Analysis of Dynamic Pull-in for a Graphene-based MEMS Model

    Get PDF
A novel procedure based on the Sturm’s theorem for real-valued polynomials is developed to predict and identify periodic solutions and non-periodic solutions in the pull-in analysis of a graphene-based MEMS lumped parameter model with general initial conditions. It is demonstrated that under specific conditions on the lumped parameters and the initial conditions, the model has certain periodic solutions and otherwise there is no such solutions. This theoretical procedure is made practical by numerical implementations with Python scripts to verify the predicted behaviour of the periodic solutions. Numerical simulations are performed with sample data to justify by this procedure the analytically predicted existence of periodic solutions. Also, Low Order Fourier Approximation is used to find the solution for the linear spring case. Comparison with the highly accurate Runge-Kutta method is done to verify derived values from the new numerical approximation

Applying Bayesian Regularization for Acceleration of Levenberg-Marquardt based Neural Network Training

    Get PDF
Neural network is widely used for image classification problems, and is proven to be effective with high successful rate. However one of its main challenges is the significant amount of time it takes to train the network. The goal of this research is to improve the neural network training algorithms and apply and test them in classification and recognition problems. In this paper, we describe a method of applying Bayesian regularization to improve Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) algorithm and make it better usable in training neural networks. In the experimental part, we qualify the modified LM algorithm using Bayesian regularization and use it to determine an appropriate number of hidden layers in the network to avoid overtraining. The result of the experiment was very encouraging with a 98.8% correct classification when run on test samples

Biological Characteristics of Schmallenberg Virus - an Overview

    Get PDF
Schmallenberg virus disease was originally reported in Germany in 2011. The new disease was diagnosed in the UK in January 2012. Currently, little information has been collected about the pathogen of the Schmallenberg virus. The virus genetically belongs to the Bunyaviridae family (Orthobunyavirus genus and Simbu serogroup). The clinical symptoms of acute SBV infection are unspecific in sheep and goats. This study characterized the origin, emergence, transmission, spread in Europe and Azerbaijan, clinical signs, and the diagnosis of this virus. Currently, the Shmallenberg disease is known to be a serious threat to Veterinary Public Health.

Ethical values and the perception of corruption

The purpose of the present study is to assess the ethical standards of Indonesian parliamentarians, how they provides Indonesian MPs with proper cognitive guidance, to identify what factors may be responsible for variation in ethical standards and to assess how Indonesia parliamentarians compare to legislators and policy makers from other countries. The methodological approach, employed in each of these studies, to map the ethical preferences of parliamentarians can also be used to explore how the ethical world of Indonesian parliamentarians has changed over time, in addition to replicating the analyses performed in previous studies with a larger sample, the paper explored three sets of questions that previous studies had not addressed. First, we explored what are some of the correlates or some possible causes of individual attitudes; Second, we assessed how the ethical attitudes and standards of respondents shape the way they perceive corruption; Third, we performed a similar analysis with data collected among Kazakhstani civil servants to test whether the perception of corruption is influenced by ethical attitudes also outside Indonesia or not.

Storage Ring Probes of Dark Matter and Dark Energy

We show that proton storage ring experiments designed to search for proton electric dipole moments can also be used to look for the nearly dc spin precession induced by dark energy and ultra-light dark matter. These experiments are sensitive to both axion-like and vector fields. Current technology permits probes of these phenomena up to three orders of magnitude beyond astrophysical limits. The relativistic boost of the protons in these rings allows this scheme to have sensitivities comparable to atomic co-magnetometer experiments that can also probe similar phenomena. These complementary approaches can be used to extract the micro-physics of a signal, allowing us to distinguish between pseudo-scalar, magnetic and electric dipole moment interactions.Comment: 19 pages, 7 figure

Chemical composition of fruits of a feijoa (F. sellowiana) in the conditions of subtropics of Russia

The feijoa is culture quite widespread on the Black Sea coast of Russia. Difficulties are connected with absence in Russia of grades. All gardens have only the mix of grades, which is grown up from seeds. At institute are going of work on creation of productive varieties, with good quality parameters. Data on chemical and biochemical composition of fruits of high-yielding forms of a feijoa are provided in article. After carried-out selection work we selected a large number of perspective forms of a feijoa (more than 50). However not all of them was repeated by the results on productivity and were excluded from works on further studying. For today after rejection there were no more than two tens perspective forms.  They differ from each other on productivity, terms of maturing and quality of fruits. On efficiency the D-1 forms (Dagomys), 0-01 (Country) and 10-22 are allocated - productivity of fruits (on the average in 7 years) made respectively 33.3, 20.1 and 12.4 kg from a bush. The plants are sorted out according to the productivity, ripening terms and fruit quality. It is defined that early ripe grades are characterized by higher activity of oxidizing enzymes (263.1 mL.O2.g-1). In a zone of damp subtropics the grades containing increased quantity of carotinoids are steadier (0.31 mg.g-1). The contents in fruits of a feijoa of such substances, as vitamin P, Р-active and pectin substances, ascorbic acid, macro and microelements are revealed. Fruits of a feijoa are differed the increased accumulation of sugars, at some forms the content of sucrose prevails over amount of monosaccharide. High accumulation of vitamin C (41.89 - 78.68 mg.dL-1) is noted. But we don't confirm the high content of iodine in fruits. Fruits of a feijoa can be considered as potential raw materials for production of canned products with a functional purpose
