    Statistical measure of complexity for quantum systems with continuous variables

    The Fisher-Shannon statistical measure of complexity is analyzed for a continuous manifold of quantum observables. It is probed then than calculating it only in the configuration and momentum spaces will not give a complete description for certain systems. Then a more general measure for the complexity of a quantum system by the integration of the usual Fisher-Shannon measure over all the parameter space is proposed.     Right Upper-Quadrant Pain in a Patient with Drug Abuse, Secondary Syphilis and Occult Hepatitis B Virus

    OBJECTIVE: To describe the etiology of hepatitis and identify occult hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. CLINICAL PRESENTATION AND INTERVENTION: A 40-year-old man presented with severe abdominal pain and jaundice, a history of acute HBV infection that had cleared as well as the use of acetaminophen, methamphetamine, buprenorphine and marijuana. He admitted to having had unprotected sex with multiple partners of both genders. A thorough skin examination revealed papulosquamous lesions on his penis, scrotum, upper and lower extremities and feet. Transaminases and bilirubin were elevated. His rapid plasma reagin was reactive, and hepatitis serologies showed occult HBV. Liver biopsy showed severe hepatitis, but the stains for hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis B core antigen were negative. The pathological findings were highly indicative of drug-induced hepatitis without evidence of chronic hepatitis, reactivation of HBV or syphilitic hepatitis. With supportive management and abstinence from drugs, his condition improved. CONCLUSION: This case describes a patient with multiple potential causes for hepatitis and highlights the importance of obtaining a detailed social history.     Design of Low Power CMOS Read-Out with TDI Function for Infrared Linear Photodiode Array Detectors

    A new low voltage CMOS infrared readout circuit using the buffer-direct injection method is presented. It uses a single supply voltage of 1.8 volts and a bias current of 1uA. The time-delay integration technique is used to increase the signal to noise ratio. A current memory circuit with faulty diode detection is used to remove dark current for background compensation and to disable a photodiode in a cell if detected as faulty. Simulations are shown that verify the circuit that is currently in fabrication in 0.5ym CMOS technology

    Occupational Asthma in Antibiotic Manufacturing Workers: Case Reports and Systematic Review

    Background. The risks of occupational asthma (OA) from antibiotics are uncertain. We report 4 new cases and a systematic review of the literature. Methods. Cases were identified through a specialist clinic, each underwent specific provocation testing (SPT). We subsequently reviewed the published literature. Results. The patients were employed in the manufacture of antibiotics; penicillins were implicated in three cases, in the fourth erythromycin, not previously reported to cause OA. In two, there was evidence of specific IgE sensitisation. At SPT each developed a late asthmatic reaction and increased bronchial hyperresponsiveness. 36 case reports have been previously published, 26 (citing penicillins or cephalosporins). Seven cross-sectional workplace-based surveys found prevalences of 5–8%. Conclusions. OA in antibiotic manufacturers may be more common than is generally recognised. Its pathogenesis remains unclear; immunological tests are of uncertain value and potential cases require confirmation with SPT. Further study of its frequency, mechanisms, and diagnosis is required

    CMOS First-Order All-Pass Filter With 2-Hz Pole Frequency

    A CMOS fully integrated all-pass filter with an extremely low pole frequency of 2 Hz is introduced in this paper. It has 0.08-dB passband ripple and 0.029-mm 2 Si area. It has 0.38-mW power consumption in strong inversion with ±0.6-V power supplies. In subthreshold, it has 0.64-μW quiescent power and operates with ±200-mV dc supplies. Miller multiplication is used to obtain a large equivalent capacitor without excessive Si area. By varying the gain of the Miller amplifier, the pole frequency can be varied from 2 to 48 Hz. Experimental and simulation results of a test chip prototype in 130-nm CMOS technology validate the proposed circuit

    Oral Tolerance and Pyruvate Dehydrogenase in Patients with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis

    Primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC) is a chronic cholestatic liver disease characterized by the immunological destruction of intralobular bile ducts and serum anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMA). Based upon previous work of oral tolerance and autoimmunity, we hypothesized that feeding the mitochondrial autoantigens of PBC would alter the clinical course and the level of antimitochondrial antibodies. The bovine pyruvate dehydrogenase complex (PDC) was purified and 5 mg fed in gelatin capsules to 6 patients with early stage PBC for 6 months. Antimitochondrial antibodies and liver biochemistries were measured at every 3 months for 12 months. The clinical trial was completed for all patients except for 1 who showed deterioration of pre-existing skin rash during treatment, which disappeared within 2 weeks after treatment was discontinued. However, after 1 year, neither the titers of AMAs nor liver biochemistries were significantly changed by this treatment. This is the first trial to test the efficacy of oral tolerance induction in PBC. However, the data, which limited in scope, did not demonstrate efficacy and further highlights the difficulties in showing continuing evidence of tolerance induction in autoimmunity

    Pseudo-three-stage Miller op-amp with enhanced small-signal and large-signal performance

    A simple technique to implement highly power efficient class AB-AB Miller op-amps is presented in this paper. It uses a composite input stage with resistive local common mode feedback that provides class AB operation to the input stage and essentially enhances the op-amp's effective transconductance gain, the dc open-loop gain, the gain-bandwidth product, and slew rate with just moderate increase in power dissipation. The experimental results of op-amps in strong inversion and subthreshold fabricated in a 130-nm standard CMOS technology validate the proposed approach. The op-amp has 9 V·pF/μs·μW large-signal figure of merit (FOM) and 17 MHz · pF/μW small-signal FOM with 1.2-V supply voltage. In subthreshold, the op-amp has 10 V · pF/μs · μW large-signal FOM and 92 MHz · pF/μW small-signal FOM with 0.5-V supply voltage.This work was supported by Grant TEC2016-80396- C2-R (AEI/FEDER)

    Análisis de la restitución simplificada de derechos arancelarios (Drawback) en Loreto, período 2010-2014

    De todos los beneficios tributarios que existen en el Perú como fomento a las exportaciones, es sin lugar a dudas, la Restitución Simplificada de Derechos Arancelarios (Drawback), la que más adeptos tiene. Incluso siempre se ha sostenido que no existe aquel beneficiario que no se sienta completamente atraído por las ventajas competitivas que el Drawback ofrece de manera directa en la actualidad. Sin duda hay mucho por compartir respecto al Drawback, pero se debe empezar señalando que el Régimen Aduanero del Drawback ha sido recogido en los artículos 82° y 83° la nueva Ley General de Aduanas aprobado por el Decreto Legislativo N° 1053 estableciendo las mismas definiciones, requisitos y procedimientos previstos desde mediados de los años noventa; de modo que en las siguientes líneas se desarrollan algunos aspectos que deberían tomarse en cuenta para la adecuada aplicación del Procedimiento de Restitución Simplificado de Derechos Arancelarios Sin embargo, las empresas exportadoras de Loreto vienen haciendo poco uso de este beneficio debido a varios factores. Uno de ellos es el desconocimiento del beneficio, otro es el temor a la fiscalización que realiza SUNAT – ADUANAS para poder otorgar el beneficio, entre los más importantes. A pesar de esto, la herramienta sigue siendo una de las de mayor uso a nivel nacional, que el gobierno comienza a bajar gradualmente, situación de la que se ocupa la presente tesis. La estructura de esta investigación se detalla en el Índice, mostrando total coherencia entre un capítulo y otro con la finalidad de demostrar la Hipótesis General planteada, así como las Hipótesis Específicas. La investigación analiza la Restitución Simplificada de Derechos Arancelarios - Drawback, recogiendo información de las empresas de Loreto que la utilizan. Luego, se estudian los datos y se validan las hipótesis para, posteriormente, arribar a las Conclusiones y Recomendaciones, en los respectivos capítulos que conforman la presente investigación.
