[EN] The main objective of the work is the study of the graphic expression used during the first decades of the 20th century by Luis Albert Ballesteros. Detail the way in which he represented and defined each of his projects and compare it with the current resources in order to be able to observe the evolution of architecture and its representations. In order to obtain this objective it is necessary to study articles, bibliography and data from the time that will be the database from where the research will begin. A series of plans will be compiled by Albert himself and from them will be generated with the use of computer means, an adaptation to the present. The work will consist of two major phases. A first phase of setting both temporally and spatially from which to depart, which will establish the guidelines of the movement both nationally and internationally and the fundamental characteristics that will govern rationalist architectures. Later will be incurred in the figure of Luis Albert, realizing a brief biography and a small exhibition of several his works of this movement in the city. In the second phase will choose a building to analyze, which is the Main Theater of Valencia, on which there will be a survey of plans at different levels on which current techniques of graphic expression will be applied. Once this survey is completed, the results will be compared following established parameters. To conclude the work, a brief conclusion will be made on how graphic expression has evolved over the last 70 years and how technology has opened up a palette of skills that help architects to approach a more realistic graphic expression.Tadeo Ortiz, H. Inclusive education constitutes a point of inclination in policy development and care practices to student populations and social diversity. There are goals and strategies in the Mexican educational system which demonstrate the government’s interest to promote equity and equality opportunities for the entire vulnerable population. These policies are based on the need to recognize the right of people with special educational needs to quality education. Consequently, one of the goals of Plan Nacional de Desarrollo 2019-2024, it is a social policy which has actions to offer education for the entire population and sustainable development. Therefore, El Tecnológico Nacional de México contributes with a cross-cutting strategy to the evolution with inclusion, total equality and sustainable development through inclusive education. In this understanding, the purpose of this project is to design an action plan which allows to change a conventional teaching classroom to an inclusive teaching classroom in order to attend people with special educational needs belonging to priority groups of Tecnológico Nacional de México

Synergistic Antimicrobial Effects of Silver/Transition-metal Combinatorial Treatments

Due to the emergence of multi-drug resistant strains, development of novel antibiotics has become a critical issue. One promising approach is the use of transition metals, since they exhibit rapid and significant toxicity, at low concentrations, in prokaryotic cells. Nevertheless, one main drawback of transition metals is their toxicity in eukaryotic cells. Here, we show that the barriers to use them as therapeutic agents could be mitigated by combining them with silver. We demonstrate that synergism of combinatorial treatments (Silver/transition metals, including Zn, Co, Cd, Ni, and Cu) increases up to 8-fold their antimicrobial effect, when compared to their individual effects, against E. coli and B. subtilis. We find that most combinatorial treatments exhibit synergistic antimicrobial effects at low/ non-toxic concentrations to human keratinocyte cells, blast and melanoma rat cell lines. Moreover, we show that silver/(Cu, Ni, and Zn) increase prokaryotic cell permeability at sub-inhibitory concentrations, demonstrating this to be a possible mechanism of the synergistic behavior. Together, these results suggest that these combinatorial treatments will play an important role in the future development of antimicrobial agents and treatments against infections. In specific, the cytotoxicity experiments show that the combinations have great potential in the treatment of topical infections

Field efficacy and persistence of synthetic pesticidal dusts on stored maize grain under contrasting agro-climatic conditions

Grain storage trials were conducted in two districts of Zimbabwe with contrasting agro-climatic conditions (mean annual temperature of 18–30 °C and 28–42 °C; total rainfall of 750–1000 mm per annum and <450 mm per annum; respectively) to determine the comparative efficacy of commercially-available grain storage synthetic pesticides under contrasting climatic conditions. The five grain protectants, namely Shumba super dust® (fenitrothion 1% + deltamethrin 0.13%), Actellic gold dust® (pirimiphos-methyl 1.6% + thiamethoxam 0.36%), Super guard® (pirimiphos-methyl 1.6% + permethrin 0.4%), Chikwapuro® (pirimiphos-methyl 2.5% + deltamethrin 0.1%) and Ngwena yedura® (pirimiphos-methyl 2.5% + deltamethrin 0.2%) were evaluated at manufacturer's rates on stored shelled maize. The trials were conducted for a 40 week-long storage season in 2014/15 and again in 2015/16. Samples were analysed for insect grain damage, total insects per kilogram, grain weight loss, insect feeding dust and chaff as well as grain moisture content. Temperature and relative humidity within stores were recorded using data loggers. The results highlighted the generally poor efficacy of the synthetic pesticides under both cooler and hotter climatic test conditions. The pesticides failed to prevent insect grain damage or suppress insect pest numbers. Only Actellic gold dust®, introduced in the 2015/16 storage season was effective under both the agro-climatic conditions. The current study suggests that only Actellic gold dust® can be recommended for smallholder farm grain protection under both cooler and hotter climatic conditions. The findings confirm the frequent claims of smallholder farmers in east and southern Africa regarding poor storage pesticide performance, and emphasize the need to develop alternative effective storage insect pest control options

[EN] The urban development of the city of Valencia has left a physical imprint at the mouth of the old canal of the Turia River interrupting its natural path and deteriorating its connection with the sea. The infrastructure for port reception and the maritime terminal is presented as an opportunity to link with the layout of the interior dock, in continuity with the existing sheds. The intervention focuses on a volume that extends on the north side of the eastern dock. In this way, a series of spaces are projected taking both the citizen and the tourist to transit through areas destined to gastronomic and craft markets. This market serves as a transition between the city and the maritime terminal, making a direct relationship between local culture and the reception of tourists. The market and the terminal are complemented and connected by the routes and visuals that appear during the course of the citizen for the different stays of the project. The journey through the interior of the volume and its relationships with the exterior enhances the transition between the city and the sea, between local and foreign culture.Tadeo Ortiz, H. (2020).
