Superspace Higher Derivative Terms in Two Dimensions

We study (2,2)(2,2) and (4,4)(4,4) supersymmetric theories with superspace higher derivatives in two dimensions. A characteristic feature of these models is that they have several different vacua, some of which break supersymmetry. Depending on the vacuum, the equations of motion describe different propagating degrees of freedom. Various examples are presented which illustrate their generic properties. As a by-product we see that these new vacua give a dynamical way of generating non-linear realizations. In particular, our 2D (4,4)(4,4) example is the dimensional reduction of a 4D N=2N=2 model, and gives a new way for the spontaneous breaking of extended supersymmetry.Comment: 23 pages, v3: comments added, published versio

Partial N=2{\cal N}=2 Supersymmetry Breaking and Deformed Hypermultiplets

    Get PDF
We study partial supersymmetry breaking from N=2{\cal N}=2 to N=1{\cal N}=1 by adding non-linear terms to the N=2{\cal N}=2 supersymmetry transformations. By exploiting the necessary existence of a deformed supersymmetry algebra for partial breaking to occur, we systematically use N=2{\cal N}=2 projective superspace with central charges to provide a streamlined setup. For deformed O(2){\cal O}(2) and O(4){\cal O}(4) hypermultiplets, besides reproducing known results, we describe new models exhibiting partial supersymmetry breaking with and without higher-derivative interactions.Comment: 49 pages, v

Oblast fotovoltaiky a stavby solárních elektráren zaznamenaly v České republice v minulých letech veliký rozmach především díky velice příznivým podmínkám pro podnikání v tomto oboru. The field of photovoltaics and solar power stations in the Czech Republic have experienced a huge developement in the past years thank's to very favourable conditions for enterprising in this line. The kaolinite/TiO2 composite (60 wt% of TiO2) was prepared by thermal hydrolysis of a raw kaolin suspension in titanyl sulphate and calcined at different temperatures (600, 650 and 700°C) and for different times (1, 2 and 3 h). The obtained samples were characterized by XRPD, N2 physical adsorption and SEM, and tested for photocatalytic reduction of CO2. The different calcination conditions did not influence TiO2 phase composition, only slightly changed the specific surface area, and significantly affected crystallite size of kaolinite/TiO2 composite. A higher temperature and longer duration of calcination lead to higher crystallinity of the powder. The photocatalytic results showed that the crystallite size determined the efficiency of kaolinite/TiO2 photocatalysts. Vyšší teplota a delší doba kalcinace vedly k vyšší krystalitě prášku. Fotokatalytické výsledky ukázaly, že velikost krystality určuje účinnost fotokatalyzítoru kaolinit/TiO2

Higher spin superfield interactions with complex linear supermultiplet: conserved supercurrents and cubic vertices

Abstract We continue the program of constructing cubic interactions between matter and higher spin supermultiplets. In this work we consider a complex linear superfield and we find that it can have cubic interactions only with supermultiplets with propagating spins j = s + 1, j = s + 1/2 for any non-negative integer s (half-integer superspin super-multiplets). We construct the higher spin supercurrent and supertrace, these compose the canonical supercurrent multiplet which generates the cubic interactions. We also prove that for every s there exist an alternative minimal supercurrent multiplet, with vanishing supertrace. Furthermore, we perform a duality transformation in order to make contact with the corresponding chiral theory. An interesting result is that the dual chiral theory has the same coupling constant with the complex linear theory only for odd values of s, whereas for even values of s the coupling constants for the two theories have opposite signs. Additionally we explore the component structure of the supercurrent multiplet and derive the higher spin currents. We find two bosonic currents for spins j = s and j = s + 1 and one fermionic current for spin j = s + 1/2

Reanalyzing the genetic history of Kra-Dai speakers from Thailand and new insights into their genetic interactions beyond Mainland Southeast Asia

Abstract Thailand is a country where over 60 languages from five language families (Austroasiatic, Austronesian, Hmong-Mien, Kra-Dai, and Sino-Tibetan) are spoken. The Kra-Dai language family is the most prevalent, and Thai, the official language of the country, belongs to it. Previous genome-wide studies on Thailand populations revealed a complex population structure and put some hypotheses forward concerning the population history of the country. However, many published populations have not been co-analyzed, and some aspects of population history were not explored adequately. In this study, we employ new methods to re-analyze published genome-wide genetic data on Thailand populations, with a focus on 14 Kra-Dai-speaking groups. Our analyses reveal South Asian ancestry in Kra-Dai-speaking Lao Isan and Khonmueang, and in Austroasiatic-speaking Palaung, in contrast to a previous study in which the data were generated. We support the admixture scenario for the formation of Kra-Dai-speaking groups from Thailand who harbor both Austroasiatic-related ancestry and Kra-Dai-related ancestry from outside of Thailand. We also provide evidence of bidirectional admixture between Southern Thai and Nayu, an Austronesian-speaking group from Southern Thailand. Challenging some previously reported genetic analyses, we reveal a close genetic relationship between Nayu and Austronesian-speaking groups from Island Southeast Asia (ISEA)
