    Searching for new physics in bssdˉb\to s s \bar d decays

    For any new physics possibly emerging in the future B experiments, the problem is how to extract the signals from the SM background. We consider the decay bssdˉb\to s s\bar d which is very small in the SM. In the MSSM this decay is possibly accessible in the future experiments. In the supersymmetric models with R-parity violating couplings, this channel is not strictly constrained, thus being useful in obtaining bounds on the lepton-number violating couplings. A typical candidate for the suggested search is the BKKπ+B^-\to K^-K^-\pi^+ mode.Comment: 9 pages, one figure, late

    Estimating county health statistics with twitter

    Understanding the relationships among environment, behav-ior, and health is a core concern of public health researchers. While a number of recent studies have investigated the use of social media to track infectious diseases such as influenza, lit-tle work has been done to determine if other health concerns can be inferred. In this paper, we present a large-scale study of 27 health-related statistics, including obesity, health insur-ance coverage, access to healthy foods, and teen birth rates. We perform a linguistic analysis of the Twitter activity in the top 100 most populous counties in the U.S., and find a signifi-cant correlation with 6 of the 27 health statistics. When com-pared to traditional models based on demographic variables alone, we find that augmenting models with Twitter-derived information improves predictive accuracy for 20 of 27 statis-tics, suggesting that this new methodology can complement existing approaches

    Horizontal Symmetry for Quark and Squark Masses in Supersymmetric SU(5)

    Recent interest in horizontal symmetry model building has been driven mainly by the large top mass and hence strong hierarchy in quark masses, and the possibility of appropriately constrained soft squark mass matrices, in place of an assumed universality condition, for satisfying the relevant FCNC constraints. Here we present the first successful SUSY-SU(5)SU(5) model that has such a feature. The horizontal symmetry is a gauged (Q12×U(1))H(Q_{12} \times U(1))_H ((SU(2)×U(1))H\subset (SU(2) \times U(1))_H). All nonrenormalizable terms compatible with the symmetry are allowed in the mass matrix constructions.     Tissue-resident macrophages regulate lymphatic vessel growth and patterning in the developing heart.

    Macrophages are components of the innate immune system with key roles in tissue inflammation and repair. It is now evident that macrophages also support organogenesis, but few studies have characterized their identity, ontogeny and function during heart development. Here, we show that the distribution and prevalence of resident macrophages in the subepicardial compartment of the developing heart coincides with the emergence of new lymphatics, and that macrophages interact closely with the nascent lymphatic capillaries. Consequently, global macrophage deficiency led to extensive vessel disruption, with mutant hearts exhibiting shortened and mis-patterned lymphatics. The origin of cardiac macrophages was linked to the yolk sac and foetal liver. Moreover, the Cx3cr1 + myeloid lineage was found to play essential functions in the remodelling of the lymphatic endothelium. Mechanistically, macrophage hyaluronan was required for lymphatic sprouting by mediating direct macrophage-lymphatic endothelial cell interactions.     Measurement of the CKM Matrix Element Vcb|V_{cb}| from B0D+νB^{0} \to D^{*-} \ell^+ \nu_\ell at Belle

    We present a new measurement of the CKM matrix element Vcb|V_{cb}| from B0D+νB^{0} \to D^{*-} \ell^+ \nu_\ell decays, reconstructed with the full Belle data set of 711fb1711 \, \rm fb^{-1} integrated luminosity. Two form factor parameterizations, originally conceived by the Caprini-Lellouch-Neubert (CLN) and the Boyd, Grinstein and Lebed (BGL) groups, are used to extract the product F(1)ηEWVcb\mathcal{F}(1)\eta_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}| and the decay form factors, where F(1)\mathcal{F}(1) is the normalization factor and ηEW\eta_{\rm EW} is a small electroweak correction. In the CLN parameterization we find F(1)ηEWVcb=(35.06±0.15±0.56)×103\mathcal{F}(1)\eta_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}| = (35.06 \pm 0.15 \pm 0.56) \times 10^{-3}, ρ2=1.106±0.031±0.007\rho^{2}=1.106 \pm 0.031 \pm 0.007, R1(1)=1.229±0.028±0.009R_{1}(1)=1.229 \pm 0.028 \pm 0.009, R2(1)=0.852±0.021±0.006R_{2}(1)=0.852 \pm 0.021 \pm 0.006. For the BGL parameterization we obtain F(1)ηEWVcb=(34.93±0.23±0.59)×103\mathcal{F}(1)\eta_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}|= (34.93 \pm 0.23 \pm 0.59)\times 10^{-3}, which is consistent with the World Average when correcting for F(1)ηEW\mathcal{F}(1)\eta_{\rm EW}. The branching fraction of B0D+νB^{0} \to D^{*-} \ell^+ \nu_\ell is measured to be B(B0D+ν)=(4.90±0.02±0.16)%\mathcal{B}(B^{0}\rightarrow D^{*-}\ell^{+}\nu_{\ell}) = (4.90 \pm 0.02 \pm 0.16)\%. We also present a new test of lepton flavor universality violation in semileptonic BB decays, B(B0De+ν)B(B0Dμ+ν)=1.01±0.01±0.03 \frac{{\cal B }(B^0 \to D^{*-} e^+ \nu)}{{\cal B }(B^0 \to D^{*-} \mu^+ \nu)} = 1.01 \pm 0.01 \pm 0.03~. The errors correspond to the statistical and systematic uncertainties respectively. This is the most precise measurement of F(1)ηEWVcb\mathcal{F}(1)\eta_{\rm EW}|V_{cb}| and form factors to date and the first experimental study of the BGL form factor parameterization in an experimental measurement

