Case-based complexity: within-case time variation and temporal casing

We observe that time is central to most social dynamics and yet remains poorly understood. The complexity sciences have contributed a wide range of concepts and tools to investigate and recast time in social systems. However, the dominant focus on quantitative models and quantification of data in the complexity sciences also prohibits a deeper understanding of time. As such, there is a need to fuse alternative notions of time with how it is commonly understood and measured in the complexity sciences. To this end, we juxtapose diverse notions of time from the social sciences and comment upon how this contrasts with notions in the complexity sciences. We will demonstrate how (qualitative) temporal casing can more appropriately capture social and causal complexity through within-case time variation. We use examples from research into megaprojects to demonstrate how temporal casing plays out in empirical analysis

Hemorragia peri-intraventricular e o desempenho motor de prematuros extremos na idade de termo

INTRODUÇÃO: Uma das principais causa de morbimortalidade de bebês nascidos prematuros estão relacionadas com a adaptação extrauterina e imaturidade do desenvolvimento no período neonatal, especialmente os de idade gestacional extrema. Estes bebês apresentam alto risco de comprometimento da função motora, cognitiva, linguística e comportamental, e os riscos são potencializados por lesões cerebrais como a hemorragia peri-intraventricular (HPIV). A realização de avaliações do desempenho motor precocemente favorece a redução de futuras deficiências, facilita o início precoce das intervenções em saúde ainda nos primeiros meses de vida. Assim, esse estudo objetivou comparar o desempenho motor de prematuros extremos com e sem diagnóstico de HPIV ao completarem idade de termo e analisar a relação entre os fatores de risco biológico para o desempenho motor. MÉTODOS: Através de uma análise transversal, quantitativa e descritiva, este estudo abrangeu todos os RNs prematuros extremos internados durante os meses de janeiro a agosto de 2019 na Neonatologia de um hospital terciário, ao completar 38 semanas à 40 semanas + 6 dias de IGC, que observassem os critérios de inclusão. O desempenho motor foi avaliado pelo Test of Infant Motor Performance (TIMP) e variáveis biológicas foram coletadas via prontuário eletrônico. RESULTADOS: Observou-se que 93,75% da amostra apresentou desempenho motor atípico; sendo que os bebês com diagnóstico de HPIV, em sua totalidade, foram caracterizados com atraso no desempenho motor (p = 0,044). Correlações foram observadas entre o desempenho motor e variáveis biológicas do grau de hemorragia peri-intraventricular, gemelaridade, o APGAR do 5º minuto, estado nutricional, o uso de surfactante e dias de ventilação mecânica. CONCLUSÃO: Bebês prematuros extremos ao completar idade de termo possuem desempenho motor abaixo do esperado, especialmente RNs com hemorragia peri-intraventricular apresentam desempenho motor significativamente menor que seus pares

Chevrolet no Lollapalooza 2022 : análise do relacionamento entre os usuários e a marca através de divulgações das ações de experiência no Twitter

Este trabalho é composto por um estudo de caso sobre as publicações dos usuários do Twitter referente as ativações de marca da Chevrolet no Lollapalooza Brasil 2022. Para compreender essas movimentações de relacionamento entre marca e público, inicialmente foram conduzidas aproximações ao tema com a construção de três capítulos teóricos. No trabalho são apresentados o processo da comunicação até o desenvolvimento do marketing de experiência no mercado e a constituição de marca enquanto representação simbólica de uma organização (PEROTTO, 2007; KOTLER; KELLER, 2012; KELLER, 2003). São abordados a gestão de eventos estratégicos e suas ferramentas adjacentes, como o patrocínio de marca e a experiência voltada ao entretenimento (GIAGACLIA, 2011; KELLER; MACHADO, 2006; COBRA, 2008). A internet como catalisadora de mudanças nas relações mercadológicas e na adesão das redes sociais, com foco no rede Twitter, para compreensão do relacionamento de marca são trazidos através de Terra (2005); Castells (1999) e Recuero (2011). A metodologia utilizada foi de caráter exploratório, buscando analisar o relacionamento entre os usuários e a marca através da divulgação das ativações de experiência da Chevrolet no Lollapalooza Brasil 2022 no Twitter. Assim, a partir de um recorte de 62 tweets da marca, publicados em entre o dia 23 e 28 de março de 2022, foram coletados e analisados dados qualitativos, com base na técnica de análise do conteúdo, sentimento e humor, procurando investigar como repercutiam a criação do conteúdo por meio de mensagens na rede social. Como resultado foi possível identificar e categorizar algumas das estratégias que a marca utiliza que tiveram reverberação positiva, neutra e negativa. Além disso, como os sentimentos estimulados influenciam no relacionamento marca-usuário. Por exemplo, a insatisfação perante a promoção de uma atividade da Chevrolet; a animação para a apresentação de um artista no palco nominado pela marca; sentimentos negativos perante um conteúdo abordado pela organização; a interação entre usuários de acordo com o experiências vivenciadas durante o festival; e o compartilhamento de opiniões pelos próprios usuários, como forma de divulgar seu sentimento com a marca.This paper consists of a case study about the Twitter users publications regarding Chevrolet's brand activations at Lollapalooza Brazil 2022. To understand these relationship movements between brand and target, initially it was conducted approaches to the theme with the construction of three theoretical chapters. The work presents the communication process until the development of experience marketing in the market and the constitution of the brand as a symbolic representation of an organization (PEROTTO, 2007; KOTLER; KELLER, 2012; KELLER, 2003). The management of strategic events and its adjacent tools are also addressed, such as brand sponsorship and entertainment-oriented experience (GIAGACLIA, 2011; KELLER; MACHADO, 2006; COBRA, 2008). The internet is also developed as a catalyst for changes in market relations and in the adherence to social networks, with a focus on the Twitter network, to understand the brand relationship (TERRA, 2005; CASTELLS, 1999; RECUERO, 2011). The methodology used was exploratory in nature, seeking to analyze the relationship between users and the brand through the dissemination of Chevrolet's experience activations at Lollapalooza Brasil 2022 on Twitter. Thus, from a cut of 62 tweets of the brand, published between March 23 and 28, 2022, qualitative data were collected and analyzed, based on the technique of content analysis, sentiment and humor, seeking to investigate how the creation of content through messages on the social network. As a result it was possible to identify and categorize some of the strategies the brand uses that had positive, neutral and negative reverberation. In addition, how the stimulated feelings influence the brand-user relationship. For example, the dissatisfaction with the promotion of a Chevrolet activity; the excitement for the performance of an artist on stage nominated by the brand; negative feelings towards a content addressed by the organization; the interaction between users according to the experiences during the festival; and the sharing of opinions by the users themselves, as a way to publicize their feelings with the brand

