Bloodbath Posed by Husband - a Case Report

    Get PDF
Background: The corpse of a newly married woman was brought for the postmortem examination. It was having multiple stabs over the neck and chest. Incised wounds were there over the chest and both wrists, cutting the radial artery of either side. Total numbers of injuries were 107, comprising few injuries of post mortem nature.Case Report: The case report highlighted the challenges for an autopsy surgeon in extricating, noting and describing such an exhaustive number of injuries with its corresponding internal injuries. Collecting and preserving the pertinent evidences out of the corpse would be the next challenge. Further, spotting out discrepancy with the number of injuries of an inquest report will remain as an additional task. Subsequently an autopsy surgeon also has to face griming questions in the Court of Law, as an expert witness. Conclusion: This case report described the history in detail and explicated all the eventual solutions for autopsy surgeon.

Dielectric study of Syzygium cumini Lin. at 9.85 GHz frequency.

The values of dielectric constant ( ), dielectric loss (), relaxation time (ï´p), conductivity (ï³p) and moisture content of pulverized Syzygium cumini Lin. were measured for different packing densities at 9.85 GHz  microwave frequency and different temperature  (20ï‚°c, 35ï‚°c and 50ï‚°c).  Experimental results on powders of different packing fractions (ï¤r) were used to obtain transformation to 100% solid bulk using correlation formulae of Landau- Lifshitz-Looyenga and Bottcher.  There is fair agreement between the calculated values of dielectric parameters and the values obtained experimentally for solid bulk.  This shows cohesion in the particles of spicy products under investigation

Evaluating immersive teleoperation interfaces: coordinating robot radiation monitoring tasks in nuclear facilities

    Get PDF
We present a virtual reality (VR) teleoperation interface for a ground-based robot, featuring dense 3D environment reconstruction and a low latency video stream, with which operators can immersively explore remote environments. At the UK Atomic Energy Authority's (UKAEA) Remote Applications in Challenging Environments (RACE) facility, we applied the interface in a user study where trained robotics operators completed simulated nuclear monitoring and decommissioning style tasks to compare VR and traditional teleoperation interface designs. We found that operators in the VR condition took longer to complete the experiment, had reduced collisions, and rated the generated 3D map with higher importance when compared to non-VR operators. Additional physiological data suggested that VR operators had a lower objective cognitive workload during the experiment but also experienced increased physical demand. Overall the presented results show that VR interfaces may benefit work patterns in teleoperation tasks within the nuclear industry, but further work is needed to investigate how such interfaces can be integrated into real world decommissioning workflows

A REVIEW: RAPID PROTOTYPING TECHNIQUES FOR DESIGNING AND MANUFACTURING OF CUSTOMIZED ANATOMICAL IMPLANTS

    Get PDF
ABSTRACT Rapid prototyping (RP) technologies are mostly related with applications in the product development and the design process as well as with small batch manufacturing. Due to their comparatively high rapidity and flexibility, however, they have also been engaged in various nonmanufacturing applications. A field that attracts increasingly more attention by the scientific community is related to the application of technologies in medicine and health care. The associated research is focused both on the development of specifically customized or new methods and systems based on principles, as well as on the applications of existing systems assisting health care services. In this paper, representative case studies and research efforts from the field of medical applications are presented and discussed in detail. The case studies included cover applications like the fabrication of custom implants and scaffolds for rehabilitation, models for pre-operating surgical planning, anatomical models for the mechanical testing and investigation of human bones or of new medical techniques, drug delivery devices fabrication, as well as the development of new techniques specifically designed for medical applications

Effect of Ethrel® on Flowering, Sex-Expression and Yield in Cashew

    Get PDF
A field trial was conducted at Regional Fruit Research Station, Vengurle, Dist. Sindhudurg, (Maharashtra) to assess the efficacy of Ethrel® in relation to flowering behavior and yield enhancement in cashew on seven year old Cashew trees of Vengurle -7 variety during 2008-09. Three sprays of Ethrel® @ 100 ppm, 200 ppm and 400 ppm along with water spray were given before flushing, after flushing and during fruit-set. Control consisted of no. spray. Among treatments, Ethrel® @ 100 ppm significantly increased number of flowering panicles m-2 (12.0), number of perfect flowers per panicle (52.8), fruit-set m-2 (28.8), number of nuts per panicle (2.9) and yield tree-1 ( 1.51 kg tree-1) than control and water spray. Thus, lower concentration of Ethrel® had a beneficial effect on cashew

    Get PDF
In our project we are building an underwater acoustic modem with the ultrasonic transducer. Modulation used for modem is ASK and FSK. Message from transmitter can be displayed in visual format. Different simulator tools are used to analyze message. In this paper we compare results with ASK and FSK modem. This paper presents the design considerations, implementation details, and initial experimental results of our modem

Yb(OTf)3 Catalyzed Synthesis, Antimicrobial and Insecticidal activity of some Biscoumarins

    Get PDF
Published ArticleIn the present study, we report Yb(OTf)3 catalyzed synthesis of biscoumarins by pseudo three-component reaction of aldehyde and 4-hydroxycoumarin. The synthesized biscoumarins were evaluated for antimicrobial and insecticidal activity. Results of antimicrobial activity were found to be moderate to good in terms of zones of inhibition and MIC values against E. coli, P. vulgaris and S. aureus. The compounds were inactive against the used fungal strains except B4 in case of Penicillium. Insecticidal activity of the biscoumarins B-1, B-3, B-5 and B-11 was found to be good exhibiting 70-75% mortality effect on Callosobruchus maculatus

Automatic Sequential to Parallel Code Conversion

    Get PDF
The way software programs are being written has been redefined since the introduction of multicore processors. Software developers have started writing parallel programs that are robust and scalable. This would ensure use of processor power being made available in the form of multiple cores. Though this trend is increasing, there are legacy applications that have been developed over the past few decades. Most of these applications are inherently sequential making no use of multithreading or parallel programming. If such applications are ported to execute on the multicore hardware as they are then optimal usage of all cores is not guaranteed. Such applications would ideally utilize only one core and the other cores would remain idle, unless the operating system supports some parallelism while scheduling. Hence there is a need to convert such legacy sequential codes to their parallel versions so that multicore hardware is exploited to the fullest. In this paper we present a tool that we have developed to automatically convert a sequential C code to parallel code. This Sequential to Parallel (S2P) tool is still in the development phase. We also discuss other parallelization tools available today, compare such tools with S2P tool and present our performance analysis results on different kind of multicore hardware
