The identification of coupled map lattice models for autonomous cellular neural network patterns
The identification problem for spatiotemporal patterns which are generated by autonomous Cellular Neural Networks (CNN) is investigated in this paper. The application of traditional identification algorithms to these special spatiotemporal systems can produce poor models due to the inherent piecewise nonlinear structure of CNN. To solve this problem, a new type of Coupled Map Lattice model with output constraints and corresponding identification algorithms are proposed in the present study. Numerical examples show that the identified CML models have good prediction capabilities even over the long term and the main dynamics of the original patterns appears to be well represented
The identification of complex spatiotemporal patterns using Coupled map lattice model
Many complex and interesting spatiotemporal patterns have been observed in a wide range of scienti¯c areas. In this paper, two kinds of spatiotemporal patterns including spot replication and Turing systems are investigated and new identi¯cation methods are proposed to obtain Coupled Map Lattice (CML) models for this class of systems. Initially, a new correlation analysis method is introduced to determine an appropriate temporal and spatial data sampling step procedure for the identification of spatiotemporal systems. A new combined Orthogonal Forward Regression and Bayesian Learning algorithm with Laplace priors is introduced to identify sparse and robust CML models for complex spatiotemporal patterns. The final identified CML models are validated using correlation based model validation tests for spatiotemporal systems. Numerical re-sults illustrate the identification procedure and demonstrate the validity of the identified models
Potato virus Y transmitting aphids in a Finnish seed potato area
The aphid-transmissible Potato virus Y is a major problem in seed potato production (Valkonen , 2007).
The aphid flight activity was monitored from mid-June to the end of August with a suction trap and with yellow pan traps in 2007 and 2008.
Previous studies have concluded that potato colonising aphids are not the main vectors of Potato virus Y
Preparation of Amidoxime Polyacrylonitrile Chelating Nanofibers and Their Application for Adsorption of Metal Ions.
Polyacrylonitrile (PAN) nanofibers were prepared by electrospinning and they were modified with hydroxylamine to synthesize amidoxime polyacrylonitrile (AOPAN) chelating nanofibers, which were applied to adsorb copper and iron ions. The conversion of the nitrile group in PAN was calculated by the gravimetric method. The structure and surface morphology of the AOPAN nanofiber were characterized by a Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR) and a scanning electron microscope (SEM), respectively. The adsorption abilities of Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions onto the AOPAN nanofiber mats were evaluated. FT-IR spectra showed nitrile groups in the PAN were partly converted into amidoxime groups. SEM examination demonstrated that there were no serious cracks or sign of degradation on the surface of the PAN nanofibers after chemical modification. The adsorption capacities of both copper and iron ions onto the AOPAN nanofiber mats were higher than those into the raw PAN nanofiber mats. The adsorption data of Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions fitted particularly well with the Langmuir isotherm. The maximal adsorption capacities of Cu2+ and Fe3+ ions were 215.18 and 221.37 mg/g, respectively
Political Islam’s relation to capital and class
The last three decades have witnessed a relentless growth of Islamic movements, so that, today political Islam is an undeniable reality on the world scene. The events of September 11, 2001 and since have given it further prominence. From the Middle East to North Africa and South Asia, it has, in its various manifestations, become a major
player that needs to be analysed both politically and theoretically. The contradictory nature of political Islam means that such analyses must deal with it not only in relation to the interests of capital, but also in relation to the challenge it poses to socialist ideas
Targeting Arab/Muslim/South Asian Americans: Criminalization and Cultural Citizenship
In this essay, we further explore the responses of Arab and South Asian Muslim communities to the War on Terror, and ask whether these responses reveal alliance-building and pan-ethnic identification. Do the targeted groups, now portrayed as monolithic, find solidarity with each other, and if so, what are the bases for their sense of affinity. These questions force us to consider the deeper issues of pan-ethnic and political affiliation that highlight quandaries at the core of Asian American studies: how does a pan-ethnic approach challenge or support the racial and cultural categories used by state and empire to subordinate and divide populations
Since the last 7 years, the developing use of the coastal area of West Sumbawa very rapidly increase as the fishponds, sea estates and tourism objects. The northern part of the study area, from Labuan Tano to Labuan Sepakek Kecamatan Seteluk rapidly develope as the fishpond areas, while in Taliwang Bay Kecamatan Taliwang, the coastal and sea are used for sea estate by using modern technology. The southern part of the study area, developes as a tourism city at Desa Maluk, Kecamatan Jereweh. The developing of Desa Maluk is not supported by the environmental carrying capacity and the integrated programme, therefor soon or latter it will bring the bed environmental impacts on the coastal or sea areas. Some areas that recommended to be developed as the tourism objects, are the southern part of Labuan Sepakek, Labuan Balad, Kertasari Bay, Bennette Bay, Jelenga Bay and Maluk, while Labuan Tetong in the northern part of Kertasari Bay is suitable to be developed for fishponds estate with a sustainable environmental consideration
