    Off-Shell N=(1,0){\mathcal N}=(1,0) Linear Multiplets in Six Dimensions

    We provide a tensor calculus for nn-number of N=(1,0){\mathcal N}=(1,0) linear multiplets in six dimensions. The coupling of linear multiplets is encoded in a function FIJ{\mathcal F}_{IJ} that is subject to certain constraints. We provide various rigid and local supersymmetric models depending on the choice of the function FIJ{\mathcal F}_{IJ} and provide an interesting off-diagonal superinvariant, which leads to an R2R^2 supergravity upon elimination of auxiliary fields.Comment: v2., typos fixed, reference added, version appeared in EPJC, 24 page

    European Union as a Leader in Climate Change Policy: Assessing Europe’s Roles in the World∗

    The European Union has grown up in terms of influence and size in international politics. The size of its economy and the ever-increasing membership, have seen its ambitions grow meaning that the EU now has an international presence it did not have at its formation. It is easy to say that with the EU being an ambitious actor in international politics, the rise into prominence of climate change naturally came in handy for the EU as it provided an opportunity for the EU to assert itself and prove both its capacity and presence. The 1992 Rio Earth Summit and the withdrawal of the USA from the obligations of the Kyoto came as a blessing in disguise for the Union as it seized the moment to assert itself. Thus, in trying to understand what role the EU has or is playing in international climate change politics, there is need to assess its leadership claims and what it has done to prove these claims. To get there, the paper will navigate through a part of the discipline of International Relations (IR) to understand how it provides for a basis to explain or understand the EU’s limitations and strengths on actorness

    Evaluation of osteoblastic activity in extraction sockets treated with platelet-rich fibrin

    Objective: The aim of this study was to determine whether the use of platelet rich fibrin (PRF) improved the healing of extraction sockets. Study Design: A total of 20 patients with bilateral soft tissue impacted mandibular third molars were included in this study. The left and right third molars were extracted during the same session. Subsequently, the PRF membrane was randomly administered to one of the extraction sockets, whereas the contralateral sockets were left without treatment. On postoperative 30. and 90. days, panoramic images and bone scintigrams were taken to evaluate the bone healing between PRF-treated and non-PRF-treated sockets. Also, periodontal evaluation was performed in the same control sessions. Dependent group t test for paired samples was used for statistical analysis. Results: The average increase in technetium-99m methylene diphosphonate uptake as an indication of enhanced bone healing did not differ significantly between PRF-treated and non-PRF- treated sockets 30 and 90 days postoperatively. Radioopacity that can show the bone healing on panoramic images were measured by Image J programme and they did not differ significantly. Also periodontal values did not differ significantly. Conclusions: PRF might not lead to enhanced bone healing in impacted mandibular third molar extraction sockets 30 and 90 days ater surgery. It is thought that PRF has the potential characteristics of an autologous fibrin matrix and can accelerate the healing. To better understand the effects of PRF on healing, further research is warranted with larger sample size

    Atypical Antipsychotics Induced Metabolic Syndrome

    The use of atypical antipsychotics in patients with schizophrenia is tightly related to the metabolic abnormalities like weight gain, diabetes, dyslipidemia and/or hypertension. Beside of having unique receptor binding features, their heterogeneous receptor binding properties ara also involved in the occurence of the metabolic side effects caused by atypical antipsychotics. It is striking that atypical antipschotics related metabolic side effects have the potential to influence each other in a negative way. Metabolic abnormalities related to atypical antipschotics do not only lead to increase in mortality, but also worsen clinical course and functionality of patients with schizophrenia. Thus, patients treated with atypical antipsychotics should be evaluated routinely with respect to their metabolic states. In this article, metabolic side effects of atypical antipsychotics and their mechanisms were investigated on pharmacological basis.     Utility of 'dual phase' cone beam computed tomography during radioembolisation in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma : what is really changing in flow dynamics before and after 90Y delivery?