    Evidence for a vector charmonium-like state in e+eDs+Ds2(2573)+c.c.e^+e^- \to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c.

    We report the measurement of e+eDs+Ds2(2573)+c.c.e^+e^- \to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c. via initial-state radiation using a data sample of an integrated luminosity of 921.9 fb1^{-1} collected with the Belle detector at the Υ(4S)\Upsilon(4S) and nearby. We find evidence for an enhancement with a 3.4σ\sigma significance in the invariant mass of Ds+Ds2(2573)+c.c.D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^- +c.c. The measured mass and width are (4619.88.0+8.9(stat.)±2.3(syst.)) MeV/c2(4619.8^{+8.9}_{-8.0}({\rm stat.})\pm2.3({\rm syst.}))~{\rm MeV}/c^{2} and (47.014.8+31.3(stat.)±4.6(syst.)) MeV(47.0^{+31.3}_{-14.8}({\rm stat.})\pm4.6({\rm syst.}))~{\rm MeV}, respectively. The mass, width, and quantum numbers of this enhancement are consistent with the charmonium-like state at 4626 MeV/c2c^2 recently reported by Belle in e+eDs+Ds1(2536)+c.c.e^+e^-\to D^+_sD_{s1}(2536)^-+c.c. The product of the e+eDs+Ds2(2573)+c.c.e^+e^-\to D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^-+c.c. cross section and the branching fraction of Ds2(2573)Dˉ0KD^*_{s2}(2573)^-\to{\bar D}^0K^- is measured from Ds+Ds2(2573)D^+_sD^*_{s2}(2573)^- threshold to 5.6 GeV.Comment: 9 pages, 4 figure

    Search for CPCP violation in the D+π+π0D^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{0} decay at Belle

    We search for CPCP violation in the charged charm meson decay D+π+π0D^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{0}, based on a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 921 fb1\rm 921~fb^{-1} collected by the Belle experiment at the KEKB e+ee^{+}e^{-} asymmetric-energy collider. The measured CPCP violating asymmetry is [+2.31±1.24(stat)±0.23(syst)]%[+2.31\pm1.24({\rm stat})\pm0.23({\rm syst})]\%, which is consistent with the standard model prediction and has a significantly improved precision compared to previous results.Comment: 8 pages, 3 figure

    Measurement of Branching Fractions of Hadronic Decays of the Ωc0\Omega_c^0 Baryon

    Using a data sample of 980 fb1{\rm fb}^{-1} of e+ee^+e^- annihilation data taken with the Belle detector operating at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e+ee^+e^- collider, we report the results of a study of the decays of the Ωc0\Omega_c^0 charmed baryon into hadronic final states. We report the most precise measurements to date of the relative branching fractions of the Ωc0\Omega_c^0 into Ωπ+π0\Omega^-\pi^+\pi^0, Ωπ+ππ+\Omega^-\pi^+\pi^-\pi^+, ΞKπ+π+\Xi^-K^-\pi^+\pi^+, and Ξ0Kπ+\Xi^0K^-\pi^+, as well as the first measurements of the branching fractions of the Ωc0\Omega_c^0 into ΞKˉ0π+\Xi^-\bar{K}^0\pi^+, Ξ0Kˉ0\Xi^0\bar{K}^0, and ΛKˉ0Kˉ0\Lambda \bar{K}^0\bar{K}^0, all with respect to the Ωπ+\Omega^-\pi^+ decay. In addition, we investigate the resonant substructure of these modes. Finally, we present a limit on the branching fraction for the decay Ωc0Σ+KKπ+\Omega_c^0\to\Sigma^+K^-K^-\pi^+
