Fulde-Ferrell state induced purely by the orbital effect in a superconducting nanowire
We demonstrate that the Fulde-Ferrell (FF) phase can be induced uniquely by
the orbital effect in a cylindrical metallic nanowire. In the external magnetic
field the two-fold degeneracy with respect to the orbital quantum number is
lifted what leads to a Fermi wave vector mismatch between the subbands with
opposite orbital momenta in the paired state. This mismatch can be compensated
by the nonzero total momentum of the Cooper pairs created by electrons from
split subbands what results in the formation of the FF phase. With increasing
magnetic field a series of FF stability regions appear in between which the
standard BCS superconducting phase is stable.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figure
Early verb inflection in lithuanian
The source of the data used in this paper are recordings of conversations with a Lithuanian girl, Rūta. Rūta lives in Vilnius and is the only child in the family. Both parents speak standard Lithuanian without dialectal influences. The recordings were taken on a free basis without a fixed schedule, then transcribed by the mother of the child, double-checked and coded in accordance with CHILDES by the author of the paper. At the moment of writing this contribution the data taken between 1;7-2;5 have been fully processed. Over this period about 34.5 hours of recordings were collected
Uwarunkowania i korzyści empowermentu we współczesnych organizacjach
The objective of the paper is to present empowerment from various perspectives, indicate its determinants and applications in modern organizations. The paper is theoretical and informational in character. Empowerment revolving around the inclusion of employees into decision-making and development of their tangible influence upon the organization’s operations constitutes an answer to needs of modern enterprises. The paper reviews definitions of empowerment, describes its elements from the point of view of employees and companies, and presents benefits and costs of empowerment incurred by the organization. A review of studies pertaining to the impact of empowerment upon organizations was also conducted.
Discrete Time Quantum Walk Approach to State Transfer
We show that a quantum state transfer, previously studied as a continuous
time process in networks of interacting spins, can be achieved within the model
of discrete time quantum walks with position dependent coin. We argue that due
to additional degrees of freedom, discrete time quantum walks allow to observe
effects which cannot be observed in the corresponding continuous time case.
First, we study a discrete time version of the engineered coupling protocol due
to Christandl et. al. [Phys. Rev. Lett. 92, 187902 (2004)] and then discuss the
general idea of conversion between continuous time quantum walks and discrete
time quantum walks.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, comments welcom
Functions Preserving the Biadditivity
In this paper we consider the generalization of the orthogonality
equation. Let S be a semigroup, and let H,X be abelian groups. For two
given biadditive functions A: S2 → X, B: H2 → X and for two unknown
mappings f, g : S → H the functional equation
B(f(x), g(y)) = A(x, y)
will be solved under quite natural assumptions. This extends the wellknown
characterization of the linear isometry
Decomposition of two functions in the orthogonality equation
The aim of this paper is to solve the orthogonality equation with two unknown
functions. This problem was posed by J. Chmieli´nski during two international conferences
Quantum walk as a generalized measuring device
We show that a one-dimensional discrete time quantum walk can be used to
implement a generalized measurement in terms of positive operator value measure
(POVM) on a single qubit. More precisely, we show that for a single qubit any
set of rank 1 and rank 2 POVM elements can be generated by a properly
engineered quantum walk. In such a scenario the measurement of particle at
position x=i corresponds to a measurement of a POVM element E_i on a qubit. We
explicitly construct quantum walks implementing unambiguous state
discrimination and SIC-POVM.Comment: 6 pages, 1 figur