Real-time monitoring of environmental radiation in Tunguska (Siberia)

[1] The results of the environmental radiation (ER) monitoring obtained during the Tunguska expedition of July 1999 with a NaI(Tl) scintillation detector are reported. Some interesting meteorological effects related to the airborne radioactive components (radon and thoron decay products) have been observed. The main effects observed are (1) the doubling of the ER during two quite different rain-out episodes and (2) a fairly regular diurnal wave in the intensity of the total radiation. The rain-out phenomenon allows us to approximate the timescale for the removal by precipitation of radioactivity from the air, while the wave phenomenon gives us the opportunity to develop a simplified model for estimating the time-averaged, dry weather surface radon concentration

As contribuições da disciplina positiva no relacionamento entre pais e filhos: estudo de revisão integrativa da literatura

A Disciplina Positiva é uma prática educativa parental, baseada em dois princípios: gentileza e firmeza, e vem sendo utilizada por muitos pais. Destaca-se que esta Revisão Integrativa de literatura atual teve por objetivo verificar as contribuições da Disciplina Positiva no relacionamento entre pais e filhos. Para definição da amostra de pesquisa deste tema foram utilizados, como critérios de busca, artigos disponíveis nas bases SciELO, CAPES, PePSIC, BV Saúde e LILACS. Os descritores selecionados foram: "disciplina positiva" e "relacionamento familiar” e suas combinações. Para o estudo foram selecionados três artigos elaborados nos últimos 10 anos, em língua portuguesa, espanhola e inglesa. Estes foram lidos, analisados e agrupados por identificação de temáticas. A partir deste trabalho de análise, foi possível estabelecer duas categorias: 1. O impacto da abordagem parental no relacionamento familiar: a importância da Disciplina Positiva e 2. A relação entre as práticas educativas e a saúde emocional da criança. Verificou-se na análise das pesquisas que as práticas educativas parentais, baseadas na Disciplina Positiva, influenciam positivamente no comportamento e no desenvolvimento das habilidades sociais dos filhos, assim como no relacionamento familiar. Conclui- se que pelas evidências dos estudos pode-se sugerir a Disciplina Positiva como uma forma de educação assertiva, com ganho no relacionamento intrafamiliar e com aumento do desenvolvimento das habilidades sócioemocionais da criança. Sugere-se a realização de mais estudos sobre a temática, visto a escassez de materiais que abordam este assunto na língua portuguesa.Positive Discipline is a parental educational practice, based on two principles: kindness and firmness. This Integrative Review of current literature aimed to verify the contributions of Positive Discipline in the relationship between parents and their children. To define the research sample on this topic, articles available in the SciELO, CAPES, PePSIC, BV Saúde and LILACS databases were used as search criteria. The descriptors selected were: "positive discipline" and "family relationship" and their combinations. Three articles from the last 10 years, in Portuguese, Spanish and English were selected for the study. These were read and analyzed. From this analysis, it was possible to establish two categories: 1. The impact of the parental approach on the family relationship: the importance of Positive Discipline and 2. The relationship between educational practices and the child's emotionality. It was found that parenting practices directly influence the behavior and social skills of their children, as well as in the family relationship, positively or negatively. It is concluded that, based on the evidence from the studies, Positive Discipline can be recommended as an effective form of education, with gains in the intra-family relationship and with an increase in the child's socio-emotional skills

After a brief summary of the results obtained upto now by a world wide survey of the Environmental Radiation, we discuss the possibility of operating a compact scintillation NaI(Tl) detector at the Chacaltaya Cosmic Ray Laboratory in order to monitor with continuity the low energy secondary cosmic radiation and radioactivity, airborne and from environment matter

Synthesis and biological evaluation of new 3-amino-2-azetidinone derivatives as anticolorectal cancer agents

Several synthetic combretastatin A4 (CA-4) derivatives were recently prepared to increase the drug efficacy and stability of the natural product isolated from the South African tree Combretum caffrum. A group of ten 3-amino-2-azetidinone derivatives, as combretastatin A4 analogues, was selected through docking experiments, synthesized and tested for their anti-proliferative activity against the colon cancer SW48 cell line. These molecules, through the formation of amide bonds in position 3, allow the synthesis of various derivatives that can modulate the activity with great resistance to hydrolytic conditions. The cyclization to obtain the 3-aminoazetidinone ring is highly diastereoselective and provides a trans biologically active isomer under mild reaction conditions with better yields than the 3-hydroxy-2-azetidinone synthesis. All compounds showed IC50 values ranging between 14.0 and 564.2 nM, and the most active compound showed inhibitory activity against tubulin polymerization in vitro, being a potential therapeutic agent against colon cancer
