Copyright @ The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics 2012.Background and Aim: The physical asymmetries associated with a prosthesis raises the question of validity of the Sensory Organization Test (SOT) measures (equilibrium score (ES) and strategy score (SS)) in lower limb amputees. This study explores the validity of these measures in transtibial amputees by correlating with their corresponding centre of pressure (COP) excursion/velocity measures. Technique: Fifteen transtibial amputees (69.5 ± 6.5 years) completed three trials for each of the six SOT conditions. Discussion: The Spearman’s rank correlation coefficients between ESs and global COP excursion/velocity measures ranged from 0.52 to 0.71 for Conditions 1, 4 and 5, 0.79 to 0.85 for Conditions 2 and 3, and 0.39 to 0.43 for Condition 6. The coefficients for SSs ranged between 0.78 and 0.97 for Conditions 1 to 5 and 0.55 to 0.67 for Condition 6. The corresponding sound and prosthetic side COP variables demonstrated varying strengths of association with ES and SS. Clinical relevance Of the two clinical measures examined, the SSs are strongly reflective of COP excursion/velocity measures and these findings have application in the interpretation of SOT when evaluating balance in transtibial amputees.New Zealand Artificial Limb Boar

Impact of self-correction on extrovert and introvert students in EFL writing progress

Personality is one of the individual differences which is broadly established to have an outcome on learning generally and second language acquisition especially. It sounds that personality traits have types of result on the learners' language learning. In addition, many research projects have shown that corrective feedback in the classroom situation is a real need. Little research has been achieved to discover if definite error correction techniques are more effective with regard to the different personality traits of the language learners. Consequently, 120 female pre-intermediate EFL students will be selected as the participants of the research. They will be assigned to four different groups-two groups include extroverts and two groups include introverts. Subsequently, they will be given five expository topics to write about in a five-week period. While two groups-one extroverted and one introverted will enjoy self-correction, the teacher will correct the writings of the other two groups

Nowadays water bodies across the world are heavily polluted due to uncontrollable contamination of heavy metal particles, toxic dyes, and other harmful wastes discharged by emerging industries other than normal domestic wastages. This contamination needs sufficient control to protect the natural water bodies. There are various methodologies to be followed to perform wastewater treatment, in which the adsorption method of filtration is found to be efficient. The adsorption method is a high priority and preferable filtration method compared to other waste water treatment methods due to its peculiar characteristics. Considering the adsorption method, there are multiple options available in selecting material and methodology for the filtration process. In selecting the filtering material, there is much attraction towards graphene and its oxides, which have widespread range of differential applications in commercial industries because of their eco-friendly characteristic features. The importance of various graphene composites and their chemical properties is found to be significant in various fields. Analyzing the adsorbing properties of graphene widely, this article deeply reviews about the improvements and the technologies identified for using graphene and (GO) graphene oxide in wastewater treatment taken into discussion elaborately. Therefore, in this hard review, the advantages and demerits of using graphene for wastewater treatment as well as improving its properties to make it more suitable for wastewater treatment are detailed
