O interesse acadêmico pela educação infantil no campus de Tocantinópolis-TO: uma pesquisa documental
ABSTRACT. Early childhood education corresponds to the first stage of the basic education system, whose purpose permeates the integral development of the child, which requires, among other things, the establishment of a broader and more effective academic debate about this stage. Thus, this study emerges with the objective of mapping the Course Completion Papers (TCCs) of the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT) that addressed this theme in the scope of their work. For this, a documentary research was carried out, analyzing the TCCs elaborated by the graduates of the courses offered by the campus of Tocantinópolis. The results indicate that in a universe of 159 papers available in the institution's Repository, only 12 addressed aspects related to Early Childhood Education, including from normative aspects to the pedagogical challenges of daily day care centers and preschools. It is concluded that the academic interest of these graduates is still configured from an incipient character, requiring a greater incentive on the part of the respective courses.ABSTRACT. Para ello, se realizó una investigación documental, analizando los TCC elaborados por los egresados de los cursos ofrecidos por el campus de Tocantinópolis. Los resultados indican que en un universo de 159 artículos disponibles en el Repositorio de la institución, solo 12 abordaron aspectos relacionados con la Educación Infantil, incluyendo desde aspectos normativos hasta los desafíos pedagógicos de las guarderías y preescolares diarios. Se concluye que el interés académico de estos egresados aún se configura desde un carácter incipiente, requiriendo un mayor incentivo por parte de los respectivos cursos.ABSTRACT. Dessa maneira, esse estudo emerge com o objetivo de mapear os Trabalhos de Conclusão de Curso (TCCs) da Universidade Federal do Tocantins (UFT) que abordaram tal temática no escopo do seu trabalho. Para tanto, realizou-se uma pesquisa de caráter documental, analisando os TCCs elaborados pelos egressos dos cursos ofertados pelo câmpus de Tocantinópolis. Os resultados indicam que em um universo de 159 trabalhos disponibilizados no Repositório da instituição, apenas 12 abordaram aspectos concernentes à Educação Infantil, incluindo desde os aspectos normativos até os desafios pedagógicos do cotidiano das creches e das pré-escolas. Conclui-se que o interesse acadêmico dos referidos egressos ainda configura-se a partir de um caráter incipiente, necessitando de um incentivo maior por parte dos respectivos cursos.

Allergen-Specific Immunotherapy Follow-Up by Measuring Allergen-Specific IgG as an Objective Parameter
The clinical efficacy of the allergen‐specific immunotherapy (AIT) has been well‐documented using inhalant or hymenoptera‐derived allergens in atopic patients with corresponding specific IgE antibodies. AIT is considered as the unique treatment that is capable of modifying the natural course of the allergic disease because it induces a variety of immunological mechanisms, with emphasis in the production of blocking IgG antibodies by IL‐10‐stimulated B cells due to the generation of Treg, Breg, or even Th2 cells. Thus, the measurement of specific IgG subclasses, particularly IgG4, to the crude extract or more importantly to allergen components, might be a useful and potential tool to follow‐up objectively the patients undergoing AIT in addition to clinical parameters. In this chapter, the authors have emphasized a very sensitive and highly specific reverse ELISA, developed by them, to measure IgG subclasses directed to clinically relevant natural allergens that are undoubtedly better when compared to those obtained with recombinant counterparts. Such a technique may produce more authentic results taking into account the IgG subclass binding capacity to a particular allergen and might be a valuable and alternative method for monitoring activation of tolerance‐inducing mechanisms in patients under AIT
PRESSURE INJURY DEVELOPMENT AND CARE COMPLEXITY IN PATIENTS AT AN EMERGENCY SERVICE
Objective: to assess pressure injury development and its association with care complexity in patients treated at an emergency service.Method: a prospective cohort and observational study conducted from August to October 2020 with patients treated in the emergency unit from a public hospital in southwest Bahia, Brazil. A specific form created for the study, the Braden Scale and the Perroca Classification Instrument were used for data collection. The data were analyzed by means of descriptive analysis and the Pearson's chi-square test.Results: the sample consisted in 225 patients. The incidence of pressure injury was 9.3%. It mainly affected women (61.9%) in the intermediate (57.1%) and semi-intensive (42.9%) care levels. There was an association between care complexity and pressure injury development (p<0.001).Conclusion: the importance of evaluating care complexity in the patients treated at the emergency services is emphasized to provide safe care and reduce adverse events
Molecular epidemiology of heteroresistant vancomycin-intermediate Staphylococcus aureus in Brazil
