About the numerous cost and processing advantages of the microcellular foam injection molding process for thermoplastics materials in the automobile industry

    Get PDF
Today one of the goals of the automobile industry is to reduce weight. And physical foaming has already demonstrated its potential in this sector, improving the value and performance of applications under the bonnet: engine and gearbox cases, inlet air filters, cockpits, radiator baffles and so on. Around the world, the microcellular injection molding (MuCell) is used in thousands of applications in the automotive, packaging, technical molding, office machinery and electric and electronic component industries. The research opportunities purpose is to obtain even lighter pieces, with greater dimensional stability and with an excellent surface finish, in other words, perfect plastic parts. More component functionality with reduced weight, and cost control at the same time: MuCell is a process to physically foam thermoplastics, which combines technical and economic objectives. Besides weight reduction, it also provides improved dimensional stability of the moulded parts

PREDICTIVE MAINTENANCE OF A FLEXIBLE PRODUCTION LINE IMPLEMENTED IN MATLAB

    Get PDF
In the latest years, the need of new technologies in the industrial environment has increased due to the need of a more cost efficient, resilient, and sustainable production process. One of the main issues that is addressed in this research work is the lack of a technology that allows prediction and prevention of the breakdowns of a production line using digital models and artificial intelligence to take the best decisions based on real-time data. This paper presents a method for collecting data from the production line and feed these data to a database used by the Digital Twin model created in Matlab Predictive Maintenance Toolbox in which, based on this data, a decision about the maintenance activities required will be taken. This approach generates significant value by assisting maintenance engineers in pinpointing the precise timing for equipment maintenance. This capability directly contributes to reducing production line downtime and minimizing failures. Also, the Digital Twin model can be used to enable and test adjustments to the parameters of the production line equipment in order to determine the impact of this changes of the production process without interfering with the production process itself

This study was conducted to assess the clinical and microbiological efficacies of a single 3-g dose of fosfomycin trometamol for the treatment of cystitis in women. 77,6% of pathogens were Escherichia coli. A clinical evaluation at the 5-7 day follow-up showed that 100% of the women were free of symptoms, the microbiological evaluation at the 5-7 day of follow-up showed a 96% eradication rate. A microbiological evaluation at 1 month demonstrated prolonged eradication in 92% women. Only in one case were reported adverse reactions. Fosfomycin trometamol in a single 3-g dose is effective in the treatment of cystitis

Conductance model for single-crystalline/compact metal oxide gas-sensing layers in the nondegenerate limit: Example of epitaxial SnO2(101)

    Get PDF
Semiconducting metal oxide (SMOX)-based gas sensors are indispensable for safety and health applications, for example, explosive, toxic gas alarms, controls for intake into car cabins, and monitor for industrial processes. In the past, the sensor community has been studying polycrystalline materials as sensors where the porous and random microstructure of the SMOX does not allow a separation of the phenomena involved in the sensing process. This led to conduction models that can model and predict the behavior of the overall response, but they were not capable of giving fundamental information regarding the basic mechanisms taking place. The study of epitaxial layers is a definite improvement, allowing clarifying the different aspects and contributions of the sensing mechanisms. A detailed analytical model of the transduction function for n-A nd p-type single-crystalline/compact metal oxide gas sensors was developed that directly relates the conductance of the sample with changes in the surface electrostatic potential. Combined dc resistance and work function measurements were used in a compact SnO2(101) layer in operando conditions that allowed us to check the validity of our model in the region where Boltzmann approximation holds to determine the surface and bulk properties of the material.Fil: Simion, Cristian Eugen. Antibiotic Drug Delivery Systems for the Intracellular Targeting of Bacterial Pathogens

    Get PDF
Intracellular bacterial pathogens are hard to treat because of the inability of conventional antimicrobial agents belonging to widely used classes, like aminoglycosides and β-lactams, fluoroquinolones, or macrolides to penetrate, accumulate, or be retained in the mammalian cells. The increasing problem of antibiotic resistance complicates more the treatment of the diseases caused by these agents. In many cases, the increase in therapeutic doses and treatment duration is accompanied by the occurrence of severe side effects. Taking into account the huge financial investment associated with bringing a new antibiotic to the market and the limited lifetime of antibiotics, the design of drug delivery systems to enable the targeting of antibiotics inside the cells, to improve their activity in different intracellular niches at different pH and oxygen concentrations, and to achieve a reduced dosage and frequency of administration could represent a prudent choice. An ideal drug delivery system should possess several properties, such as antimicrobial activity, biodegradability, and biocompatibility, making it suitable for use in biomedical and pharmaceutical formulations. This approach will allow reviving old antibiotics rendered useless by resistance or toxicity, rescuing the last line therapy antibiotics by increasing the therapeutic index, widening the antimicrobial spectrum of antibiotics scaffolds that failed due to membrane permeability problems, and thus reducing the gap between increasingly drug-resistant pathogens and the development of new antibiotics. Different improved drug carriers have been developed for treating intracellular pathogens, including antibiotics loaded into liposomes, microspheres, polymeric carriers, and nanoplexes. The purpose of this chapter is to present the limitations of each class of antibiotics in targeting intracellular pathogens and the main research directions for the development of drug delivery systems for the intracellular release of antibiotics
