Bohr's complementarity relation and the violation of the CP symmetry in high energy physics

We test Bohr's complementary relation, which captures the most counterintuitive difference of a classical and a quantum world, for single and bipartite neutral kaons. They present a system that is naturally interfering, oscillating and decaying. Moreover, kaons break the CP symmetry (C...charge conjugation, P...parity). In detail we discuss the effect of the CP violation on Bohr's relation, i.e. the effect on the "particle-like" information and the "wave-like" information. Further we show that the quantity that complements the single partite information for bipartite kaons is indeed concurrence, a measure of entanglement, strengthening our concept of entanglement. We find that the defined entanglement measure is independent of CP violation while it has been shown that nonlocality is sensitive to CP violation.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figure

This paper analyzes processes of “creative destruction” and “vacuuming” carried out by national and local government administrations and real-estate developers, for the urbanization of State-owned former railway lands (and adjacent premises, one of them once property of the Morixe flour mill, and the other one being a near community vegetable garden) located by the Caballito neighborhood in the City of Buenos Aires. These processes, coupled with the narratives of neighbors, influenced the definition of “legitimate” and “illegitimate” uses of urban space.Fil: Marcus, Juliana. This paper analyze the case of the block 66, in Balvanera neighborhood in Buenos Aires city as a manifestation of the commercialization of the city process in a neoliberalization of the space context. This block was completely vacuum and demolished for the construction of a close arena for rock concerts. The project was resisted by the neighbour. In the first place, the paper carry out a historical reconstruction of this space and the previous uses before the demolition. In the second place, it addresses the “urban vacuum” process of the block in “creative destruction” context. In the third and in the last place, it analyze the refilling up of the piece of land in study from the conceived space, lived space and perceived space. The research methodology was based in the second sources analyze like journalistics articles and the contents of vecinal´s blogs. Additionally, we take in-depth interviews to neighbors to recuperate both the blocks´s history and the neighborhood resistance and participation. Also, we carried out observation of neighboring assembly and manifestation in the public space, as well as observation of the zone of the blocks studied.Fil: Marcus, Juliana. Objective: This writing aims to introduce new antimicrobial test apparatus called Canal Dish (CD), theoretically. Methods: We have designed two types of CD such as Circular CD (CCD) and Square CD (SCD). Internally, the CCD is a 80 mm diameter circular while the SCD is a 80×80 mm square CD plate. Both of them contain 2(40×2) mm parallel travelling canals from the each CD-centre having radius of 3 mm. Canals are 6 mm in depth. Results: The features of CCD and SCD indicate possible allowance of various size, low media consuming, the inclusion of multiple microorganisms and/or test samples/doses, ease of handling; therefore, understanding, rapidity, and economy. Conclusion: CD may replace currently used Petri dishes due to its cost-effectiveness, rapidity, ease of handling and a wider range of applicability. Keywords: Antimicrobial assay, Canal dish, Circular, Square, New apparatu

MACERATION-VORTEX-TECHNIQUE (MVT), A RAPID AND NEW EXTRACTION METHOD IN PHYTO-PHARMACOLOGICAL SCREENING

Extraction is a process of preparation of extracts from biological materials (plant/animal/microorganism) in the essence of drug discovery and development scienticism. This writing is aimed at proposing a new, rapid, economical and easy extraction method, Maceration-Vortex-Technique (MVT). For this 2-5 g of powdered materials is sucked into 5-10 ml of solvent recommended for extraction. A cleaned, small amber-colored glass bottle of 20-25 ml capacity is needed for this purpose. Powdered materials are mixed with the solvent, then followed by shaking vigorously; shaken for 1.5-2 h and vortexed for 5 min. The extract is collected by immediate filtration through filter paper (Whatmann no. 1) and allowed for concentration and/or solvent partitioning. The MVT allows a 3 h extraction of plant materials. A small amount of extraction material is needed along with a small quantity of solvent which is a marker for the economy of this extraction process. In conclusion, rapidity in the extraction process is the rapidity in the screening process of biological materials. The MVT may be one of the speediest and most economical extraction processes. Keywords: Extraction, Maceration-Vortex-Technique, New method, Phyto-pharmacological screenin

    Engineering Airway Epithelium

    Get PDF
Airway epithelium is constantly presented with injurious signals, yet under healthy circumstances, the epithelium maintains its innate immune barrier and mucociliary elevator function. This suggests that airway epithelium has regenerative potential (I. R. Telford and C. F. Bridgman, 1990). In practice, however, airway regeneration is problematic because of slow turnover and dedifferentiation of epithelium thereby hindering regeneration and increasing time necessary for full maturation and function. Based on the anatomy and biology of the airway epithelium, a variety of tissue engineering tools available could be utilized to overcome the barriers currently seen in airway epithelial generation. This paper describes the structure, function, and repair mechanisms in native epithelium and highlights specific and manipulatable tissue engineering signals that could be of great use in the creation of artificial airway epithelium

Efficient building management with IP-based wireless sensor network

Existing Building/Energy Management Systems (BMS/EMS) fail to convey holistic performance to the building manager. A 20% reduction in energy consumption can be achieved by efficiently operated buildings compared with current practice. However, in the majority of buildings, occupant comfort and energy consumption analysis is primarily restricted by available sensor and meter data. Installation of a continuous monitoring process can significantly improve the building systems’ performance. We present WSN-BMDS, an IP-based wireless sensor network building monitoring and diagnostic system. The main focus of WSN-BMDS is to obtain much higher degree of information about the building operation then current BMSs are able to provide. Our system integrates a heterogeneous set of wireless sensor nodes with IEEE 802.11 backbone routers and the Global Sensor Network (GSN) web server. Sensing data is stored in a database at the back office via UDP protocol and can be access over the Internet using GSN. Through this demonstration, we show that WSN-BMDS provides accurate measurements of air-temperature, air-humidity, light, and energy consumption for particular rooms in our target building. Our interactive graphical user interface provides a user-friendly environment showing live network topology, monitor network statistics, and run-time management actions on the network. We also demonstrate actuation by changing the artificial light level in one of the rooms