AbstractTo determine the epidemiological and molecular characteristics of 12 Staphylococcus aureus isolates presenting heteroresistance to vancomycin in laboratories of two cities in Santa Catarina, southern Brazil. Epidemiological data, including the city of isolation, health institution, and date of isolation were considered, as well as the associated clinical specimen. For molecular characterization, we analyzed the staphylococcal cassette chromosome types, the erm gene presence, and the genomic diversity of isolates using pulsed-field gel electrophoresis. The 12 isolates of S. aureus were previously confirmed as heteroresistance to vancomycin using the population analysis profile–area under curve. Regarding genetic variability, two clones were detected: the main one (clone A) composed of four isolates and the clones B, with two isolates. For clone A, two isolates presented identical band patterns and were related to the same hospital, with an interval of 57 days between their isolation. The other isolates of this clone showed no epidemiological link between them because they were isolated in different hospitals and had no temporal relationship. The other clone showed no detectable epidemiological relationship. The heteroresistance to vancomycin recovered in Santa Catarina State from 2009 to 2012 had, in general, heterogeneous genomic patterns based on pulsed-field gel electrophoresis results, which is in accordance with the fact that these isolates had little or no epidemiological relationship among them. Due to the characteristic phenotypic instability and often prolonged vancomycin therapy for selection, clonal spread is not as common as for other resistance mechanisms disseminated through horizontal gene transfer
REPERCUSSÕES NA VIDA DE CUIDADORES DE CRIANÇAS E ADOLESCENTES COM DOENÇA ONCOLÓGICA
Objective: to describe the impacts of caring for children and adolescents with cancer on the lives of caregivers. Method: Descriptivestudy with a qualitative approach conducted from May to June 2015. Fifteen (15) caregivers of children and adolescents from an institution thatprovides support to children with cancer in a municipality in the southern region of Bahia. The data were collected through semi-structuredinterviews and analyzed according to the technique of content analysis, thematic modality. Results: Changes in family routine and financialproblems were identified as negative aspects faced by caregivers, and the support obtained was identified as a positive aspect. The main feelingsexperienced by them were discouragement, sadness, loss, revolt, victory, death and faith. Conclusion: It can be concluded that follow up by amultidisciplinary team is necessary to provide emotional support to caregivers, in order to prepare them to cope with the stressful events associatedwith the care process.Objetivo: descrever as repercussões que ocorreram na vida de cuidadores de crianças e adolescentes comdoença oncológica. Método: estudo descritivo com abordagem qualitativa, realizado entre maio e junho de 2015,com 15 cuidadores de crianças e adolescentes, em uma instituição de apoio a crianças com câncer de um municípioda região sul da Bahia. Os dados foram coletados através de entrevistas semiestruturadas e analisados conforme atécnica de análise de conteúdo, modalidade temática. Resultados: identificou-se como dificuldades para as cuidadorasas mudanças da rotina familiar e os problemas financeiros, e como facilidade o apoio encontrado. Os principaissentimentos vivenciados pelas mesmas foram desânimo, tristeza, perda, revolta, vitória, morte e fé. Conclusão: dessaforma, faz-se necessário acompanhamento com equipe multidisciplinar, a fim de fornecer o suporte emocional para ascuidadoras poderem vivenciar as repercussões que o processo de cuidar lhes impõe.Objetivo: describir las repercusiones que ocurrieron en la vida de cuidadores de niños y adolescentes con enfermedad oncológica.Método: estudio descriptivo con abordaje cualitativo, hecho entre mayo y junio de 2015, con 15 cuidadores de niños y adolescentes, en unainstitución de apoyo a niños con cáncer de un municipio de la región sur de Bahia. Se obtuvieron los datos por medio de entrevistas semiestructuradas y se los analizaron conforme la técnica de análisis de contenido, modalidad temática. Resultados: se identificaron como dificultadespara las cuidadoras los cambios de la rutina familiar y los problemas financieros, y como facilidad el apoyo encontrado. Los principalessentimientos presentes fueron desánimo, tristeza, pérdida, indignación, vitoria, muerte y fe. Conclusión: es necesario acompañamiento con elequipo multidisciplinar, con fines de fornecer el suporte emocional para que las cuidadoras puedan vivir las repercusiones que el proceso decuidar les impone
EVALUATION OF DRUG PRESCRIPTIONS IN A HOSPITAL EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT
Objective: To evaluate the adherence of medical prescriptions to patient safety recommendations using the Medication Prescription Safety Checklist.Method: This is an observational, cross-sectional study carried out between May and June 2022, with 341 medical prescriptions for medicines in a hospital emergency room in the interior of Bahia - Brazil, whose data were analyzed through descriptive analysis.Results: 80% to 89% of the prescriptions adhered to the safety recommendations; the item with the highest adherence was identification of the date of the prescription, and the lowest adherence was having drugs with similar names identified in upper case or bold. Around 18.63% (n=514) of the drugs prescribed are on the list of potentially dangerous drugs for hospital use.Conclusion: The evaluation of medical prescriptions for medicines highlighted existing barriers in clinical practice, which makes it possible to develop more effective mechanisms to promote patient safety
Eruption of the lupine tooth in horses thoroughbred and campolina
