Preparation and characterisation of irradiated waste eggshells as oil adsorbent
Adsorption method had been developed by using natural organic adsorbent for the
removal of oil because of its ability to bind the oil molecules into the surface of adsorbent. In
this study, chicken eggshells waste was used and it undergoes irradiation process with four
different amount of dose which was 0.5 kGy, 1.0 kGy, 1.5 kGy, and 2.0 kGy by using Gamma
Cell Irradiator. Three equipment had been used for the characterization process which were the
Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and
Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). The adsorption experiment was conducted
to calculate the sorption efficiency by using different mass of samples. The result showed that
irradiated chicken eggshells powder with 2.0 kGy amount of radiation dose has a best
performance as oil adsorbent
A hybrid GA–PS–SQP method to solve power system valve-point economic dispatch problems
This study presents a new approach based on a hybrid algorithm consisting of Genetic Algorithm (GA), Pattern Search (PS) and Sequential Quadratic Programming (SQP) techniques to solve the well-known power system Economic dispatch problem (ED). GA is the main optimizer of the algorithm, whereas PS and SQP are used to fine tune the results of GA to increase confidence in the solution. For illustrative purposes, the algorithm has been applied to various test systems to assess its effectiveness. Furthermore, convergence characteristics and robustness of the proposed method have been explored through comparison with results reported in literature. The outcome is very encouraging and suggests that the hybrid GA–PS–SQP algorithm is very efficient in solving power system economic dispatch problem
Potential dopant in photocatalysis process for wastewater treatment-a review
Nowadays, too much pollution has happened around us, and one of them is water
pollution, which each day has become more severe and worse. One of the sources of water
pollution comes from the industry that has used dyes either excessively or not. In case of that,
the wastewater needs to be treated before released to the river or environment. In this paper, a
review of the wastewater treatment using dopants such as nitrogen and magnesium, will be
discussed
The Impact of Some Economic Factors on Imports in Jordan
The purpose of this paper is to build a multiple linear econometrics model which reveals impact of some important economic factors on Jordanian imports. Different models have been modified to get the best model in estimating and predicting imports. The major findings of the paper were that imports in Jordan are dominated by Consumer Price Index (CPI), Remittance (REM), Relative Prices RP) and Exchange Rate(ER) respectively. ER has a small coefficient compared to other predictors. CPI actually contributes more to the model because it has a larger standardized coefficient.
Inferior canaliculi punctal granuloma of the lacrimal system: a case report
Pyogenic granuloma of the eyes usually occurs after ocular surgery or inflammation related to the eyes, itself. This lesion is commonly related to procedures associated with chalazia, strabismus, or even enucleation. However, the incidence of pyogenic granuloma that arises directly from the lower canaliculi of the nasolacrimal system is rare and not being extensively reported. We report a case of an elderly lady who presented with pyogenic granuloma post EDCR with silicone stenting for left nasolacrimal duct obstruction. She presented with persistent left eye epiphora following procedure. The unusual site for pyogenic granuloma and it occurrence after EDCR raise the possibility that the condition is related to previous procedure and the material being used
Disaster Management in Malaysia: An Application Framework of Integrated Routing Application for Emergency Response Management System
Malaysia has experienced various disasters either natural or manmade disaster. One of the critical phases in Disaster Management System life cycle is response phase. In this phase, connectivity analysis such as a navigation service to
help emergency rescue (ER) units reach at disaster area on time is necessary. Nowadays, commercial navigation system
seems not appropriate to be used by ER units as they have
different preferences. In addition, location information that is vital was not fully utilized in disaster management, especially in doing multi-task analysis. Thus, the real potential of GIS technology in managing spatial data including real-time (moving objects) data of ER units may influence the quality of the service. However, the services should be supported by a good data model. In order to eliminate inappropriate information, incomplete data, and overloaded information from Database Management System (DBMS) sent to the user, this paper will present the framework of integrated routing application for emergency response units embedded with context-aware
Novel Framework for Hidden Data in the Image Page within Executable File Using Computation between Advanced Encryption Standard and Distortion Techniques
The hurried development of multimedia and internet allows for wide
distribution of digital media data. It becomes much easier to edit, modify and
duplicate digital information. In additional, digital document is also easy to
copy and distribute, therefore it may face many threats. It became necessary to
find an appropriate protection due to the significance, accuracy and
sensitivity of the information. Furthermore, there is no formal method to be
followed to discover a hidden data. In this paper, a new information hiding
framework is presented. The proposed framework aim is implementation of
framework computation between advance encryption standard (AES) and distortion
technique (DT) which embeds information in image page within executable file
(EXE file) to find a secure solution to cover file without change the size of
cover file. The framework includes two main functions; first is the hiding of
the information in the image page of EXE file, through the execution of four
process (specify the cover file, specify the information file, encryption of
the information, and hiding the information) and the second function is the
extraction of the hiding information through three process (specify the stego
file, extract the information, and decryption of the information).Comment: 6 Pages IEEE Format, International Journal of Computer Science and

Neuro-fuzzy systems approach to infill missing rainfall data for Klang River Catchment, Malaysia
Rainfall data can be regarded as the most essential input for various applications in hydrological sciences. Continuous rainfall data with adequate length is the main requirement to solve complex hydrological problems. Mostly in developing countries hydrologists are still facing problems of missing rainfall data with inadequate length. Researchers have been applying a number of statistical and data driven approaches to overcome this insufficiency. This study is an application of neuro-fuzzy system to infill the missing rainfall data for Klang River catchment. Pettitt test, standard normal homogeneity test (SNHT) and Von Neumann Ratio (VNR) tests were performed to check the homogeneity of rainfall data. The neuro-fuzzy model performances were assessed both in calibration and validation stages based on statistical measures such as coefficient of determination (R2), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Error (MAE). To evaluate the performance of the neuro-fuzzy system model, it was compared with a traditional modeling technique known as autoregressive model with exogenous inputs (ARX). The neuro-fuzzy system model gave better performances in both stages for the best input combinations. The missing rainfall data was predicted using the input combination with best performances. The results of this study showed the effectiveness of the neuro-fuzzy systems and it is recommended as a prominent tool for filling the missing data
The effect of network’s size on the performance of the gateway discovery and selection scheme for MANEMO
In the era of Internet technology, new applications are developed everyday requiring continuous
and seamless connections. This urges for access availability solutions to the new scenarios. One of the
critical architecture is the Mobile Ad-Hoc Network Mobility (MANEMO). However, the integration of Ad-hoc
and NEMO technologies came out with many complications like redundant tunnels and the existence of
multiple Exit Routers. This paper presents a scheme to discover and select the optimum gateway to
improve the robustness and the performance of the network irrespective of the used routing protocol. The
MANEMO Gateway discovery and selection scheme (MGDSS) extends the Tree Discovery Protocol and
the Neighborhood Discovery protocol used by NEMO and Ad-Hoc to carry the necessary gateway
selection parameters. To compare the effect of network’s size on the performance of the proposed
scheme, the standard NEMO BSP and the Multi-homed MANEMO (M-MANEMO) approaches OPNET
Modeler 14.5 was used. The results show that the average data packets dropped, the end-to-end delay
and the throughput of the proposed MGDSS outperform those for the standard M-MANEMO and standard
NEMO BSP.
