Teaching for wisdom in modern early education

    Get PDF
Teaching for wisdom (especially at the early educational stages) requires personal competence by the teacher, interesting teaching aids and modern, motivating techniques that stimulate and develop the child’s potential abilities and competences related to general and practical intelligence and creativity. In early education, an especially needed type of children’s/students’ activity is that which leads to the direct experiencing of the surrounding cultural, natural, technical and social reality. Such activity is undertaken by individuals through internal emotional involvement, which leads to experiencing values in an in-depth way, supporting development and gaining all kinds of practical experience, which in turn fosters maturity towards wisdom. The environment where Teaching for wisdom should be deliberately organized is school (preschool). Factual knowledge and the methodical competences of teachers can support the organization of educational situations that allow children/students to experience values and wisdom, develop their potential cognitive abilities, gain experience in the interpretation and evaluation of wise/unwise behavior, and develop the habits of wise behavior. These situations should be a source of getting students ready to use wisdom in life and to shape their value systems. The proposal of a detailed competence scope for the notion of wisdom is presented in the this article

Refleksyjność dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym podczas aktywności twórczej – przykłady z badań własnych

    Get PDF
The complexity of the modern world more and more often requires competences related to wisdom thinking, including the ability of reflective thinking. Reflectivity allows us to take a closer look at the problems and phenomena we encounter, and thus to make decisions based on the analysis of own and environmental conditions as well as to identify the expected and possible effects of a given action. This promotes anticipation of threats and planning how to counteract them, therefore, the identification and development of reflective thinking are already needed in childhood. Analyses of conditions conducive to reflectivity and its development are rare in contemporary pedagogical literature, which is why the author invokes basic knowledge on the subject in this article and then gives examples of preschool-aged children’s reflective thinking identified in her own research.Złożoność współczesnego świata coraz częściej wymaga kompetencji związanych z myśleniem mądrościowym, w tym zdolności do myślenia refleksyjnego. Analizy warunków sprzyjających refleksyjności i jej rozwijaniu są rzadkie we współczesnej literaturze pedagogicznej, dlatego autorka przypomina podstawowe treści związane z refleksyjnością, a następnie podaje przykłady myślenia refleksyjnego dzieci w wieku przedszkolnym wyłonione w badaniach własnych

Opportunities and Limitations for MICE Tourism Development in Łódź

    Get PDF
Business tourism plays an important role in the tourism industry of Łódź. However, compared to other Polish cities relatively few MICE meetings are organised there. The purpose of this article is therefore to analyse the opportunities and limitations for MICE tourism development in Łódź compared to the city’s potential. The accommodation services, congress locations, accessibility by different means of transportation, and its image are the factors considered in the analysis. The results indicate the most important strategic actions that are recommended in order to improve the situation of business tourism in Łódź

Critical frequency in nuclear chiral rotation

    Get PDF
Within the cranked Skyrme-Hartree-Fock approach the self-consistent solutions have been obtained for planar and chiral rotational bands in 132La. It turns out that the chiral band cannot exist below some critical rotational frequency which in the present case equals omega=0.6MeV. The appearance of the critical frequency is explained in terms of a simple classical model of two gyroscopes coupled to a triaxial rigid body.Comment: 4 RevTeX pages, 6 EPS figure

Graphical Framework for Grid Interactive and Parallel Applications

    Get PDF
Considering how complex Grid technology is, it is essential to provide adequate support on users' level in order to simplify interaction and attract users. Intuitive and easy-to-use graphical user interfaces could be critical for the usefulness of the whole infrastructure and may play a significant role within successful stories. We would like to present the int.eu.grid approach to a Migrating Desktop product providing a unified and intuitive graphical work environment that allows users to control sophisticated interactive services, access Grid resources, run sequential and parallel jobs -- using both batch and interactive paradigms. The Migrating Desktop provides a front-end for embedding some of the application mechanisms and interfaces, and it allows the user to have virtual access to Grid resources. Generic API for applications based on the OSGi specification provides mechanisms for the job submission phase, interaction with an application and remote visualization of the results which assemble the powerful platform for the Grid environment

Die Qualität von governance in Polen

    Get PDF

Phenology of non-biting midges (Diptera Chironomidae) in peatland ponds, Central Poland

Non-biting midges are one of the most diverse and abundant aquatic insects in peatlands. The Rąbień mire is a raised bog located on the edge of the Lodz Agglomeration in Central Poland. After peat extraction, many ponds remained in the Rąbień area. During the growing season in 2012, adult chironomids were collected by a light trap and a hand net near one of the excavation ponds. The phenology of adult flight period was documented from April to November. Thirty-one species were recorded and assigned to one of five phenology groups. Three parameters reflecting duration of daytime and weather conditions, i.e. air temperature, air humidity, were found to covary significantly with the observed flight periods. Taxa emerging in the spring may be classified as cold-adapted and those collected in the summer only as preferring higher air temperature. Emergence in late summer was related to a shorter duration of daytime
