Confinement orientation effects in S/D tunneling
The most extensive research of scaled electronic devices involves the inclusion of quantum effects in the transport direction as transistor dimensions approach nanometer scales. Moreover, it is necessary to study how these mechanisms affect different transistor architectures to determine which one can be the best candidate to implement future nodes. This work implements Source-to-Drain Tunneling mechanism (S/D tunneling) in a Multi-Subband Ensemble Monte Carlo (MS-EMC) simulator showing the modification in the distribution of the electrons in the subbands, and, consequently, in the potential profile due to different confinement direction between DGSOIs and FinFETs.Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (TEC2014-59730-R), H2020 - REMINDER (687931), and H2020 - WAYTOGO-FAST (662175
Arrested dynamics of the dipolar hard-sphere model
We report the combined results of molecular dynamics simulations and
theoretical calculations concerning various dynamical arrest transitions in a
model system representing a dipolar fluid, namely, N (softcore) rigid spheres
interacting through a truncated dipole-dipole potential. By exploring different
regimes of concentration and temperature, we find three distinct scenarios for
the slowing down of the dynamics of the translational and orientational degrees
of freedom: At low ({} = 0.2) and intermediate ( = 0.4) volume
fractions, both dynamics are strongly coupled and become simultaneously
arrested upon cooling. At high concentrations ({} 0.6), the
translational dynamics shows the features of an ordinary glass transition,
either by compressing or cooling down the system, but with the orientations
remaining ergodic, thus indicating the existence of partially arrested states.
In this density regime, but at lower temperatures, the relaxation of the
orientational dynamics also freezes. The physical scenario provided by the
simulations is discussed and compared against results obtained with the
self-consistent generalized Langevin equation theory, and both provide a
consistent description of the dynamical arrest transitions in the system. Our
results are summarized in an arrested states diagram which qualitatively
organizes the simulation data and provides a generic picture of the glass
transitions of a dipolar fluid
Study of the thermal behavior of the aluminium dust stabilized with gypsum
[EN]The aluminium dust is a hazardous waste from the secondary aluminium remelting industry.
A stabilization/solidification process was developed at CENIM with the aim of decreasing
its reactivity. Gypsum was used as a binder material. Tliis work summarizes the study of the
thermal behavior of the aluminium dust stabilized with gypsum, in order to establish the
influence of the residue in the reactions of hydration/dehydration of the gypsum during the
hardening process, namely: partial dehydration of calcium sulphate dihydrate, dehydration
of calcium sulphate hemi'hydrate, dehydration of aluminium hydroxide and anhydrite
soluble/anhydrite insoluble transformation. The activation energy associated to all those
reactions was determined by Differential Scanning Calorimetry.

A thorough study of Si nanowire FETs with 3D Multi-Subband Ensemble Monte Carlo simulations
We thoroughly compare the DC electrical behavior of n-MOS transistors based on Si nanowires with 〈 1 0 0 〉 and 〈 1 1 0 〉 channel orientations by means of Multi-Subband Ensemble Monte Carlo simulations. We find that the drain current depends on the nanowire diameter and it is slightly, but consistently, larger for 〈 1 0 0 〉 than for 〈 1 1 0 〉 nanowires. The observed differences in mobility, velocity and spatial charge distribution are interpreted in terms of the effective masses and populations of the different Si conduction band valleys, whose sixfold degeneracy is lifted by quantum confinement in narrow nanowires. Finally, we study the scaling behavior for channel lengths down to 8 nm, concluding that the differences observed between orientations are minimal