    Purpose: The aims of the study were: 1) to compare two phases of dual-phase cone beam computed tomography (DPCBCT) achieved before and after Yttrium-90 (90Y) administration and to evaluate additional benefits during radioembolisation (RE) procedures; and 2) to compare DP-CBCT with pre-procedure contrast enhanced cross-sectional images in terms of tumour detection. Material and methods: Twenty-three hepatocellular carcinoma patients undergoing RE treatment were scanned with DPCBCT consisting of early arterial (EA) and late arterial (LA) phases before and after 90Y administration. The CT-like datasets were compared according to embolisation effect, enhancement patterns, lesion detectability, image quality, and artifacts by two interventional radiologists blinded to each other. The compatibility of the two radiologists was evaluated with kappa statistical analysis, and the difference between EA and LA phases was evaluated with marginal homogeneity test. Also, DP-CBCT images were compared with preprocedural cross-sectional images (CT/MRI). Results: For 23 patients 92 data were acquired. Thirteen patients showed a decrease on post-embolisation images both visually and on Hounsfield unit (HU) measurements. No statistical difference was found for tumour detection between EA and LA phases (p = 1.0). Tumour enhancement was visually superior at LA phases whereas EA phases were better for arterial mapping for selective catheterisation. DP-CBCT images were not inferior to preprocedural cross-sectional imaging findings. Conclusions: DP-CBCT is a promising tool for predicting tumour response to therapy and is not inferior to preprocedural cross-sectional imaging in terms of tumour detection. It allows better assessment during RE procedures because early phases provide good mapping for superselective catheterisation whereas late phases are better for visualisation of tumour enhancement

    ISRM suggested methods for determining the creep characteristics of rock

    It is important to note that creep is only one aspect of the time-dependent behavior of rocks. In Fig. 1, three cases are illustrated with respect to the complete stress–strain curve: creep, i.e., increasing strain when the stress is held constant; stress relaxation, i.e., decreasing stress when the strain is held constant; and a combination of both, when the rock unloads along a chosen unloading path. This ISRM suggested method deals only with the case of creep, which is particularly relevant for cases where the applied load or stress is kept constant. Creep tests have also been carried out on soft rocks such as tuff, shale, lignite, and sandstone, medium-hard rocks such as marble, limestone, and rock salt, and hard rocks such as granite and andesite (i.e., Akagi 1976; Akai et al. 1979, 1984; Ito and Akagi 2001; Berest et al. 2005; Doktan 1983; Passaris 1979; Serata et al. 1968; Wawersik 1983; Okubo et al. 1991, 1993; Masuda et al. 1987, 1988; Ishizuka et al. 1993; Lockner and Byerlee 1977; Boukharov et al. 1995; Fabre and Pellet 2006; Aydan et al. 1995; Chan 1997; Cristescu and Hunsche 1998; Hunsche 1992; Hunsche and Hampel 1999; Ito et al. 1999; Mottahed and Szeki 1982; Perzyna 1966; Slizowski and Lankof 2003; Yang et al. 1999). These experiments were mostly carried out under compressive loading conditions. There are few studies on rocks using creep tests under a tensile loading regime (Ito and Sasajima 1980, 1987; Ito et al. 2008; Aydan et al. 2011).     Influence of breed and parity on teat and milking characterıstıcs ın daıry cattle

    The aim of this study was to determine some morphological traits of the udder teat and their influence on the milk flow rate in three dairy cattle breeds (Brown Swiss, Holstein and Simmental). The average milking time and milk yield was 8.79±0.16 minutes and 9.40±0.28 kg, respectively. There was a finding that the breed of the dairy cows had no effect on the total milking time, with the Holstein cows having the highest milk yield (P<0.01). The average milk flow rate was 1.09±0.04 kg/minute and the Holstein cows had the highest milk flow rate (P<0.05). The cow parity didn’t affect the milk flow rate and the milk yield. The average teat length, average teat diameter and average teat volume varied among the cattle breeds and were highest in the Brown Swiss, and lowest in the Simmental cows. In conclusion, the milk flow rate varies among cattle breeds, and it was observed that dairy cows with high milk yields have higher milk flow rates
