Government leaders have not been successful in their strategies for developing a pipeline of African American college students to address the absence of African American representation in civil service management positions. The civil service’s pipeline of African American college graduates is insufficient for demand. The purpose of this qualitative modified Delphi study was to build consensus among a nationwide expert panel of government-affiliated talent managers regarding a grand strategy for creating a sustainable civil service pipeline of annual graduating classes of African American collegians. The panelists’ generated six solutions, which represented the grand strategy for this civil service pipeline

Applications of aerospace technology to petroleum extraction and reservoir engineering

Through contacts with the petroleum industry, the petroleum service industry, universities and government agencies, important petroleum extraction problems were identified. For each problem, areas of aerospace technology that might aid in its solution were also identified, where possible. Some of the problems were selected for further consideration. Work on these problems led to the formulation of specific concepts as candidate for development. Each concept is addressed to the solution of specific extraction problems and makes use of specific areas of aerospace technology

Effects of increasing zinc oxide on starter pig growth performance

Phylogenetic evidence from freshwater crayfishes that cave adaptation is not an evolutionary dead-end.

Caves are perceived as isolated, extreme habitats with a uniquely specialized biota, which long ago led to the idea that caves are evolutionary dead-ends. This implies that cave-adapted taxa may be doomed for extinction before they can diversify or transition to a more stable state. However, this hypothesis has not been explicitly tested in a phylogenetic framework with multiple independently evolved cave-dwelling groups. Here, we use the freshwater crayfish, a group with dozens of cave-dwelling species in multiple lineages, as a system to test this hypothesis. We consider historical patterns of lineage diversification and habitat transition as well as current patterns of geographic range size. We find that while cave-dwelling lineages have small relative range sizes and rarely transition back to the surface, they exhibit remarkably similar diversification patterns to those of other habitat types and appear to be able to maintain a diversity of lineages through time. This suggests that cave adaptation is not a dead-end for freshwater crayfish, which has positive implications for our understanding of biodiversity and conservation in cave habitats

The effects of substituting spray-dried whole egg from egg grading plants for spray-dried plasma protein in phase I diets