Nos equinos, os primeiros dentes pré-molares da arcada superior, ou dentes lupinos, são pequenos e caracteristicamente vestigiais, mostram-se posicionados imediatamente mesiais à raiz do primeiro dente molar superior, não atuam funcionalmente na mastigação e podem ainda provocar dor no animal. Foram avaliados 63 animais da raça Campolina e 58 da raça Puro Sangue Inglês quanto à presença ou não de dente lupino. Os dados encontrados mostraram que 42,86% dos animais da raça Campolina apresentaram dente lupino, assim como 3,45% da raça Puro Sangue Inglês. A frequência variável encontrada revela que a presença deste dente é uma característica particular e individual dos animais. Foi possível observar através da aplicação do teste exato de Fisher (p_0,05) que entre os equinos das raças PSI e Campolina ocorreu diferença significativa (p_0,0001). De outra forma, para cada uma das raças a ocorrência da presença deste dente entre os sexos não foi observada diferença PSI (p_0,496) e Campolina (p_0,083). _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTIn horses, the first premolar teeth of the upper arch, or wolf teeth are small and characteristically vestigial, appear positioned immediately mesial to the root of the first molar tooth, do not act functionally in chewing and can also cause pain in animals. There were evaluated 63 animals of Campolina breed and 58 of Thoroughbred in relation to the presence or absence of wolf teeth. The findings showed that 42.86% of the Campolina horses presented wolf teeth, as well as 3.45% of the Thoroughbred. The variable frequency found discloses that the presence of this tooth is a particular and individual feature of animals. It was observed by applying the Fisher’s test (p<0.05) that among equine breeds Thoroughbred and Campolina, there was significant difference (p<0.0001). Otherwise for each of the breeds the occurrence of presence of this tooth among the genders was not observed Thoroughbred (p_0.496) and Campolina (p_0.083)
Avaliação do perfil sociodemográfico, nutricional e alimentar de estudantes de nutrição de uma universidade pública em Lagarto-SE
Introdução: Aspectos comportamentais, como hábitos alimentares, nível de atividade física, o tabagismo, o consumo de álcool, entre outros, são influenciados pelo ingresso do universitário na vida acadêmica, podendo afetar à sua saúde e qualidade de vida. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o comportamento alimentar e perfil nutricional de estudantes universitários do curso de nutrição de uma instituição de ensino superior pública localizada na cidade de Lagarto- Sergipe. Métodos: trata-se de um estudo transversal, realizado com 100 estudantes de nutrição nos turnos matutino e vespertino. Foi aplicado questionário semi-estruturado relacionado ao comportamento alimentar, estilo de vida e estado nutricional. A avaliação antropométrica foi realizada através da aferição do peso, altura, pregas cutâneas bicipital, tricipital, subescapular, suprailíaca e circunferência da cintura. Tanto a aferição do peso quanto da altura dos individuos foram realizadas seguindo os critérios de Lohman. Para tabulação dos dados e formatação de gráficos ilustrativos utilizou-se o programa SPSS (versão 20.0) e Excel (versão 2007). Resultados: A maioria dos estudantes eram eutroficos (71%), apesar de mais da metade dos entrevistados serem sedentários (52%). Quanto a comparação do consumo alimentar semanal de diferentes grupos alimentares entre os ciclos, o consumo foi de: 25% de frutas, e 28% de Legumes e verduras. Conclusão: Observaram-se várias inadequações alimentares, assim como o sedentarismo apesar de boa parte dos universitários encontrarem-se eutroficos. Susceptibility profiles and correlation with pneumococcal serotypes soon after implementation of the 10-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine in Brazil
SummaryObjectivesTo evaluate the susceptibility patterns among Streptococcus pneumoniae recovered during the years 2010–2012 and to correlate these with serotypes.MethodsPneumococci from invasive sites were serotyped by sequential multiplex PCR and/or Quellung reaction. Etest strips were used to determine the minimal inhibitory concentrations, and the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines were used for interpretation. Genetic determinants of macrolide resistance were assessed by PCR, and the occurrence of the D phenotype was analyzed following the recommendations of the CLSI.ResultsOne hundred fifty-nine S. pneumoniae were studied; most were recovered from blood and were associated with serotypes 14, 3, 4, 23F, 20, 7F, 12F, 19A, and 19F. Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine PCV7, PCV10, and PCV13 and 23-valent polysaccharide vaccine serotypes represented 38.2%, 48.7%, 64.5%, and 85.5%, respectively. β-Lactam non-susceptibility (non-meningitis) was basically related to serotype 19A. For meningitis, it was observed in 21.4% (serotypes 14, 3, 9V, 23F, and 24F). Resistance to erythromycin occurred in 8.2% and mefA was the most common macrolide genetic determinant. One isolate was resistant to levofloxacin. Non-susceptibility to trimethoprim–sulfamethoxazole was 37.7% and to tetracycline was 22.0%.ConclusionsOur population of pneumococci represents a transition era, soon after the introduction of PCV10. Non-susceptible patterns were found to be associated with classical PCV serotypes (especially serotype 14), which is still highly prevalent, and non-PCV10 ones (19A), which may disseminate, occupying the biological niche left by the vaccine serotypes
