A Conservative Approach to the Management of a Dental Trauma for Immediate Natural Esthetics

Introduction: The fracture of front teeth is one of the routine presentations of traumatic injuries. The treatment of a fractured tooth involving the pulp includes root canal therapy and post placement followed by core build-up or by the extraction of the fractured tooth if it is not restorable. Case Presentation: We report a case of an adult male who had traumatized both his maxillary central incisors following a blow experienced during domestic violence. He had lost a fractured fragment of the right central incisor, while the left incisor had complicated fractures with fragments retained attached to the soft tissue. Following radiovisiography (RVG), both incisors were conservatively treated in a single visit by reattachment and post and core techniques. Conclusions: The treatment reported for reattachment of the tooth fractures and post and core techniques are reasonably easy while providing immediate and lasting results in patients’ regaining of social confidence and functionality

Background: Of all the ligaments of the knee joint the Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is the most commonly injured. It is an important pillar of the ligament stabilization of knee joint preventing anterior translation of Tibia over Fibula. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is an excellent modality providing fine-resolution and multiplanar imaging without any radiation, for detection and evaluation of ACL injury with the associated injuries to other ligaments of the knee join. The purpose of the work was to study the role of MRI in classifying the ACL injuries. Methods: MRI Knee of 162 patients with ACL injuries was studied. All the MR imaging scans were performed on 1.5-T MR system (Siemens magnetom Essenza). Results: A total of 162 patients were studied in which majority of them i.e. 43 patients had interstitial sprain, 38 patients had complete tear, 33 patients had mucoid degeneration, 27 had partial tear and 14 had high grade partial tear, however 7 patients had normal ACL. There were associated injuries to the other ligaments of the knee joint along with ACL injury, medial meniscus tear being the most common and was seen in 39.50% followed by lateral meniscus tear in 9.87%, MCL tear in 6.79%, LCL tear in 1.85% and PCL tear in 2.46 %.Conclusions: MRI is a good modality for classifying ACL injury and evaluation of injuries to the associated ligaments

Abstract Corona virus or severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a virus that can cause mild disorders of the respiratory system, severe lung infections, and death. The large number of confirmed cases is positive, giving special attention to groups that are vulnerable to infection such as groups with immunodeficiency, one of which is the group of people with HIV. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of presenting online COVID-19 education to increase knowledge, attitudes and practices to prevent COVID-19 in the Peer Support Group (KDS) Top Support Pelita Ilmu Foundation (YPI) located in Jakarta. This study used a qualitative method. Target of interventions are mentors and peer educators. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, self-administered questionnaire and report. The data analysis technique was carried out with three main activities, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data was carried out by means of credibility through the triangulation of sources and methods. The results showed that providing COVID-19 education online by involving mentoring and empowering peer educators was effective in increasing knowledge about the COVID-19 prevention protocol. Providing online educational assistance through a peer educator approach is useful as a chain message to oneself, family, community and peers. People who are educated are becoming more diligent in implementing 3M and healthy lifestyles, but to know this behavior change consistently, further research is needed.

Multi-Year Application of Dairy Slurry on Grassland: Effects on Crop, Soil Biota, Soil Nutrients, and N\u3csub\u3e2\u3c/sub\u3eO Emission

The long-term effects of using manure as the principal nutrient source in intensive crop production systems are not well known. This paper reports on the effects of multi-year application of fertilizer or dairy slurry on a tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea Schreb.) sward. Slurry sustained greater grass yield than chemical fertilizer. Unlike fertilizer, slurry supplied 70 to 120 kg N/ha one year after application but little after one year; 4-years of manure applications built up the stable organic matter pool in the soil. Manure-N was less prone to leaching but more prone to N2O emissions than fertilizer-N. Manured soils had considerably more biological activity than fertilized soils. High rates of manure application increased soil P

Rice allelopathy in weed management : an integrated approach

    Get PDF
The intensive use of pesticides with low biodegradability and high persistence in soil, surface and ground waters, represents a considerable environmental risk, especially under high weed pressure conditions. Furthermore, the number of herbicide-resistant weeds is increasing. Against this background, the investigation of alternative weed control strategies has taken on considerable importance. Among these, allelopathy as a negative effect of one plant on another due to the direct or indirect (including microorganisms) release of chemicals in the environment can be a useful tool for the integrated management of weeds in agroecosystems. In particular, the paddies have been considered in this work by reviewing the data both on rice allelopathy and rice weed agronomic control methods developed to improve the crop yield

Reported exposure to SARS-CoV-2 and relative perceived importance of different settings for SARS-CoV-2 acquisition in England and Wales: Analysis of the Virus Watch Community Cohort [version 1; peer review: awaiting peer review]

We aimed to assess the relative importance of different settings for SARS-CoV-2 transmission in a large community cohort based on perceived location of infection for self-reported confirmed SARS-COV-2 cases. We demonstrate the importance of home, work and education as perceived venues for transmission. In children, education was most important and in older adults essential shopping was of high importance. Our findings support public health messaging about infection control at home, advice on working from home and restrictions in different venues
