Malalties immunomediades (immunopatologia) en el moment actual

Sota el terme de malalties immunomediades (MIM) s'agrupen totes aquelles malalties que tenen la causa de la malaltia en el sistema immunitari més que no pas la solució, com tothom espera del sistema encarregat del manteniment de la integritat de l'individu front a les infeccions. Així, autoimmunitat, immunoquímica, al·lèrgia, immunoteràpia i immunodeficiències serien els cinc grans subgrups d'aquest ampli concepte de MIM. En relació amb el diagnòstic i tractament de les MIM s'encunya el terme immunopatologia per referir-se a l'àrea de suport al diagnòstic per a aquestes malalties. Els avenços en el coneixement, diagnòstic i fins i tot tractament de les MIM són (després dels relacionats amb el coneixement de la genètica i el càncer) l'àrea biomèdica en què més aportacions s'estan fent en les darreres dècades.The term immune-mediated diseases (IMDs) groups together all the illnesses for which the cause is in the immune system rather than the solution as one would expect from the system in charge of upholding the integrity of individuals in the face of infections. Autoimmunity, immunochemistry, allergy, immunotherapy and immunodeficiencies are the 5 major subgroups of this broad concept of IMDs. When it comes to the diagnosis and treatment of IMDs, the term immunopathology has been coined to refer to the area for support in the diagnosis of such pathologies. Progress in the understanding, diagnosis and even treatment of IMDs (after knowledge of genetics and cancer) is the area in which most biomedical contributions have been made in recent decades

Contact line depinning from sharp edges

With aim of finding mathematical criteria for contact line depinning from sharp corners, we have studied the equilibrium and stability of a semi-infinite planar liquid layer pinned at the vertex of a wedge. Equilibrium is compatible with a fan of apparent contact angles $\theta_0$ bracketed by the equilibrium contact angles of both flanks of the wedge, so the contact line could remain pinned if $\theta_0$ is within this fan. However, the analysis of the stability of these solutions, studied exploiting the variational structure of the problem through turning-point arguments, shows that the equilibrium becomes unstable at critical depinning advancing $\theta_0^a$ and receding $\theta_0^r$ contact angles, which are found as subcritical saddle-node bifurcations. Equilibrium is thus possible (stable) within the interval $\theta_0^a < \theta_0 <\theta_0^a$ but the contact line depins from the vertex beyond these critical angles if they occur within the equilibrium fan.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figure

Diferentes técnicas de integración paisajística en carreteras. Análisis de eficacia a través de la percepción de observadores.

En el trabajo que se expone en este artículo se planteó como objetivo realizar un análisis de las diferentes medidas de integración paisajística que se utilizan en las autopistas y autovías españolas. Para ello, se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica de la normativa, la documentación científica, las guías y demás recomendaciones en este ámbito, y se ha efectuado un inventario fotográfico que recoge las medidas de restauración observadas en las diferentes vías. Gracias a una encuesta fotográfica y al posterior análisis de la percepción del público de las diferentes medidas de integración, se han identificado las variables medioambientales clave en la integración de las autopistas en el paisaje, los aspectos de diseño más adecuados y las medidas de integración paisajística más efectivas
