Investigation of the complex dynamics and regime control in Pierce diode with the delay feedback
In this paper the dynamics of Pierce diode with overcritical current under
the influence of delay feedback is investigated. The system without feedback
demonstrates complex behaviour including chaotic regimes. The possibility of
oscillation regime control depending on the delay feedback parameter values is
shown. Also the paper describes construction of a finite-dimensional model of
electron beam behaviour, which is based on the Galerkin approximation by linear
modes expansion. The dynamics of the model is close to the one given by the
distributed model.Comment: 18 pages, 6 figures, published in Int. J. Electronics. 91, 1 (2004)

Compressive properties of min-mod-type limiters in modelling shockwave-containing flows
The long-ignored compressive properties of Min-mod-type limiter is investigated in this manuscript by demonstrating its potential in numerically modelling shockwave-containing flows, especially in shock wave/boundary layer interaction (SWBLI) problems. Theoretical studies were firstly performed based on Swebyâs total variation diminishing (TVD) limiter region and Spekreijseâs monotonicity-preserving limiter region to indicate Min-mod-type limitersâ compressive properties. The influence of limiters on the solution accuracy was evaluated using a hybrid-order analysis method based on the grid-independent study in three typical shockwave-containing flows. The conclusions are that, Min-mod-type limiter can be utilized as a dissipative and/or compressive limiter, but depending on the reasonable value of the compression parameter. The compressive Min-mod limiter tends to be more attractive in modelling shockwave-containing flows as compared to other commonly preferred limiters because of its stable computational process and its high-resolution predictions. However, the compressive Min-mod limiter may suffer from its slightly poor convergence, as that observed in other commonly accepted smooth limiters in modelling SWBLI problems. © 2020, The Author(s)
Study of the reaction e^{+}e^{-} -->J/psi\pi^{+}\pi^{-} via initial-state radiation at BaBar
We study the process with
initial-state-radiation events produced at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy
collider. The data were recorded with the BaBar detector at center-of-mass
energies 10.58 and 10.54 GeV, and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 454
. We investigate the mass
distribution in the region from 3.5 to 5.5 . Below 3.7
the signal dominates, and above 4
there is a significant peak due to the Y(4260). A fit to
the data in the range 3.74 -- 5.50 yields a mass value
(stat) (syst) and a width value (stat)(syst) for this state. We do not
confirm the report from the Belle collaboration of a broad structure at 4.01
. In addition, we investigate the system
which results from Y(4260) decay
Bayesian calibration, validation and uncertainty quantification for predictive modelling of tumour growth: a tutorial
In this work we present a pedagogical tumour growth example, in which we apply calibration and validation techniques to an uncertain, Gompertzian model of tumour spheroid growth. The key contribution of this article is the discussion and application of these methods (that are not commonly employed in the field of cancer modelling) in the context of a simple model, whose deterministic analogue is widely known within the community. In the course of the example we calibrate the model against experimental data that is subject to measurement errors, and then validate the resulting uncertain model predictions. We then analyse the sensitivity of the model predictions to the underlying measurement model. Finally, we propose an elementary learning approach for tuning a threshold parameter in the validation procedure in order to maximize predictive accuracy of our validated model
