OD FENOMENOLOGII DO TOMIZMU? O INTELEKTUALNEJ DRODZE EDYTY STEIN DO ŚWIĘTEGO TOMASZA
The article shows the connection and similarities between Edith Stein and Saint Thomas Aquinas. The main issue of the considerations is: if we can talk about an intellectual way from Edith Stein to Saint Thomas Aquinas? The analysis have shown that Edith Stein was a person who was looking for the Truth in all her life. On this journey to the Truth we can distinguish 3 basic stages: phenomenological, christian and mystical. Saint Thomas plays fundamental role in the second stage. This Jewish thinker translated the work of Aquinas and conformed his way of thinking with Husserl’s phenomenology. The meeting with phenomenology and Thomism resulted in her decision of life in Carmelite order and analysis of mysticism. Droga ta posiada trzy główne fazy: fenomenologiczną, chrześcijańską i mistyczną. Do spotkania ze świętym Tomaszem dochodzi w czasie „fazy chrześcijańskiej”. Żydowską myślicielka tłumaczyła dzieła Akwinaty, porównywał jego system z rozważaniami Husserla i sama twórczo komentowała analizy Doktora Anielskiego. Spotkanie z fenomenologią i tomizmem doprowadziło Edytę Stein do decyzji wstąpienia do klasztoru karmelitańskiego i analiz doświadczenia mistycznego

The article discusses the time and circumstances of creating a well-known seventeenth-century variant of a map of the Duchy of Pomerania together with the map’s cartographic sources and its role in Pomeranian cartography. Until now, the person mentioned on the map as Frid. Palbitzke has not been identified. The article reveals his identity, his role in preparing the map, and the purpose of its making.
Shaping leaf vein pattern by auxin and mechanical feedback
This article comments on:
Kneuper I, Teale W, Dawson JE, Tsugeki R, Katifori E,
Palme K, Ditengou FA. 2021. Auxin biosynthesis and cellular
efflux act together to regulate leaf vein patterning. Journal of
Experimental Botany 72, 1151–1165.
Auxin is an essential factor for the specification of veins in
plant organs. The distribution of auxin in tissues depends
on several physiological processes including auxin biosynthesis
and transport. By using empirical data and theoretical
analysis, Kneuper et al. (2021) explored a role for
these processes in the establishment of leaf vasculature
in Arabidopsis. They propose that the formation of early
vein patterns may essentially be described in terms of
auxin biosynthesis, its transport, and growth-dependent
mechanical feedback from surrounding tissues
Gazebo Plants: Simulating Plant-Robot Interaction with Cosserat Rods
Robotic harvesting has the potential to positively impact agricultural
productivity, reduce costs, improve food quality, enhance sustainability, and
to address labor shortage. In the rapidly advancing field of agricultural
robotics, the necessity of training robots in a virtual environment has become
essential. Generating training data to automatize the underlying computer
vision tasks such as image segmentation, object detection and classification,
also heavily relies on such virtual environments as synthetic data is often
required to overcome the shortage and lack of variety of real data sets.
However, physics engines commonly employed within the robotics community, such
as ODE, Simbody, Bullet, and DART, primarily support motion and collision
interaction of rigid bodies. This inherent limitation hinders experimentation
and progress in handling non-rigid objects such as plants and crops. In this
contribution, we present a plugin for the Gazebo simulation platform based on
Cosserat rods to model plant motion. It enables the simulation of plants and
their interaction with the environment. We demonstrate that, using our plugin,
users can conduct harvesting simulations in Gazebo by simulating a robotic arm
picking fruits and achieve results comparable to real-world experiments.Comment: Upon request, we are happy to share our GazeboPlants plugin

A Method of Lathe Checks Measurement; SMOF device and its software
In the present paper, a novel method for veneer checks measurement and description based on digital image analysis is evaluated. According to this method, the camera is located sideways to the veneer allowing for viewing the checks geometry in the cross-section of the veneer. Checks are opened by bending the veneer on a roller of a specific diameter and they are exposed in such a way that good visibility of checks is assured. The algorithm used reproduces the checks by finding their coarse positions on the rescaled image and then migrating to the original, full resolution image to precisely localize the checks’ bottom. The method is automatic and delivers the most important information on checks of veneer, namely distances between checks and their depths.Contract d'étude Post doctorale CR
Using computer simulations of the flow in the design of cyclone separator for traction systems of compressed air
Większość separatorów cyklonowych stosowanych w kolejnictwie to konstrukcje przemysłowe, jedynie przystosowywane do specyficznych warunków pracy jakimi są warunki trakcyjne, które są znacznie bardziej wymagające. W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono proces projektowania separatora cyklonowego spełniającego wymagania trakcyjnych układów uzdatniania sprężonego powietrza, z wykorzystaniem programu CAD z nakładką CAE do symulacji przepływu.
More of the cyclone separators used in the railway are the industrial constructions, only adapted to the specific working conditions which are the traction conditions being much more demanding. This paper presents the design process of the cyclone separator that meets the requirements of the traction air treatment systems with using a CAD program with the CAE overlay for flow simulation. The project was realized from defining the requirements for traction cyclone separator by the concept of construction and operation to the creation of simulation models. The simulations were carried out for the different configurable elements responsible for the optimal realization of the pollutant separator function. On the basis of simulations for different variants of the structure one of the solutions to implement was chosen. The aim of actions was to build a prototype, to conduct the tests on it, and then to implement the developed solution to the production and to operation in traction systems of the compressed air treatment
