    Does Internet access to official data display any regularity: case of the Electronic Data Delivery System of the Central Bank of Turkey

    1990s were the years of enormous growth of information exchange. Rapid development, augmented coverage and wide accessibility of Internet have been the key factors of that amazing growth. People’s access to economic and financial data was one of the major areas in which new trends and patterns of usage were observed. Owing to the elevated importance of financial information in today’s sophisticated markets, it is hypothesized that the linkage between data access patterns and economic events should display some regularity. In addition, one should be able to explain part of the irregularities. This study examines the access statistics of the Central Bank of Turkey’s Electronic Data Delivery System on these grounds.     Improving the Productivity and Energy Efficiency by a Heat Treatment Method Applied to Aluminum Forged Parts

    In industrial applications, hot forging of AA6082 alloy is carried at 480°C. After the hot forging operation parts are cooled down to room temperature and heated again up to 540°C for solution heat treatment and artificially aged. Heating-cooling-heating cycles leads to energy and time loss in production, and have long-termenvironmental and economic impacts. Mass production of aluminum parts for applications in various industries (automotive, aerospace etc.) requires a process with higher productivity. The aim of this study was to provide time and energy efficiency by combining hot forging and solution treatment processes into a single operation. AA6082 billets were forged at 540°C for 7.5, 15 and 30 minutes in order to achieve simultaneous solution treatment. Billets were then water quenched and artificially aged. Mechanical properties (hardness, tensile strength) as well as microstructure of samples were investigated. Required mechanical properties were achieved on the samples forged and treated at 540°C for 15 and 30 minutes

This paper will deal with the environmentaly friendly measures to be taken by marketing organizations. In addition to the green marketing sub-mix, some important strategies, including green logistics and reverse logistics topics, are handled extensively with the aim of completing the framework of the green marketing

    Sustainable frozen food facility location selection under pandemic era

    Consumption of frozen food has increased significantly in many countries experiencing total closure due to epidemics. In order to meet this increase in demand, companies apply different strategies in both production and logistics processes. In particular, warehouse locations need to be closer to consumers so as not to disrupt the increasing demand and the cold chain. Considering the sustainable position in the frozen food industry, it is essential to focus on both commercial and economic impacts. However, especially the environmental and sustainable criteria have always been neglected in terms of planning the country and the city. Therefore, this study has three main research questions; (1) identify key criteria for sustainability-focused frozen food facility location, (2) understand the relationship between these criteria, and (3) develop a hierarchical sustainable location roadmap for practitioners. Initially, a literature review was conducted to find the answers to these questions and reveal suitable criteria. Secondly, PROMETHEE was used to determine the relative importance of the data-driven performance of the main and sub-criteria. Therefore, this study gives the reader a comprehensive insight into how sustainable data-driven performance criteria are applied in frozen food storage facility locations. Finally, the proposed model used real-life data to select a developing country's sustainable frozen food storage location

    Use of activated protein C has no avail in the early phase of acute pancreatitis

    AbstractObjectives. Sepsis and acute pancreatitis have similar pathogenetic mechanisms that have been implicated in the progression of multiple organ failure. Drotrecogin alfa, an analogue of endogenous protein C, reduces mortality in clinical sepsis. Our objective was to evaluate the early therapeutic effects of activated protein C (APC) in a rat model of acute necrotizing pancreatitis. Subjects and method. Acute necrotizing pancreatitis was induced by intraductal injection of 5% Na taurocholate. Hourly bolus injections of saline or recombinant human APC (drotrecogin alfa) was commenced via femoral venous catheter four hours after the induction of acute pancreatitis. The experiment was terminated nine hours after pancratitis induction. Animals in group one (n=20) had a sham operation while animals in group two (n=20) received saline and animals in group three (n=20) received drotrecogin alfa boluses after acute pancreatitis induction. Pancreatic tissue for histopathologic scores and myeloperoxidase, glutathione reductase, glutathione peroxidase, and catalase activites were collected, and blood for serum amylase, urea, creatinine, and inleukin-6 measurements was withdrawn. Results. Serum amylase activity was significantly lower in the APC treated group than the untreated group (17,435±432 U/L vs. 27,426±118 U/L, respectively). While the serum interleukin-6 concentration in the APC untreated group was significantly lower than the treated group (970±323 pg/mL vs. 330±368 pg/mL, respectively). Conclusion. In the early phase of acute pancreatitis, drotrecogin alfa treatment did not result in a significant improvement in oxidative and inflammatory parameters or renal functions

    Clinical features and major bleeding predictors for 161 fatal cases of COVID-19: A retrospective observational study

    The aim of this study was to investigate the patient characteristics and laboratory parameters for COVID-19 non-survivors as well as to find risk factors for major bleeding complications. For this retrospective study, the data of patients who died with COVID-19 in our intensive care unit were collected in the period of March 20 - April 30, 2020. D-dimer, platelet count, C-reactive protein (CRP), troponin, and international normalized ratio (INR) levels were recorded on the 1st, 5th, and 10th days of hospitalization in order to investigate the possible correlation of laboratory parameter changes with in-hospital events. A total of 161 non-survivors patients with COVID-19 were included in the study.  The median age was 69.8±10.9 years, and 95 (59%) of the population were male. Lung-related complications were the most common in-hospital complications. Patients with COVID-19 had in-hospital complications such as major bleeding (39%), hemoptysis (14%), disseminated intravascular coagulation (13%), liver failure (21%), ARDS (85%), acute kidney injury (40%), and myocardial injury (70%). A multiple logistics regression analysis determined that age, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, use of acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) or low molecular weight heparin (LMWH), hemoglobin, D-dimer, INR, and acute kidney injury were independent predictors of major bleeding. Our results showed that a high proportion of COVID-19 non-survivors suffered from major bleeding complications
