    Gym-Goers Preference Analysis of Fitness Centers during the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Conjoint Analysis Approach for Business Sustainability

    The COVID-19 pandemic has had a great impact on the fitness centers industry. The purpose of this study is to analyze the preference of gym-goers on fitness centers in the Philippines during the COVID-19 pandemic by utilizing a conjoint analysis approach. One thousand gym-goers voluntarily participated in this study and answered 22 queries created from the orthogonal design. The results indicated that Price was the highest attribute considered (21.59%), followed by Ventilation (17.56%), Service (16.59%), Trainer (14.63%), Payment Method (11.95%), Operating Hours (8.90%), and Login (8.70%). The results also indicated that comfort, security, and fitness center services were the main aspects that gym-goers would consider as their main preference. The study highlighted how gym-goers are sensitive to the price set by the fitness centers. Moreover, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ventilation and size are considered highly important attributes among gym-goers. Comfort, safety, and security are the main consideration to have sustainable fitness centers during and even after the COVID-19 pandemic. The outcome of this study may benefit fitness centers and increase their business market by considering the preference of customers. Finally, the result of this study can be utilized by fitness centers to promote a generalized fitness center for gym-goers of different generations, statuses, and even socioeconomic status during and even after the COVID-19 pandemic

    The Cross-Section of Crypto-Currencies as Financial Assets: An Overview

    Crypto-currencies have developed a vibrant market since bitcoin, the first crypto-currency, was created in 2009. We look at the properties of cryptocurrencies as financial assets in a broad cross-section. We discuss approaches of altcoins to generate value and their trading and information platforms. Then we investigate crypto-currencies as alternative investment assets, studying their returns and the co-movements of altcoin prices with bitcoin and against each other. We evaluate their addition to investors' portfolios and document they are indeed able to enhance the diversification of portfolios due to their little co-movements with established assets, as well as with each other. Furthermore, we evaluate pure portfolios of crypto-currencies: an equallyweighted one, a value-weighted one, and one based on the CRypto-currency IndeX (CRIX). The CRIX portfolio displays lower risk than any individual of the liquid crypto-currencies. We also document the changing characteristics of the crypto-currency market. Deepening liquidity is accompanied by a rise in market value, and a growing number of altcoins is contributing larger amounts to aggregate crypto-currency market capitalization

    Novel Magnetic Resonance Imaging Tools for Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Risk Stratification

    Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a common genetic disorder with a well described risk of sudden cardiac death; however, risk stratification has remained a challenge. Recently, novel parameters in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR) have shown promise in helping to improve upon current risk stratification paradigms. In this manuscript, we have reviewed novel CMR risk markers and their utility in HCM. The results of the review showed that T1, extracellular volume, CMR feature tracking, and other miscellaneous novel CMR variables have the potential to improve sudden death risk stratification and may have additional roles in diagnosis and prognosis. The strengths and weaknesses of these imaging techniques, and their potential utility and implementation in HCM risk stratification are discussed

    How the Education Industries React to Synchronous and Asynchronous Learning in COVID-19: Multigroup Analysis Insights for Future Online Education

    The phenomenon of the COVID-19 pandemic requires prevention actions, such as social and physical distancing. In education, there is no choice but to adapt to online learning from traditional face-to-face learning. Online learning is divided into two approaches, namely synchronous and asynchronous learning. In practice, both synchronous and asynchronous learning have their respective advantages and disadvantages that can affect the efficiency and the effectiveness of online learning that are felt by students. The present study has analyzed students’ acceptance of synchronous learning and asynchronous learning by comparing the results of the two approaches that were used in educational institutions. Data from 162 respondents in the synchronous and 147 asynchronous online learning surveys were obtained through distributing online questionnaires. The present research utilized multigroup partial least square-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) for data analysis. The results indicate that students’ acceptance of synchronous online learning is influenced by the characteristics of the teachers, technological innovations, and the quality of the learning system. At the same time, the teacher characteristics, the organizational and technical support, technological innovations, and the trust affect the acceptance of asynchronous online learning. The R2 that was generated from the two groups was 58 percent and 62 percent for synchronous and asynchronous learning, respectively. The managerial implications that can be implemented are also described here in order to assist institutions in increasing the acceptance of synchronous and asynchronous online learning for future online education
