Telmatophilus Heer, 1841 (Coleoptera: Cryptophagidae) of western Palaearctic region

    Get PDF
Three species of Telmatophilus Heer, 1841 in the Western Palaearctic Region are revised. Basing on studies of the types of the species, Telmatophilus brevicollis Aubé, 1862, T. caricis (Olivier, 1790) and T. typhae (Fallén, 1802) are redescribed. Two new synonymies are established: Cryptophagus sparganii Ahrens, 1812 = Telmatophilus caricis (Olivier, 1790) and Cryptophagus schonherrii Gyllenhal, 1808 = Telmatophilus typhae (Fallén, 1802). Species are redefined according to their morphology, including that of the genitalia. A key of the studied species is included

A study on the genus Micrambe Thomson, 1863 (Coleoptera, Cryptophagidae) from Madagascar and Réunion is presented. Six species are hitherto known from these countries: M. apicalis Grouvelle, M. brevitarsis Bruce, M. consors Grouvelle, M. madagascariensis Grouvelle, M. modesta (Grouvelle), and M. reuninensis Lyubarsky. A new species, M. leonardoi sp. n., is formally described from Boorg-Murat, Réunion Island. A key is presented to enable their identification. Micrambe consors Grouvelle previously known only from Congo is reported here for the first time from MadagascarS

A new species of Micrambe Thomson, 1863 (Coleoptera, Cryptophagidae), Micrambe camerunensis sp. n. from Cameroon is described and illustrated. No other record of any Cryptophagidae of Cameroon is known. The differential diagnosis is established in relation to a group of other species of the genusS

Faunistic notes on Cryptophagidae and Latridiidae of Talassemtane National Park, Western Rif, Morocco, with the description of a new species (Coleoptera, Cucujoidea)

In order to contribute to the knowledge of beetles (Coleoptera) of the mountainous region of Morocco, Talassemtane National Park (Western Rif, Chefchaouen district, Morocco) was surveyed. This is an exceptional protected area of the Mediterranean Intercontinental Biosphere Reserve (RIBM). The checklist was made using different traps combined with active periodical searches during 2013–2015. A total of 153 beetles belonging to 19 species from four subfamilies (Cryptophagidae: Cryptophaginae and Atomariinae; Latridiidae: Latridiinae and Corticariinae) was collected. Dienerella (Cartoderema) talassemata, a new species (Coleoptera: Latridiidae) was compared to other morphologically related species. One species is recorded for the first time for North Africa; three species are new records for Morocco. In addition, amongst the species listed, three are endemic to Morocco: Dienerella talassemtana sp. n., Caenoscelis humifera and Dienerella besucheti

A Review of Conceptual Change Research in Science Education

    Get PDF
This article describes research done on conceptual change as published in four of the better-known science education journals during a 20-year period, from 1981 to 2001.The present review was focused at identifying three characteristics of that research: a)temporal distribution, b) research topics, and c) methodology: experimental designs and validity. The results show that much research work was carried out, although essential elements of Conceptual Change remained unclear. With respect to the meth-odology, we have evidenced scarce replication of previous studies, and an important number of studies that fall short of desirable validity level
