    Мотивация, заинтересованность, удовлетворенность – движущие силы на занятиях студентов по лыжной подготовке

    The study addresses the issue of how to attract the students of non-physical specialties to ski training – a physical, health and socially significant type of activity; there is also an explanation of how such arguments in favor of such activities, increasing interest and motivation. The work contains the survey results, obtained from the second-year students (n=150): the first stage includes motivational factors in ski training – increasing a cold-resistance capacity of body (4.78±0.27), free move following the rules of safe social distance (4.65 ± 0.58), opportunity spend time in the nature, to get aesthetic pleasure (4.44 ± 0.90), opportunity to increase the aerobic capacity of the cardiovascular system through skiing (3.60 ± 1.23), when more than 90 % of the muscles are involved. Further, the main trends in improving the features and technique of ski training, which turned to be the most interesting for students, are identified: skiing at a steady pace by classical style (4.24 ± 1.23) accompanying with the desire to eliminate the technical errors – double-support sliding (143 people = 95.3 %); lack of slide (141 people = 94.0 %); poor sticks work (138 people = 92.0 %). The respondents have shown a real interest in mastering and improving the up-and-down move with different degrees (4.16 ± 0.45). The result of the study lies in defining a simple and easy-to-learn methods for improving the technique of skiing, focusing on the health improvement and dealing with the ski slopesРассмотрена проблема привлечения студентов нефизкультурных специальностей вузов к лыжной подготовке как физкультурно-оздоровительному и социально значимому виду физической нагрузки. Обоснована необходимость поиска аргументов в пользу таких занятий, повышения интереса и усиления мотивации. Приведены результаты социологического исследования среди студентов второго курса (n=150), где на первом этапе были определены факторы мотивации к лыжной подготовке: усиление степени закаливания организма и устойчивость к простудным заболеваниям (4,78±0,27), возможность свободного перемещения с необходимостью соблюдения санитарных норм (4,65±0,58), возможность побывать на природе в лесном массиве, получить эстетическое удовольствие от ее созерцания (4,44±0,90), возможность без ограничения пространства повышать аэробные возможности сердечно-сосудистой системы организма посредством ходьбы на лыжах (3,60±1,23), когда в работу вовлекается более 90 % мышц организма. Далее были определены актуальные направления совершенствования специфических качеств и технических элементов лыжной подготовки, наиболее значимые и интересные для студентов: ходьба на лыжах в равномерном темпе традиционным классическим стилем (4,24±1,23) с желанием устранить грубые ошибки в технике лыжного хода – двухопорное скольжение, отмеченное у 143 чел.– 95,3 %; практически отсутствие проката на скользящей лыже у 141 чел.– 94,0 %; очень слабое отталкивание палками у 138 чел.– 92,0 %. Очевидную заинтересованность студенты проявили в освоении и совершенствовании техники передвижения на спусках и подъемах разной крутизны (4,16±0,45). Итогом исследования стало определение простых и доступных в освоении методов совершенствования техники ходьбы на лыжах оздоровительной направленности, преодоление подъемов и спусков на лыжных трасса

    Together with the general health care, the training classes in Physical Culture and Sports for non-majors should focus on personal self-fulfillment thorough various forms of physical culture and sports. This has always been in the universities’ academic plans, and the current State Educational Standard (3++), which provides with 400 academic hours for Physical Culture and Sports, is not an exception. These days, the outdoor classes for students are more relevant than ever against the background of the ongoing COVID‑19 and restrictive social and sanitary measures (social distance). This work presents a module-base program and methodological support of teaching within the framework of Physical Culture and Sports discipline, including ski training, orienteering and general physical training. Each training module, which includes 8–13 comprehensive classes, is designed to implement an independent part of educational material following specific natural and climatic conditions. Its usefulness is tested through a pedagogical experiment on the students of Polytechnic School, Siberian Federal UniversityЦель учебных занятий по дисциплине «Физическая культура и спорт» для студентов нефизкультурных специальностей наряду с общим оздоровительным эффектом должна учитывать направленость на личностную самореализацию в разных формах физкультурно-спортивной практики. Это всегда находило отражение в программах обучения вузов, включая и ныне действующий Государственный образовательный стандарт третьего поколения, предусматривающий 400 академических часов для освоения программы учебной дисциплины «Физическая культура и спорт». Сегодня как никогда актуальны занятия для студентов на открытых пространствах на фоне продолжающейся эпидемии и ограничительных мер, вводимых для обеспечения безопасного расстояния между занимающимися по санитарным нормам. В данном исследовании представлено блоковое программно-методическое обеспечение учебного процесса в рамках общего курса дисциплины «Физическая культура и спорт», включающее лыжную подготовку, спортивное ориентирование и общую физическую подготовку. Каждый учебный блок, включающий 8–13 однонаправленных занятий, предназначен для реализации автономной доли учебного материала в соответствии с конкретными природно-климатическими условиями.     Eating habits and nutrition structure of high school and college students living in the Arctic zone of Russia

    The research note focuses on the issues of eating behaviour of young people in Arkhangelsk. The authors analyze the dynamics of general indicators of morbidity and mortality from diseases of the digestive system in the regions of the Arctic zone and substantiate the relevance of nutrition studies in these regions. Based on the results of the survey conducted in 2018 at schools, colleges and universities in Arkhangelsk, the authors show that a significant part of the youth have irregular eating habits and characterise the structure of their own nutrition as unsatisfactory. University students show a greater commitment to balanced nutrition than college students, but it is college and university students that disregard frequency of nutrition, which can be a consequence of inadequate catering arrangement and its affordability at local schools

