport with large energy demands. In a repeated-measures design, we analysed the nutritional intake and training load of fourteen female football players (22.50 ? 4.38 y; 57.23 ? 8.61 kg; 164 ? 6.00 cm; 18.33 ? 2.48% of fat mass and 23.71 ? 2.51 kg of muscle mass) competing in the highest female Football Portuguese League across a typical mid-season microcycle. The microcycle had one match day (MD), one recovery session (two days after the MD, MD+2), three training sessions (MD-3, MD-2, MD-1) and two rest days (MD+1). Energy intake and CHO (g.kg.BW?1) intake were lower on the days before the competition (MD+2, MD-3, MD-2 and MD-1 vs. MD; p < 0.05; ES: 0.60?1.30). Total distance, distance covered at high-speed running (HSRD) and the high metabolic distance load (HMLD) were lower on MD+2, MD-3 and MD-1 compared with MD (p < 0.05; ES: <0.2?5.70). The internal training load was lower in all training sessions before the competition (MD+2, MD-3, MD-2 and MD-1 vs. MD; p ? 0.01; ES: 1.28?5.47). Despite the small sample size and a single assessment in time, the results suggest that caloric and CHO intake were below the recommendations and were not structured based on the physical requirements for training sessions or match days.D915-7373-ED16 | Cesar LeaoN/

Wearables and Internet of Things (IoT) Technologies for Fitness Assessment: A Systematic Review

    Get PDF
Wearable and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies in sports open a new era in athlete?s training, not only for performance monitoring and evaluation but also for fitness assessment. These technologies rely on sensor systems that collect, process and transmit relevant data, such as biomark ers and/or other performance indicators that are crucial to evaluate the evolution of the athlete?s condition, and therefore potentiate their performance. This work aims to identify and summarize recent studies that have used wearables and IoT technologies and discuss its applicability for fitness assessment. A systematic review of electronic databases (WOS, CCC, DIIDW, KJD, MEDLINE, RSCI, SCIELO, IEEEXplore, PubMed, SPORTDiscus, Cochrane and Web of Science) was undertaken according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. From the 280 studies initially identified, 20 were fully examined in terms of hardware and software and their applicability for fitness assessment. Results have shown that wearable and IoT technologies have been used in sports not only for fitness assessment but also for monitoring the athlete?s internal and external workloads, employing physiological status monitoring and activity recognition and tracking techniques. However, the maturity level of such technologies is still low, particularly with the need for the acquisition of more?and more effective?biomarkers regarding the athlete?s internal workload, which limits its wider adoption by the sports community.4811-99FE-2ECD | Luis Paulo RodriguesN/

Using AR interfaces to support industrial maintenance procedures

    Get PDF
Industries are becoming more and more digitized to better implement intelligent and predictive maintenance support systems, aligned with Industry 4.0, which requires the progressive digitization of data collection and processes. Maintenance interventions, in an evolving technological context, are increasingly more complex and difficult for technicians to perform. In these environments, the use of Augmented Reality (AR) to help assist and guide in the maintenance operations, can accomplish a considerable gain in productivity. AR allows to superimpose information objects in real scenes, such as text, images, audiovisuals, and 2D/3D model animations, making available contextual information about the process, based on location and perspective. This paper describes the design and implementation of a prototype augmented reality application to support maintenance tasks inside a metal stamping production unit, that produces components for the automotive sector. It aims to train and guide personnel during the maintenance operations, and offering an extra channel to reach expert help.2411-78B2-7CDB | Pedro Miguel MoreiraN/
