The Role of Protestantism in the Emergence of Modern Science: Critiques of Harrison's Hypothesis

According to Peter Harrison's book The Bible, Protestantism and the Rise of Natural Science modern science came into existence as a result of the emphasis of Protestants on the literal sense of the Scripture, their refusal of the earlier symbolic or allegorical interpretation, and their efforts at fixing the meaning of the biblical text in which each passage was to be ascribed a single and unique meaning. This article tries to summarize the most significant critiques of Harrison's hypothesis and to acknowledge their legitimacy. However, the alternative explanation of the emergence of modern science as a result of disputes over the biblical interpretation and the subsequent discovery of the ambiguous character of the ordinary verbal language is not fully satisfactory either

Indicators for economic aspects of sustainable urban development

Tento příspěvek je zaměřen na zkoumání ekonomického mechanismu lokalizace urbanistických funkcí a realizace urbanistických záměrů, jejichž podoba je velmi často určována zájmy soukromých investorů. Cílem soukromých investorů (developerů) je především vygenerovat zisk v krátkodobém horizontu, zatímco sídla by měla brát v úvahu stabilní a dlouhodobý ekonomický růst, který je jedním z pilířů udržitelného rozvoje. Nejvhodnějším nástrojem pro hodnocení ekonomické udržitelnosti je definice a vymezení sady vhodných ukazatelů, které lze využít pro posouzení určitého urbanistického řešení nebo ekonomických dopadů řešení stávajícího. Toto řešení je alternativou k indikátorům užívaným v současnosti, které jsou nejčastěji založené na makroekonomických ukazatelích (hrubý domácí produkt) a jejichž vypovídací schopnost lze považovat za velmi omezenou. Posouzení záměru je vhodné dát do souvislosti s finančním zdravím města a schopnosti realizovat své investice, vypočtené na základě finančních výsledků za několik po sobě jdoucích období.This paper is aimed to analyse how economic mechanism influences location of urban functions and how to assess urban design projects. These projects are often influenced by economic interests of private investors. These investors are focused mainly on short-term economic profit whereas the cities have to consider stabile economic growth connected to sustainable development. The most appropriate tool for sustainable economic development measuring is setting up a set of indicators which could be used as a tool for assessment of a concrete urban design project or economic impacts of current urban solution. This approach is meant as an alternative to currently used economic indicators based on macroeconomic variables (mainly Gross Domestic Product) whose reporting ability does not seem to be sufficient. Indicators which are focused on financial health of the cities and its ability to realize the investments can be considered the supportive tool. These indicators are calculated from financial results of some consecutive annual periods

Systém řízení provozu na modelovém kolejišti

This article is focused on description of four ways of tracking control on the modelling yard. The yard is situated in the laboratory of Department of control systems and instrumentation. Control system was continuously developed by the help of students. First step was connecting the particular model's objects to input/output devices of the PLC control system and creating the basic programs. Next steps were design and creating of the hand control panel, creating of display views in InTouch software, design and creating of digital control panel and digitalization of locomotives. For every new created hardware and software control components, the program modules were developed (for PLC). The model yard is fully operable at present.Článek je zaměřen na popis čtyř způsobů řízení provozu na modelovém kolejišti. Modelové kolejiště je umístěno v laboratoři Katedry automatizační techniky a řízení. Systém řízení je neustále vyvíjen ve spolupráci se studenty. Prvním krokem bylo připojení jednotlivých objektů modelu k vstupním a výstupním jednotkám programovatelného logického automatu a vytvoření základního programu. Následoval vývoj a realizace panelu ručního ovládání, vytvoření jednotlivých obrazovek v software InTouch, návrh a realizace panelu digitálního řízení a digitalizace lokomotiv. Pro všechny nově vytvořené hardwarové a softwarové řídicí komponenty byly vyvinuty softwarové moduly (pro PLC). Modelové kolejiště je v současnosti plně funkční

Tento příspěvek je zaměřen na zkoumání ekonomického mechanismu lokalizace urbanistických funkcí a realizace urbanistických záměrů, jejichž podoba je velmi často určována zájmy soukromých investorů. Nejvhodnějším způsobem pro hodnocení udržitelnosti je definovat a vymezit vhodné indikátory. Tyto indikátory můžeme využít pro posouzení konkrétního urbanistického řešení. Principem takového posouzení je vzájemný vztah mezi veřejným zájmem a ekonomickou efektivností, která vyjadřuje zájem investora. Posouzení záměru je vhodné dát do souvislosti s finančním zdravím města a schopnosti realizovat své investice, vypočtené na základě finančních výsledků za několik po sobě jdoucích období.This paper is aimed to research how economic mechanism influences location of urban functions and how to assess urban design projects. Problémy mikroregionů při tvorbě společných projektů

Příspěvek pojednává o předpokladech pro efektivní fungování mikroregionů a úskalích jejich činnosti, a to zejména při tvorbě, financování a realizaci společných projektů. Příspěvek se snaží poukázat na příčiny nenaplněných očekávání z činnosti mikroregionů a dát je do širšího kontextu. Předmětem příspěvku je jednak víceznačnost pojmu mikroregion, nejednoznačnost právní úpravy sdružování obcí, jednak problémy spojené s plánováním na úrovni mikroregionů (zejména tvorbou strategických rozvojových dokumentů). Rovněž relativně široká škála možností financování společných projektů přináší komplikace při tvorbě projektů, čemuž příspěvek věnuje odpovídající pozornost.The paper analyses the assumptions of the effective functioning of microregions and barriers related particularly to the design, financing and realization of common projects. The paper defines the grounds for unfulfilled expectations coming out from the activities of the microregions and explains them in a wider context. The analysis is focused partly on description of the ambiguity in a term microregion and confusion bound with the municipality clustering legislation; and partly on the microregion planning problems (particularly formation of strategic development plans). In parallel, relatively broad range of financing possibilities of the common projects bears the problems when designing the projects. Import 07/02/2011Tato diplomová práce pojednává o možnostech řešení optimalizace úzkorozchodné tratě Třemešná ve Slezsku – Osoblaha. Na začátku se seznámíme se stávajícím stavem tratě. Dále následuje návrh překladního terminálu ve stanici Bohušov, popis možností rekonstrukce stávajících staničních zařízení včetně budov a nástupišť a návrh tří variant trasování pro prodloužení tratě do Polska včetně výkresové části. Jednotlivé varianty jsou z různých hledisek posouzeny a je z nich vybrána ta nejvhodnější, ke které je vytvořena vizualizace.This thesis discusses how to address optimization of narrow gauge lines Třemešná in Silesia - Osoblaha. To start with, learn about the current state of the track. This is followed by a proposal překladního Bohušov terminal at the station, a description of the options for reconstruction of existing facilities including the station buildings and platforms, and proposes three options for extending the trace lines in Poland, including the drawing part.