    Ethnic groups in Canada try not to dissolve in a foreign national environment and to preserve their identity. Polish-Ukrainian relations are an important topic in the context of studying the immigrant Canadian environment. William Kurelek was interested in this issue and managed to prove the role of Ukrainians in shaping a multicultural Canadian society. The authors of this study aimed to characterize the preconditions and history of the thematic series of Ukrainian immigrants and The Polish Canadians on the basis of artistic works. The works of William Kurelek were characterized and special attention was paid to Polish-Ukrainian motives in his work. The models of Ukrainian-Polish relations through the author's prism of understanding and observing the traditions and culture were derived. Issues of religious tradition, prairie duties, folk celebrations, upbringing, ethnic life and friendship were raised. In his paintings, William Kurelek raised these issues

    Investigating an Alternative Electricity Supply System for Preventing Emergencies Under Conditions of Limited Capacity

    Film solar cells have been investigated to meet the need for an alternative system of electricity supply during the elimination and prevention of an emergency when an electricity supply system is damaged. Given the high degradation resistance of cadmium telluride, the study has examined the two-way sensitive solar cells based on CdS/CdTe with a super-thin base layer suitable for forming tandem structures. Creating the tandem structures makes it possible to improve the efficiency by placing another photoconverter at the front surface. We have measured the light volt-ampere characteristics of ITO/CdS/CdTe/Cu/ITO solar cells with a base layer thickness of 1 µm when simultaneously lighting the rear and frontal sides. It has been experimentally shown that two-way lighting makes it possible to increase the electrical power generated by the device structure by 30 %.The study of the spectral dependences of transmittance has shown that the device structures ITO/CdS/CdTe/Cu/ITO with a thickness of the base layer of 1 µm demonstrate, in the spectral range (0.82‒1.10) µm, average transmittance of 0.58. Examining the light volt-ampere characteristics of the solar cells Mo/CuInSe2/CdS/ZnO/ZnO:Al/Ni: Al/Ni has shown that placing, at its frontal surface, the solar element ITO/CdS/CdTe/Cu/ITO leads to a decrease in efficiency from 11.2 % to 6.0 %. Such a decrease is primarily due to a decrease in the short-circuit current density from 25.9 mA/cm2 to 13.8 mA/cm2. However, as the efficiency of the ITO/CdS/CdTe/Cu/ITO solar element is 7.8 %, the tested tandem photovoltaic converters ITO/CdS/CdTe/Cu/ITO – Mo/CuInSe2/CdS/ZnO/ZnO:Al/Ni demonstrated the efficiency 13.8

    The Zhenya Mammoth ( Mammuthus primigenius (Blum.)): Taphonomy, geology, age, morphology and ancient DNA of a 48,000 year old frozen mummy from western Taimyr, Russia

    This paper reports the results of an in-depth analysis of the frozen remains of a woolly mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius) named Zhenya, which has been dated to 48,000 cal BP. The carcass, found near the mouth of the Yenisey River in eastern Siberia, was a juvenile male whose ontogenetic age at death was 8-10 AEY. Its reconstructed live height at the shoulders (pSH 227.4 cm) was the equal of some adult female woolly mammoths and extant elephants. The large stature and a flaked off tusk tip that matches breaks on tusks of male African elephants are indirect indications that this mammoth most likely had reached sexual maturity, had been expelled from its maternal herd, and had been in at least one fight with another male. The mammoth's bones were relatively healthy, although some had minor lesions. Rudimentary upper second molars (M2/m2) were present, but no lower second molars were found in the alveoli, and the left tusk had never developed. Despite the abnormal development of the upper and lower second molars, the cheek teeth which were in wear (Dp4/dp4 and M1/m1) showed normal function without any indications of developmental delay. The completed growth of the light-colored dentin bands on the tusk strongly suggests the Fall of the year was the season of death. This season is also supported by accumulated fat in the upper parts of the torso, indicative of physiological preparation for the winter ahead. The few minor traces of carnivore scavenging, the little disturbed condition of the carcass, and the absence of bone modifications made by human actions, along with the social status of this young male animal, are interpreted here as highly probable evidence that the Zhenya Mammoth died from unrecoverable injuries inflicted during a bull-to-bull fight. The mineralogical analysis of site sediments revealed that the mammoth's burial in situ took place in the Yenisey River valley seasonally inundated by the river, which together with Fall's freezing temperatures protected the carcass from scavengers. An analysis of ancient DNA provides strong support for Zhenya's mitochondrial lineage within the deeply diverging clade III haplogroup B

    Test Results of the CLIC Damping Wiggler Prototype

    The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) will require ultralow emittance electron and positron beams. Such emittance will be achieved by radiative damping in the CLIC damping rings that will be realized by a use of high-field short-period superconducting damping wigglers. In the course of the CLIC technical feasibility studies, a full-scale damping wiggler prototype was fabricated in BINP. Main parameters of the wiggler are 51 mm of period, 3 T of magnetic field, 1.8 m of magnetic length, 18 mm of the pole gap, and indirect cooling by LHe. Four cryocoolers were used in the wiggler design, which allow its ordinary operation without LHe consumption. Above the magnetic requirements, the main design challenges for this prototype are scalability, particularly of the cooling concept, modularity, and the capability of sustaining a high radiative heat load. The wiggler powering tests and performance of the cryogenic system are described in this paper
