Using an ensemble of features for personalized recommendations of scientific publications
Maintaining reviews of scientific publications as soon as new relevant publications are available is a typical challenge to many research communities. We address this challenge as a content-based recommendation problem, where the publications already selected for a review drive the recommendation of the new publications. In addition, resources such as domain databases, ontologies and academic graphs provide structured information about publications (e.g., authors, journals, conferences). Our experiments show that a simple model based on that structured information to represent publications achieve high precision and recall, and outperform models that use more sophisticated representations based on embeddings
Fluorescence probes for prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells using Re(CO) 3 + complexes with an electron withdrawing ancillary ligand
Re(CO) 3+ complexes with an ancillary ligand present an electron withdrawing effect suitable for cell imaging.
Research in fluorescence microscopy presents new challenges, especially with respect to the development of new metal-based fluorophores. In this work, new fac -[Re(CO) 3 (bpy)L]PF 6 ( C3 ) and fac -[Re(CO) 3 (dmb)L]PF 6 ( C4 ) complexes, where L is an ancillary ligand, E -2-((3-amino-pyridin-4-ylimino)-methyl)-4,6-di- tert -butylphenol, both exhibiting an intramolecular hydrogen bond, have been synthesized for use as preliminary probes for fluorescence microscopy. The complexes were characterized using chemical techniques such as UV-vis, 1 H-NMR, TOCSY, FT-IR, cyclic voltammetry, mass spectrometry (EI-MS 752.22 M + for C3 and 780.26 M + for C4 ) and DFT calculations including spin–orbit effects. The electron withdrawing nature of the ancillary ligand L in C3 and C4 explains their electrochemical behavior, which shows the oxidation of Re I at 1.84 V for C3 and at 1.88 V for C4 . The UV-vis absorption and emission properties have been studied at room temperature in acetonitrile solution. The complexes show luminescent emission with a large Stokes shift ( λ ex = 366 nm, λ em = 610 nm for C3 and λ ex = 361 nm, λ em = 560 nm for C4 ). The TDDFT calculations suggest that an experimental mixed absorption band at 360 nm could be assigned to MLCT (d(Re) → π*(dmb)) and LLCT (π(L) → π*(dmb)) transitions. We have also assessed the cytotoxicity of C3 and C4 in an epithelial cell line (T84). We found that 12.5 μg ml −1 of C3 or C4 is the minimum concentration needed to kill 80% of the cell population, as determined by neutral red uptake. Finally, the potential of C3 and C4 as biological dyes for use in fluorescent microscopy was assessed in bacteria ( Salmonella enterica ) and yeasts ( Candida albicans and Cryptococcus spp.), and in an ovarian cancer cell line (SKOV-3). We found that in all cases, both C3 and C4 are suitable compounds to be used as fluorescent dyes for biological purposes. In addition, we present evidence suggesting that these rhenium( i ) tricarbonyl complexes may be also useful as differential fluorescent dyes in yeasts ( Candida albicans and Cryptococcus spp.), without the need for antibodies

ABSTRACT
Objective: Try to know if the crew of the Spanish boat Coxless four selected for the pre-Olympic 2016 Rio de Janeiro shows the Ringelmann effect, which is that as the number of components of a group, the individual contribution decreases. Method: The sample is composed of four rowers crew of that boat with an experience of 13, 16, 10 and 13 years, respectively, and an average age of 24.25 years ([DT] = 0.5). Results: In all cases a systematic increase occurs in the equipment condition regarding individual, with an average of meters traveled in this of 1029.25 meters, while the group was 1036.75. The number of watts generated was also higher in the collective execution (535.25w. versus 524.25w.). However, the average of strokes in the individual condition was lower (35.5) to the group (37.25). As for the perception of effort (Borg scale), the rowers individually scored lower (7.75) than in group (8.75)

Interleukin-10 Production by T and B Cells Is a Key Factor to Promote Systemic Salmonella enterica Serovar Typhimurium Infection in Mice
Indexción: Scopus.Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium (S. Typhimurium) is a Gram-negative bacterium that produces disease in numerous hosts. In mice, oral inoculation is followed by intestinal colonization and subsequent systemic dissemination, which leads to severe pathogenesis without the activation of an efficient anti-Salmonella immune response. This feature suggests that the infection caused by S. Typhimurium may promote the production of anti-inflammatory molecules by the host that prevent efficient T cell activation and bacterial clearance. In this study, we describe the contribution of immune cells producing the anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-10 (IL-10) to the systemic infection caused by S. Typhimurium in mice. We observed that the production of IL-10 was required by S. Typhimurium to cause a systemic disease, since mice lacking IL-10 (IL-10-/-) were significantly more resistant to die after an infection as compared to wild-type (WT) mice. IL-10-/- mice had reduced bacterial loads in internal organs and increased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in serum at 5 days of infection. Importantly, WT mice showed high bacterial loads in tissues and no increase of cytokines in serum after 5 days of S. Typhimurium infection, except for IL-10. In WT mice, we observed a peak of il-10 messenger RNA production in ileum, spleen, and liver after 5 days of infection. Importantly, the adoptive transfer of T or B cells from WT mice restored the susceptibility of IL-10-/- mice to systemic S. Typhimurium infection, suggesting that the generation of regulatory cells in vivo is required to sustain a systemic infection by S. Typhimurium. These findings support the notion that IL-10 production from lymphoid cells is a key process in the infective cycle of S. Typhimurium in mice due to generation of a tolerogenic immune response that prevents bacterial clearance and supports systemic dissemination

Consumer acculturation theory: (crossing) conceptual boundaries
Consumer acculturation theorists have developed an insightful body of literature about the ways in which migrants adapt to foreign cultures via consumption. The present paper revisits 14 key studies from this field to highlight its most important contributions, critique its conceptual boundaries, and present cases of conceptual border crossings that indicate an emerging need for a broader conceptualization of the phenomenon. The paper closes by introducing a model that frames consumer acculturation as a complex system of recursive socio-cultural adaptation, and discusses its implications for future research
